I've always taken it to mean that sometimes things work out for you quickly, sometimes they work out after a lot of hard work, and sometime they simply never work out at all, and that is the hardest to accept and move on. Does that make any sense?

yeah i always thought it was something like that, but i just put them in different words.

It's basically just saying that somedays loving you is easy and somedays loveing you is hard, somedays loving you is impossible and because somedays when its impossible to love you the day never seems to end! well somthing along those lines anyway!

On first listening, all those years ago, I came up with the same romantic version as Sherrie87 suggested but the more I listened the more I agreed with Pudding!! Perhaps it's a sign of the times!!

I always took it to be referring to inspiration.

After all, he is singing about someone he loves; someone who is his Muse.

I thought that fitted: Some days inspiration is easy to find, somedays it is hard to find adn somedays you cannot get inspiration at all.

But surely this is just an example of how the same lyrics can mean so amny different things to so many people.

I reckon Read Em and Weep is quite romantic - sing all of that to someone and you're bound to get a piece of the action :)

Assuming you can sing, of course!

I think he's talking about passion/inspiration and having to work for it...some days it don't come easy, (inspiration doesn't come easy)

Some days it don't come hard (sometimes the passion/inspiration is there, but not enough of it- it doesn't come hard and fast, so to speak -don't even say it pudding- )

sometimes it don't come at all, and these are the days that never end (well yah, when there is no passion and inspiration it's beyond frusterating...it's heartbreaking)

That analogy fits it with the next part as well, so that's how I interpret it...

so, basically, I agree with Chris- other than my interpretation of what it means when it 'doesn't come hard'

Before I knew about Steinman I took it to mean he was talking about sex and now that I've sort of gotten to know him I'm positive he's talking about sex.

Also note the line 'I'll never forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight...'.

its all about sex, love, faith and fears. Its the ultimate love he's singing about. In fact its Paradise part 2. In part 1 he just wanted sex and she asked for the ultimate love and hes not sure if he can do that. In part 2 he's giving the ulitmate love and she want to be sure so she s not only asking: Do you love me forever? Cause he said that but she goes further: Will you hose me down with holy water..(..) and yes, he can do that.
Its paradise part 2 but then they are not teenagers anymore but adults.

its the way i see these songs.

Hey Lizard!

I actually agree AND disagree...I think all of steinman's stuff is about sex AND also about something else. Like his double-entendres are about sex AND something more majestic at the same time- so I hold true to my interpretation while conceeding that ALL of Steinman's music is also about sex- that's part of his humour- but I think he's also got the majestic meaning there..

hmmmmmmmmm It's all coming back to me now....I wonder if Celine blushes when she sings that

I've always seen it as a "please don't break up with me" song, but you could be right.

Ie his sings it, pours his little heart out, almost cries, the girl softens up, Meat gets l a i d, and then everyone's happy

The video opens with an amazing line 'I have travelled the years to find her, sometimes going all the way is just the start...', this should have been spoken at the beginning of the song i reckon. By the way, anyone know who wrote that?? Hope it was Steinman.

Sex, Drums & Rock N Roll

I think, Steinman has this all down pact, A+++++

I mean he is an incredible writer, and Anything For Love, is such a beautiful piece! But only one person can truely make the songs come out, and that is Meat Loaf! Meat's vocals are the only way you can hear a Steinman song to its full meaning! comments?

There's a demo version of DOTV's Braver Than We Are sung by Karine Hannah, where there are lyrics: "(We're) crusaders of the heart / and goin' all the way is just a start". So I'd vote for Steinman...
