Nice topic Testify, NO, I do have the right to remain silent

My brush with fame is not too terribly exciting....when I worked at a movie theatre in high school I once sold comedian Howie Mandell (is he known in the UK?) popcorn. He was appearing at Ruth Eckerd Hall, the same venue that ML has performed at in my town the last several times he has been here.
I also met Indigo Girl Amy Ray on the street in St Petersburg Florida after a concert at Jannus Landing. (Again, the same venue that ML was at in the early 90's- why do I run into everyone who comes to his venues except him.
I also used to be a big Doctor Who fan, so I've attended a lot of sci fi conventions where I met Peter Davison, Patrick Troughton, Colin Baker (all former DW's), Nick Courtney (the Brigadier), all the guys from UNIT, lots of other DW folks, and George Takai (Sulu from Star Trek)
There are lots of baseball teams that train in my area, so I've met most of the Philadelphia Phillies whove been on the team in the last 20 years, as well as hall of famers like Enos Slaughter, Warren Spahn, Willie Mays, Ted Williams and Eddie Matthews. Those are probably not well known names to non-Americans but I was thrilled to meet them. Oh yeah, and several WWE wrestlers live in my town so I've met Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker and a few others.
I'm interested to read about other's brushes with fame. But- no one can beat Dotties, that for sure!!!!

Met Meat at the M&G in Amsterdam (well, I saw him, he signed my CHSIB and oversized Bat II (from the cartwheel edition) booklets (apperently he had never seen it before, he looked surpirzed by the size)
And I once spoke briefly with Chris Caffery from Savatage, after the show way back in '98...

Other than that, I've met no-one 'famous'. Had some emails from Arjen Lucassen, Erik Norlander and Steve Buslowe though...

My claim to fame is that i told Charlotte Church's Auntie to F**K OFF!!!!!

When i worked as a bouncer at a pub, Cheryl Church used to do the rounds as a caberet singer, and as Mousie will know, when you sing in a pub, you hafta have loads of equipment with you, amps, speakers all that kinda stuff.
Well, Ms. Church had finished her set for the night, and was packing up - she started carrying her stuff outside - me being the perfect lady held the door open for her, so she could get by, and she starts mouthing....saying things like 'well...i can't believe i have to carry my own stuff...you could give a hand' and all that crap. If she'd have asked in the beginning, i would have, no problem, but then she said 'Do you know who i am???'
'i am Charlotte Church's Aunt' quoth she. 'i don't really care' said i, and informed her that i was there to work for the owners of the pub, not as her personal lackey.
She wasn't very impressed, and told me so. I then told her that i didn't really care, and asked her why she just din't F-off and stop annoying me.

So that's my claim to fame......

I had a chat with Mel C (sporty spice) at a Music Festival - she had just performed and her set didn't go down too well and was 'Bottled Off' stage, but she was very nice and quite chatty.

Also met a few soap stars and l met Steve Lamaq (Radio 1 DJ) and Ben From Cooper Temple Clause (newish punk band) at Glastonbury last year.

I met David Coulthard at a car show. Met Ali Paton (gladiator Siren) a couple of times, once at school where she and a well known footballer (completely forgotten who though) were opening our new gym hall and once in the street.

I've also known Gail Porter since I was about 6 months old, she used to live across the street from me and I still see her when she visits her mum (would it make anyone jealous if I said that I've been in the same bed as her, many times ). Through Gail I've also met TV presenters Tim Vincent and Chris Jarvis (anyone remember them?), Kieth forgotten his last name from The Prodigy, her husband Dan Hipgrave (ex-Toploader guitarist) and Craig Charles (Red Dwarf)

I don't really remember this as I was only a little kid at the time but apparently I met David Attenbourgh when my mum was at a book signing of his.

Strong man-Geoff Capes.(My mum shouted at him )

Well, I have met William G. Stewart (quiz show presenter) last time I was on 15-to-1!!!!

I have met the late Dame Thora Hird and the chappie who played Barry in "Last of the summer wine" It is filmed very near to where I lvie so I watch them film it regularly!

Stood quite close to gary lineker when he was filming a Walkers Crisp advert in halifax (the one where he goes down the steep hill on the bike!)

Richard thorpe who plays Alan Turner in Emmerdale, He lived just up the road and I regularly almost knock him off his harley when i am delivering newspapers.

The Duke Of Edinburgh, HRH Prince phillip, when he visited Coventry Uni with the Queen. I shook his hand when they did a walkabout. I ahd only nipped out for a pint of milk!!!!!

Sir Patrick Moore who was at an astronomy convention when I was at uni. He sat at our table in the canteen regaling us with stories!!!! Brian may, Guitarist from Queen was sat just across the room.

The lad who used to be in the comedy Butterflies, not Nick Lyndhurst, the other one!!!!

Kenneth Clarke, ex-MP, was in a train ahving blagged an upgrade to first class and he was the only person in the carriage with me so he shared round his choccie biccies!!! And wehn Tony Blair visited our town, I was one of the shopkeepers stood ont he steps not letting him in any shops as a protest!!!

And finally, I was there, getting an autograph, the day Jason Donovan was evicted from harrods for wearing denim shorts!!!! I still have the piece of paper with half an autograph on from when the security guards dragged him away!!!

Well actually for the benefit of all the newbies I went to bed with Meat Loaf on Monday 12th May 2003, and on the 16th May 2003 thousands witnessed it Meat Loaf also sang 2 out of 3 ain't bad up close and personal to me, Meat also placed his hand in mine under covers! :P

I've also groped Meat Loafs leg many eons ago at the Hammersmith Apollo when I tried to pull thonging from his trousers Did the same to Bob Kulick.

Appeared in my red blouse at the Brixton Academy when Meat Loaf recorded the Bad Attitude Video - look for me there I go

Met Graham Norton and shook hands and chatted to him

I appeared as an extra in Hards Days Night - met the Beatles, Wilfred Brambell, Richard Lester sat next to him.

Have met the cast from Londons Burning on a promotional fire station day.

Have Sue Pollard and Dickie Henderson autograph - well actually thats my daughters from eons ago when we were on holiday at Camber Sands.

Met Patrick McGoohan - through my foster Uncle who worked at the studios where Danger Man was filmed

I'm sure I'll think of more later

Dottie,

Wait a minute....you've been in bed with Meat (via G. Norton) AND met the Beatles? I'm sorry young lady, but you have exceeded your celebrity good fortune quota for your lifetime! Forthwith, if any celebrity is within a mile of you you'll have to stay in your closet at home. :P Just kidding, but that is amazing! Oh my goodness, Meat was holding you hand under the covers- that is very, very cool.

Don't want to lower the tone here but can't resist it
Notice Dottie makes no mention of what she was holding

I have met quite a few celebs inc. Meat and it has always been a lovely surprise to find how kind these people are. The one exception was some years back in a London Hotel that shall remain nameless I was at the bar when a bloke barged by and yelled at the bar staff who hurried to serve him. I promptly gave him a mouthfull told him he was arrogant ignorant etc etc......and marched back to my table where my by this time bright red husband informed me it was Paul Gasgoine the "crying" footballer...............never liked the bloke anyway
