This is debatable, but the track seems to be what "PARADISE THE DASHBOARD" light without the innuendo and amking everything blunt and obvious. I view the song as a satire and foil to "PARADISE THE DASHBOARD", thus making a reference to it.

Yes i think small prefereces to his other songs i heard whilst listening... but never payed much attention to it... But i think now i will do that.

I dunno if it was a deliberate reference or not. I do know Meat has a soft spot for the song, though. It was performed live on the Bat tour, and Jim added piano elements to it so maybe Jim liked the song so much he referenced it.

I highly doubt it's a reference. If I'm not mistaken, "putting the hammer down" is another way of saying you're putting the pedal to the metal, going like a bat out of hell, or something like that.

Are you kidding? With all the effort that steinman puts into his songs, nothing, not a line or a word is written without being viewed every possible way.
Steinman probably liked the hammerdown title and it stuck with him and low and behold, there it is in one of his songs. Whether he likes to admit it or not, I think he writes a lot from Meat's experiences.
