I AM FED UP WITH PEOPLE LEAVING THE FORUM BECAUSE OF BEING DRIVEN AWAY. BECAUSE OF THIS WE'VE LOST MEAT, WE'VE LOST CHRIS, AND IF IT CARRIES ON YOU'LL LOSE ME!

THIS TOPIC IS ALMOST CERTAIN TO GET LOCKED, BUT THIS IS HOW I FEEL!

well said, this isn't the first time a post like this has appeared and everyone agrees that the differences should be settled so maybe we should do as we preach and pray another topic like this one appears

It's unlikely that everyone is going to get on but I hope so.

tolerance doesn't mean friendship but it should stop too many arguments that get out of control

airhead - I can quite see why you feel the need to do this poll.
At the moment in the way it's worded I'm sorry i cannot vote one way or the other.
Perosnally I think the root cause needs to be addressed which is - do we as members of the Meat Loaf UK Fan Club forum want to read or be part of unnecessary critiques of Meat work and efforts and if they do appear here what do we do sit back and hold out tongues?

Some of the nicest, generous and caring people are on here and I don't want that to be taken away!! All of this nonsense is noones fault but our own!! I love you all, even if noone feels the same!!

I'm relatively new to this forum. But I don't want to miss it just for one day. I know when I come here I will find everything: laughing, friends, people who understand me (and always a cold beer at the Bat & Bellfry ),...
I don't like the argueing which is going on for the last weeks. But I hope it will stop at some time
And hopefully Meat, Chris and others will come back.

I have voted No in this poll.

Quote:

and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

I noticed that my NO vote is, so far, the only one. But sometimes a person must just go with the unpopular choice. I'm not going to say yes just in case i rock the boat by saying what i really feel.

There are things going on in these forums that, to be honest i'm pretty annoyed and angered with. I undersatnd that everybody can't get on all of the time - and that's fine by me - but i think that this is not one of the times when a group hug and sickly sweet good sentiments can make things instantly better.

My nan once told me that i should be true to myself and then i'd be false to no-one, and this is one of those times. If i make myself unpopular for saying what i realy feel - so be it - but at least i'll know that my concience is clear.

Heat i respect your opinion. It is your choice as with others. But the prob is because people are starting to drift away and i don't want to see that happen. I no a group hug doesn't sort out stuff straight away (and belive me, i know) but If people just wanted to row, then do it through pm. Not through the boards because it's bringing others down.

IMHO people are always going to be transient on this board. That's just life. Yes, it brings people down when there are arguments and disagreements, but that again is life.

I don't think the focus should be on the fact that people are disagreeing and not getting on - as i said before, that is a part of any community - but more so on how and IF these arguments can be resolved. Do you honestly think it's better to sweep these simmering tensions under the carpet and leave them there to fester, then to try and get to the bottom of them and find out what's really going on?

IMO - and this is just that - part of the problem is that people have always been too happy to say 'well...lets just forget all about it and move on' and when you do that you create a whole shedload of unresolved issues that, over time, start to eat away at people, thus creating a circle of unease and unrest. And i think that some of these are finally beginning to surface now.

I know i'm not speaking for the majority here - i'm probably speaking for my lonley minority - but that's ok.

I vote no as well Heat, for mostly the same reasons as you, so you're not alone. Theres much more to all this than meets the eye and just hoping if everyone shuts up and pretends its not happening, it'll go away, isnt gonna work, everytime theres a disagreement its coming back to the same underlying problems. They need to be addressed and dealt with, then there may just be some hope.

I voted no aswell. A group hug and lets agree to disagree aint gonna work. As deb says the problems need to be address...and one rule for one and one rule for everybody else is not the way to go.

Addressing the problem is fine, but first we have to define it in a civil manner.

As I see it, there are two basic schools of thought here.

1.People who have their opinion, and feel they have a right to express that opinion, be it good or bad and reguardless of who reads it.

2.People who refuse to accept any negative opinion as this is a Meat Loaf fan club, and therfor is not the apropiate place to critisise him.

Arguments will only stop on this forum if one of the following two things happen.

1.The people who wish to air their negative views do not post them here.

2.The people who do not want to read negative reviews ignore anything posted that they don't like.

That's it in a nutshell.
I for one don't think that either of these solutions are going to happen

Didn't vote either for the same reason.

I agree with this statement, people have been holding back, but have now had enough or the nit picking, not just of Meat, but others as well.

We come here to have fun, meet/get to know new people. Talk about what Maet is up to, his music etc. Yes - it is a place for constructive conversation BUT not insults

No, but there are enough people who fall into one category or the other, and IMHO it's the conflict between the two groups that is causing the problem.

I was interested to see this post. This is the main reason that I don't post here very often, there is far too much sniping going on, people arguing over things that cannot possibly be resolved, like who is the best tribute act etc. That is personal choice, people are always going to disagree. I have a look around here most days, but to be honest the whole thing is really boring. There is far too much bickering going on and I don't profess to have the answers, banning people obviously doesn't work, because they can come back under a different name. I can think of a few people who haven't been around for a long time on here, and it is such a shame to see the site get deeper and deeper into oblivion. I don't think it is going to get solved though and by locking threads where postings have a strong opinion is only going to fuel the fire. Just my thoughts on this subject. I didn't bother to vote, because I really don't see a solution.

Must say i'm not too hopeful Michel
Solutions?Hell, we can't even agree on what the problem is now

Still, the sugestion that people not respond to posts they don't like, and give the mods a chance to do their job before a flame war starts is a good one
I hope it works out

Mousie - no disrespect intended here, hun...

But IMHO the problem is the fact that if the Mods had done thier jobs in the first place then we wouldn't have all this crap going on now.

Seems like a case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted now...
