That doesn't surprise me actually. The movie is crap, the effects were rubbish and the ET dolls always did look far too red/pink from what I remember.

Orcas (killer whales) kill sharks by torpedoing up into the shark's stomach from underneath, causing the shark to explode.

So they could've avoided making the sequels to Jaws if they'd just found a killer whale
