Bloodrayne's opening weekend

Uwe Boll's latest entitled BLOODRAYNE, jam-packed with "name actors" such as Kristanna Loken, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Madsen, Meat Loaf, Billy Zane and Udo Kier, managed to scrape up less than $1M over the entire weekend , making it one of the worst openings of all-time. Somewhere in Germany though, someone saved a bunch of money off that shit...not sure how, but now that the German tax loophole is closed, we might not see as many Boll flicks as we've been getting accustomed to. Bummer, eh?

Well an excellent cast for any kind of movie if you ask me. They'd been better off making a simple gangster action movie, even if it was a cheesy often done story.
This movie is still in bottom 100 on IMDB, unbelievable. You must do something REALLY wrong to get that low I would have thought. Don't think that Boll guy seems to have that James Cameron / Spielberg / Peter Jackson flair to visualise these kinds of movies properly. Ashame really that he's let on the lose with such a great cast.

That cast would have been excellent for a Reservoir Dogs / Hustle / Casino / Ocean's Eleven style movie! Probably would have cost less also. Bloodrayne cost a whopping 25 million dollars to make!

Let's hope Meat's next movie "Tenacious D: Pick of Destiny" will be a lot, lot better. It has to be, it's got Jack Black in it and it looks really funny.

But it didn't open everywhere. It seems to me that it only opened in select cities. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I hope so too but although i love seeing Meat on screen he doesn't seem to be very fussy about films he get's involved in and it seems to me the quality of the film very rarely matches the quality of his acting.

are these bad choices down to Meat or lack of prodcers realising what they could do with him? I guess we'll never know

Well personally I think it's probably also cuz Hollywood hasnt really been doing a lot of good movies recently according to me. I really think there are way too many movies with CGI. There could be lots more movies with just plain action and good story telling. And for that you would need some interesting actors. I certainly think Meat is one. He would have been an excellent choice for a James Bond villian (a James Bond movie WITHOUT CGI that is! Most of the James Bond CGI looks so out of date after like 10 years anyway so why bother with it at all. Dont think you really need it all the time.).

That's the impression I get as well, that he takes whatever comes his way. Saying that though, some of the characters he's played are quite interesting, it's just the whole film that's crap. The two films I watched this weekend 'Crazy In Alabama' and 'Focus' I thought he played a really good part and his acting wasn't as wooden as I was expecting. The storylines though are less than impressive.

Uwe Boll has a reputation of making crap films. And when you have that sort of reputation, then you can understand why the actors might have under-performed.
