![]() ![]() I doctor visiting a patient decided that she needed to go into hospital. He called for an ambulance, and contacted her son who was on holiday in Benedorm with the news. The son decided to fly the 1200 miles back home to be with his mother. HE ARRIVED AT THE HOSPITAL BEFORE HIS MOTHER. ![]() Unbelievable ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() My husband and I are lucky enough to live near a private clinic in Brentford which will very shortly be open for all minor injuries, fractures etc., with state of the art equipment, and walk in of the street type injuries. It'll be worth every penny we spend there., if their services are required. Already spent many thousands on private care anyway |

As a Registered nurse whi has worked both in the private and NHS sector there are good and bad in both systems e.g did you know 99% of private hospitals send a taxi to the local NHS hospital when they run out of blood I could go on. Unfortunately the hospital systems in this country are run by the wrong people I know they have to have budgetsetc. But most just do not understand the complex issues if indvidual health care a person's right to dignity and choise etc etc I feel I am well qualified to speak on this, your average hospital manager does not know the difference in an orthopaedic nurse and an oncologist nurse trust me the difference matters in life and death situations.
My father suffered from Alzheimers for many years and my mother is very frail if they had not had me and my sister fighting for their dignity he would have died in a hspital corridor with a wet nappy on (this generation fought for this counttry) my father eventually after many fights died with digmity and the peace he deserve, unfortunately this is not the case for everyone and that angers and saddens me. This is the year 2003 and we live in a supposed civilised country it is about time the goverment opened it's eyes and got real.I'm sorry to go on but it angers me when I hear these things about the elderly one day it could be us. Thanks Rosie for your input, one of my best friends is a geriatric nurse, and is "put upon "so much, that she is driven to despair sometimes, but still gives every ounce of her being to her elderly patients. Who love her dearly. Your so right, this government has taken extra taxes from all sources and promised to put it back into the NHS, but I've yet to see the evidence

yes I remember that it used to be like this before we moved to
Ireland, but the hospitals are very good here. It is a case of private or public when you go in and we choose not to go private and i am very glad as the treatment appears to be the same either way! indeed when i gave birth to my last baby a lady in the next bed was private and my consultant came out more than hers! kezzina |

I work very closely with the health service and have to agree with Rosie , It aint the staff its the management, budgets and resources.
I could tell some stories, that would stop you sleeping for weeks ![]() |

I would n't doubt the horroe stories I have too many to tell, the medical profession especially nurses burn out too soon, emotional blackmail plays a big part, we get tired and disenchanted, when I finish my psychology degree I expect I'll move on to something else too, I wish it was n't like that but too many of us are pushed to the limit. Sorry to get on my soapbox but all my working life at least 20 years of it has made me very cynical

what really makes me mad is the over 65's are so badly let down by every service (imho) and its down to their generation that we have the system they paid into it from the start and what are they getting? a bum deal thats what

yes i know what you mean, my mother was a casualty sister for
many years, and when she got injured at work, the way she was treated was dispicable. ![]() and the stories she used to tell me ...they would make your hair curl. ![]() kezzina |

god forgive the health authority...
![]() it really is a sin, i pity the nurses though as they will be feeling terrible. the usual stories involved, too many fat cats, not enough nurses or paramedics.... kezzina may the family have the strength to go through this, without the paparazzi giving them hell. |

![]() edited as I've just read the artical - this appears not to be a recent thing but some weeks ago and it says the lady had pneumonia, later had a stroke and died three weeks later. So I don't know if you have heard of another case but the one in todays paper unfortunately died. there are also online news reports about it. disgraceful |
