It's nice that he apologized, although I think his remarks were aimed at the Dad and not at the little girl. I have mixed feelings about this. I hate to be cynical about it, but a part of me thinks he did apologize only because the original incident made the news (I had seen the story). Some people might say that a 7-year-old has no place at a Who concert to begin with, but I think it depends on the kid, and it's OK if she really is a fan and genuinely wants to go.
I love it when artists acknowledge kids at their shows, but on the flip side, I have heard numerous examples of people using their kids to get to the front and/or get attention from the artist, and that's just wrong. Unfortunately, sometimes bad behavior (and not just involving kids) gets unintentionally rewarded. I've seen that first hand. |
