Default Best venue ?

OK, what is the best venue you have been to for a concert.

For me it has to be the Town and Country in Kentish Town (not calle dthat any more, if it is still there) and the Hammersmith Odeon (now the Apollo I think).

I like the small and intimate venues but most acts play the stadiums and arena now which are no way as good. It shows how long it is since I went to a small venue, because I sont even know what they are called anymore.

For shear location it has to be London Arena because I can get home in 25 minutes

Jannus Landing, an open air very small concert area in St Petersburg, Florida. It's named after Tony Jannus, an aviation pioneer who somehow is associated with St. Pete. I've seen both Meat Loaf and the Indigo Girls there. It's a very intimate setting for a concert, with open seating so anyone willing to arrive very early is pretty much guaranteed a "front row seat", though there are no seats- you must stand the whole time. I liked that because it guarenteed no old farts would yell for me to sit down. I was literally against the stage (within sweating distance! ) when I saw Meat Loaf, it was amazing. The dressing rooms are in an apartment building right next door, and it's common to see the performers on the street after the show. Unfortunately, I didn't catch Meat after the show, but I met Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls in the St Pete streets when I saw them. I always look which concerts are there, but of late its been an assortment of death metal bands and washed up 80's hair bands- not my cup of tea!

I've only been to NEC recently. Our seats were quite near the back this time but we still had a good view. We're going to Cardiff in December (guess why?) so will see which of those is better.

Madison Square Garden for the atmosphere (it was a KISS show)
Wolftrap in Vienna (I've seen Meat Loaf, Joan Armatrading and Cowboy Mouth there) for great acoustics!
