Default Hammersmith '78: With all this talk of the end..... Why not go back to the beginning?

Meat's legendary Tenure of touring Europe has finally come to an end (sans the shortened Racetrack shows).

Why not go back to the beginning? Or as close to it as possible and listen to his SECOND ever show in England from 1978: Hammersmith Odeon. Meat's first was in Manchester, 1978.

I dunno how many people have heard this legendary broadcast when it was first heard on the radio, but it stands as one of the best Bat Out Of Hell Tour Concerts.

Features Karla, Rory, and Jim as well.

Enjoy:

Thank you Wario.

You can hear very well his voice changed a lot in all those years. Must say I like his new voice more - it sounds more unique than his old voice.

Since CHSIB album I like his new, mature voice . It has (in my opinion) more depths and new, more powerful sound.

Yes, but I think the changes already started since "Blind before I stop". In the following years it even changed more and more. LIKE!

First time I ever saw and heard Meat live .. it was terrific. But over the years Meat has grown so much in stage artistry. Perhaps it's the difference between a radio broadcast and hearing it live. I've seen and heard some marvelous renditions of BOOH over the year, but I too will always remember this tour, and last Saturday!!

To me it's very hard to enjoy any bootlegs or live recordings after '95. People say his voice changed, I say different but the first time I noticed his voice changed a lot were the Beatles covers in '95. I really miss this kind of shows, for me these were light year better than now.

Meat tours a show for his fans to go and see live. Bootlegs will never do it justice. This recent tour has been a triumph; the staging, the spectacle, the band and Meat's performance including his voice.

If you can't get to shows that's a shame, but they deserve to be judged AS live shows. Being at any show this tour was light years better than any radio recording from 1978 imo .. and that's based on having seen and experienced both. Meat has toured some marvellous shows post '95, and this recent tour was amazing.

Really this was meant to showcase Meat's second venture to England. Remind people of his beginning since hes just ended his run in the UK for the most part.
Each era has its pros and cons and stuff I love and dont love.

Currently I havent seen a LAB show for myself but i like what Ive hard. Experiencing a Meat show is far greater then anything can do justice, as per Caryl. The problem for me is im too young and wish I couldve experienced 1978, 1987, 1993 meat loaf. This is all I have. And if I love it so much and this is a radio broadcast, in person OMG.

Enjoy and comment on how awesome this broadcast is and Not how hes changed in 2013.

I have never found meat "hard to enjoy" from whatever era (Only exception is the 1981 Dortmund show) im listening to. Love the grudged voice in 1996. Love the deeper voice on CHSIB tour, love his post cyst voice of recent years.

Do I think 1987-1993 meat is the best sining voice in the history of the universe? Yes I do. Does that mean I dont like the current voice? Hell no. Its all awesome.

I agree with all of this. I didn't see him in 78 or 88, but I did see him in 94.

Seeing ML perform is always a pleasure. I don't want to say that every show is great, because that is clearly not the case, but I will dare you to find a singer who hasn't had an off night.

He was definitely better back in the day, but he's still got it.

Take it for what it is. The big guy isn't gonna be with us forever.
