Thanks David for acting on my concerns about this thread. I felt strongly that the forum would not want to be seen as endorsing or advertising this in any way.

No Wez, I would not say so. Someone noticed and asked if it was legal to offer such a tape for sale, not in any kind of approving way, but the url was included and I felt this was not probably a sound idea. There was no suggestion that we should bid on it, but it did draw attention to something which would rightly upset Meat and would provide a straight path to any unscrupulous visitor who saw it.

Mouse doesn't have authority to remove posts and suggested I wrote to R, SueW or David, although I thought Sue would be nailed in front of the stage at Wembley tonight :) David kindly obliged, and removed not only the link but also the short thread which was for the best imo.

Don't delete them, just move them (you know where to where).

Now I'm confused! Particularly if the "where to" is the dreaded Fight Club.

This started with someone questioning the legality of a bootleg being offered for sale, but as the post included a link to it I wrote to Mouse who was around, suggesting that the link should perhaps be removed lest the forum were seen to be endorsing it by providing a swift route straight there. Mouse points out that I need to speak to David, SueW or R. I write to David, pretty confident that SueW will be en route to Wembley and quite possibly R also. David takes quick action. I thank him.

Wez wonders whether this was started by the bootlegger who advertised their sale ln several threads on the OIFC boards. I explained that I thought not; this was just an innocent query from a member here. Pud is puzzled because the thread that is left doesn't really give a clear idea of what went on, but David imo made a wise decision to remove what had been said as it would still have directed people to the sale (one which has been reported to Meat, who has read the pm, and his management, and which I hope will be be stopped.)

No arguments, no fights, no harsh words; just Meat supporters being concerned and taking responsible actions to protect his interests as best they can imo.

You're not being silly to ask Bart. But this was an illegally obtained recording and a serious breach of the law.

A lot of bands and a lot of fans like bootlegs, Im not saying Meat does for one sec. But Lots have been known to tell the fans to turn their tapes on at shows, So I wouldnt say it was such a bad thing, just depends who's view you're looking at. To a lot of fans, the shows live on through bootlegs. Paying for them is different.

Just my opinion

PS : theres a lot of things in this world that are illegal and I'm sure most have us have done them at some time or other :) Life would be pretty boring otherwise

PPS lol... In fact most of our pix that everyone enjoys technically shouldnt be allowed, all tickets and venues usually say no cameras, but it doesnt stop us all sneaking them in

I take all your points .. but I think to secretly record a concert and offer it to the highest bidder crosses the line .. particularly as Meat and the band go to a great deal of trouble to get the sound right, and a home bootleg is likely to fall far short of their exacting and professional mark.

I'll stick to the concert living on in my memory :) .. and look forward to a professionally produced DVD from Oz

Caryl, calm down and do not worry so much. I was doing my mod duties while at work and did not whereto this thread to the proper place, because I must mod when the boss is not around (LOL~!!!).

There is a time and a place for everything, and the whereto should most likely be left up to the mods on the board to decide.

I think that I have a pretty good idea of whereto these threads and as a mod, you can sleep well at night knowing I will whereto them to the whereto with haste.

I'm perfectly calm David .. wherever did you get the idea I wasn't? I was just responding to R's post on the thread. It was posted on the forum, and I read replies on a thread I am posting on. The "where to" was confusing, as the only likely place apparent to those of us who are not Moderators seemed to be Fight Club.

But I can be calm despite being unclear as to what is being referred to .. :) So I assume "where to" is a place where items can be removed from public gaze and discussion without deleting them so a record is still held.

yeah I don't agree with selling them for profit, but even cds and postage cost money.

Well my memory with 5 kids and one on the way isnt up to what it was, especially when i've seen 14 shows this tour and 3 more to go. So a bootleg or 2 would certainly help me remember all them special moments

used for the right reasons, I think they arent a bad thing. But I would also prefer the real thing, although most bands usual dont show the whole thing

Meat keeps posting how he has all the audio tapes from each show...with making people pay for meatloaf.net why doesnt he put some of these up as mp3s on the new site - that would give people a motive to pay. Live webcasts from Australia would be cool too. Just ideas but i really think meat would make a fortune by uploading his audio tapes - even just a couple of tracks - so we can download them of him!

Then why did you hop on here and question the judgement of the forum administrator?

R notified me of whereto this type of thread and I understood. This is not something that required any type of response from anyone other than myself.

I took your input as questioning the competency of R in this matter. Sometimes whereto is on a need to know basis. If whereto this type of thread (according to R) is Fight Club then so be it, if it is to be moved somewhere else so be that as well.

R is a very reliable administrator for these forums and I fully trust his judgement in all matters - more often than I trust my own.

I will not justify this matter with any further conversation, other than to say that at present, R is the absolute best and most fair forum administrator in the Meat Loaf Online Community and I shall never act without his explicit direction in the future.

'Nuff Said!

I wouldn't dream of questioning Rainer's competency. Just asking a question in response to a public post which I was trying to make sense of.

Still calm :)

I fully support any action taken against people trying to peddle bootlegs on an official site. They have a brass neck to even attempt it. As if we're going to disrespect the man we love by buying dodgy copies of his gigs on his own site.

Eloquently put Chaos .. from my thoughts to your fingers :) Although I'd say again that the thread started here innocently, but I know you post on he OIFC board where the bootlegger had posted again and again, and from whence it was taken smartly down. As you say, it's one helluva cheek to peddle illicit tapes on Meat's own site. Somewhat like a fence putting notices about dodgy gear on a police station noticeboard .. impertinent and rather daft!!
