Default Meat - By Royal Invitation

Hello everyone

Just wanted to let you know of an eBay auction that I started earlier this evening, which I'm hoping will be of interest to the forum users.

The item in question is an invitation from His Royal Highness, Prince Charles to Meat, inviting him to attend a Princes Trust banquet back in 1995.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=3345483922

Many thanks, and best of luck to anyone who takes part.

Carlos

Want to tell us something of the provenance of this item? Like how it came into your hands?

What does `provenance' mean?

Provenance means evidence that the item is genuine.
For instance,if you were selling a signed copy of Bat,a photo of Meat signing it would bring provenance that the album is original.
In this instance,a guest list of the event listing Meat as an invited guest would lend provenance to the authenticity of the item.
Provenance is a grey area sometimes. It can be just as difficult to prove the provenace of an item as to prove the item itself .

Ok, thanks for that explanation THE FLYING MOUSE. So what Caryl really meant to say was something like "How sure can you be that the item is genuine" or something like that, do I understand correctly?

Shane, what Caryl meant to say was "Want to tell us something of the provenance of this item? Like how it came into your hands?" .. and she did

Sorry if the word "provenance" foxed you, but I see Mouse has explained. It's not an uncommon word over here, and I thought the "Like how it came into your hands?" made it fairly clear. However I said what I wanted to say, and see that the seller has not given us any provenance.

Caryl

Sorry it's taken me a little while to come back - been away over the weekend.

The invitation originally was sent from Left Bank Management to the now defunct fan club in Brighton, from whom I was given it.

As for the invite being real.... the gilt edging on the sides and the gold raised crest of HRH Prince of Wales on the front would lead me to think that it would be the genuine article.

Hope this helps
