Default Looking for LP back catalogue

Hey guys

I recently got an LP player and would love to mimic my cd collection on LP. I currently only have Bat and Deadringer.
Ideally I would be looking for everything else album wise that is available. I sometimes have seen things on eBay but have then had trouble with sellers when it came to payment.

Does anyone here happen to double up on their collections and therefor perhaps has some that they know will be getting sold into a good home?

A job lot would be best rather than dribs and drabs but if not that's ok.

Any help folks?

Richard

Richard, are you looking for collectibility or sound quality? I don't have copies to sell, but I can give you some advice if you're looking that way!

It'd be for sound quality as i will be listening to them. But if i can only get my hands on a picture disc of Bat 2 for example then so be it. But just the regular LPs would be grand. Ive recently bought BBIS of eBay. and have bid on Midnight and Bad Attitude.

Im guessing its common knowledge, but it seems from the 90's on the albums on vinyl become like hens teeth. I saw HCTB somewhere for £50+ and WTTN for £45 i think. Haven't seen Bat 2 or Bat 3 anywhere obvious.

If it's sound quality you're looking for - and you may be aware of this already - but you really need to be quite selective with vinyl, as both the condition and the pressing (let alone which end of the pressing your copy comes from - i.e. first off the press will sound better than last off the press) are going to be big factors in what you eventually end up listening to. I've had copies of Bad Attitude, for example, which sound flat and lifeless, and one copy - the copy that's my 'go to' copy these days for listening to - that is hands down an utter revelation of what this music on vinyl can sound like. So, I guess the lesson is to be informed and be selective!! And as for eBay ... it's a minefield. Often records described as 'mint/excellent +' etc. are nothing of the sort, and littered with audible 'rice crispies'. You know what your looking for, but for me vinyl has to sound as noise free as CD to be worth the investment.

Bat II - the picture disc is horrible, but so is the standard one disc release. There's a rare 2LP European version (I think ...) that's still out there for a phenomenal fee, but I'd wait around for a re-release in the future, as the versions that exist are truly not worth the price tag and sound inferior to the CDs out there.

Jesus man, that was a bit of an essay. Hope this helps!!

That's odd ... I have no idea! Show's how often I visit the forum these days.
If you need any help with identifying pressings etc. post it up here and I'll get to it when I get a chance. What's your set up? I never asked!

Hey, everyone's gotta have a budget! However, and this is the pitfall of vinyl, to get the best out of it you'll need something pretty decent to listen through, otherwise you won't really get any benefit over the CD/digital versions. Doesn't mean that you have to spend mega-bucks, but knowing what you're looking for/using is definitely a good way to go :)

Gets my vote. Still worth checking that the vinyl is audibly graded with the seller first, though!

Just a warning. You will reach a real snag in your collection when you go to look for CHSIB. There have actually been two situations where I could have gotten it but just didn't have that kind of money at the time. So that "hole" has always been there.

I am realising this. Currently have a gap from 95-06. So 3 albums missing. Was pleased to find hctb for a decent price. As the doode already said to me Bat 2 isn't a great LP sound wise, this I have discovered also. But it fills the space in my collection.

At least they learned and made wttn a double disc, despite it being 15 minutes shorter than bat 2

And then there's HIAHB which wasn't released at all (How lame was that?)

If I ever get CHSIB, I'll get Bat 3 after it. That's been the plan all this time. Pretty much have everything else, both versions of BBIS with the different covers hehe.

Edit: Do you think HIAHB might actually be eventually released this way? I sure hope so.

I hate the new vinyl.... Why... its the way they press it at the processing plant and don't let the record cool down before shrink wrapping... making the record really warped... countless of times i've took new vinyl back because of this...

Seriously? I buy on average 6-12 new records every month, and in all this time I have only ever had two that have been warped, and neither effected play. That's some pretty miserable luck
