Default Best Concert You've Seen?

Apart From Meat Loaf what is the best concert that you have ever been to?
You can include anything from small club, Arena or even Festivals.

Mine would have to be

Guns N' Roses - Leeds Festival 2002
Paul McCartney - Manchester MEN 2003
Manic Street Preachers - Cardiff Millenium Stadium 1999/2000
Fun Lovin' Criminals - Manchester Life Cafe 2000

APART FROM MEAT LOAF (sorry,I had to stress that part ),the best gigs i've been to were by a band called Profesor Longhair.
They play a lot of R&B (real R&B,not the rubbish that passes for it these days).Wilson Picket,Joe Cocker that kind of thing. They have a fantastic brass section and the lead singer has a great voice .

Default Got to share my opinion!

I have been very lucky in my life to see many rock and roll shows. I will stress NO ONE HAS EVER PERFORMED AS WELL AS MEAT! Okay, we all all know that. But if I was to list the performers that gave it all I would say, Joe Cocker, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Jethro Tull (in the 70's) and Leo Sayer(opened for Joe Walsh, he sucked). That is only the top few of all the shows I have attended. These performances really stuck with me for many years and I still enjoy the memories!

I've been lucky to see concerts from every genre from Rock, Country, Gospel, Classical..you name it LOL But.. apart from Meat. There are a few that stick in my mind..

Kasim Sulton.. Twice in New York City, Once in Philadelphia :) Hey.. that goes without saying.. He's the Best! :)

Cyndi Lauper Nov 13, 1983.. my first rock concert.. Belated Birthday Present from my parents :)

Paul Young November 5, 1985.. My actual 15th Birthday again a gift from Mum and Dad :) He was really awesome.. He's also worked with Patti as part of the SAS Band.

Can't exactly remember the dates of the others..but some of my favs were..

Ty Herndon... see him numerous times! Ladies..if you haven't seen this man perform Joe Cocker's "You Can Leave Your Hat On" OMG!!!! He does things with a hat that...well..never mind www.tyherndon.com. He's gorgeous!! Popular in Country Music scene.

Garth Brooks twice and met him once :) No words can describe.. he's not a concert.. He's an experience!! :)
Billy Ray Cyrus too many times to count He gives the best hugs!
Huey Lewis and the News..AWESOME drum solo at that show. :) and that was me and Mum on a Girls Night Out :)
Power Station.. (Duran Duran spin off Band) What teenaged girl wasn't in love with John Taylor in 1986?? :P

My goal is to hopefully see Sir Paul McCartney and Billy Joel before they decide to retire form touring!!
Thanks for letting us share.. Great topic!! :)

Love and Laughs..

I'm really embarrassed to admit, that apart from Meat, the only other concert i've been to was Boyzone concert

I was young, very nieve, and took my 11 year old niece with me cos she really wanted to see them...or that's my excuse, anyway...

First I have to say that the best concert I have ever been to was Meat in about 1990 at Jannus Landing in St Petersburg, Florida. All concerts since have been measured by this and none have lived up. 'nuff said

Other great concerts I have been to....

Indigo Girls 1989 Tampa Theatre, Tampa Florida (I know Kasim has played with them- I wonder if he was at this show)

Billy Joel 1987 University of South Florida Sundome, Tampa, Florida (my first concert ever, me and all my best high school friends slept on the sidewalk all night to buy tickets)

Paul Simon 1990 University of South Florida Sundome,Tampa, Florida ( I again slept on the sidewalk all night to buy tickets, the night before my college graduation- I was a sleep deprived zombie as I received my degree!)

James Taylor 2001, Ice Palace, Tampa, Florida

Ladysmith Black Mambazo, 1987, Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater, Florida

Default Performing!

Let's put it this way, of the shows I listed, the performers gave about 90%, but Fire Ball you always give 110%. Above and beyond any performer I've ever seen.

ROCK ON FIRE BALL!!!

I also saw The Who in 2000 at Sheffield Arena, they were great but I'd have loved to have seen them around the same time as Fireball.
The Who's Next album is a classic so it would have been great, especially with Moon The Loon on drums!

Hi Heat.
Carol was a Boyzone fan too. That means we have great conversations whenever I bring up the fact that they couldn't sing No Matter What to save their lives .
Gina,I don't know about Duran Duran, but I do know that Carol had a slight crush on a famous Rock god who just happens to visit this forum .(oh my god, she's going to kill me when she sees i've written that ).
Hey Meat,I was suprised that you never mentioned Joe Cocker.I remember reading in To Hell And Back that you really liked him.
I was even more suprised that you mentioned the Backstreet Boys .

I have a far far worse confession to make.

I have only been to 2 concerts in my life. The first was "Welcome to the Neighbourhood" and the second was...

(this is so embarrassing )

Chris De Burgh in Birmingham 2001!!!!!

If you want to see a lot of bands at once then I would suggest you go to a festival as there will be loads of bands on all day - I've seen over 100 bands most of them at festivals.

Default Live concerts

The closest I've ever been to a live concert was watching my former high school's talent quest. I was a judge one year. I also watched some school gospel choirs compete once. Really good!

I've only seen one concert and that was wednesday. So I never went to another concert than a Meat concert. But Meat is always great.

Well i've only ever been to two concerts the first and the best was Meat Loaf at Hyde park in london last year

The second was a Moody Blues concert also last year. it was a small venue so it was really good! even though we were at the back we were quite near the stage

I've been at least twice every time meats toured over here since 1983 including Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park, Hammersmith Apollo lost track now but Meats the best - also seen All Motown Stars Phil Collins The Who
Millie Jackson Issac Hayes could go on and on - even appeared in a Meatloaf video recorded at "the Brixton Academy Bad Attitude" arranged through the "old meat loaf club" for fan club members only - have also appeared in a "Hard Days Night" through the Barbra Speake School of Dancing which I used to attend in the early 60's now I feel old I count myself as being very luckily -
