Meatles is the name of one of the members here .
Haven't seen him for a long time though.
Anyway,back on topic.
Is anybody else in an area of the UK where the single has never been released?

Keep going everyone.
Let's do this for the big guy.

On a related note, Popb*tch is an online newsletter which provides all the people who write showbiz columns in he papers with the gossip and predictions etc etc. Anywya, they are predicted that CHSIB will enter the charts in a fairly good position this sunday. Watch and wait....

Default CHSIB moving up the Amazon UK charts

Wow- I checked the ranking for the CHSIB single on Amazon UK about two hours ago and it was at 534. As of a few minutes ago it is up to 306- a pretty good leap for a few hours!

should have mentioned earlier I think someone at sometime asked the question about when the cut off date is for the current weeks chart calculation. An independant retailer told me it was sales from saturday to saturday dont know if this is right and to be honest it don't make sense to me 'cos each week they'd be counting a days worth of sales that had already been counted in the previous week. Does that make any sense or am I now just so exhausted I'm babbling and generally talking rot?

Default HMV and Virgin

Hi everyone...

Went into HMV in Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, asked if they had it they said no, assistant wasn't very helpful so gave them good dressing down. Must be one of the ones that are sold out and that was why they didn't have it.

Went into Virgin and shelf was filled this evening, now have 5 copies in my posession.

I am having problems getting hold of tickets to either Birmingham, Cardiff or Manchester, all the tickets that seem to be available on the ticketmaster site are towards the back. Anyone know where i might be able to get better seated tickets?

Actually looking forwards to listening to the chart for once instead of dreading the usual dribble that is on the chart, hurray for excellent music again!

Regards
Freddy

Default Great Work!!!

WOW, I'm so impressed with everyone's efforts! Thank you to all the UK folks that have the ability to go out and pound the pavement. Wish I could but I'm stuck in the US with only the online attack. However, I am wishful all this hard work will help with the US label taking notice!

Thank you to Caryl for showing us the site that is shipping this week! I was so confused over the release dates and who had what! Let's all not give up after this onslaught, let's keep it up!

ROCK ON FIRE BALL!

Been looking round Amazon UK, the album is up to #7 in their sales rank (#2 in the pre-releases).

The single is at #300 in the sales rank, according to them it's not released until the 21st (???) so it's showing up at #4 in their pre-releases.

Dan asked:
how does this meet ad greet work? do we send proof of purchase off or what?

Apart from Meat tearing in and asking us to help and making the offer nothing more has been said as to the detail. But November's a long way off, and if Meat makes a promise I think we can rely on him to make it work :)

He was more concerned about re-imbursing people, but I don;'t think anybody wants that .. just the chance to help, and to meet him when he's on tour as the icing on the cake ..

And a very good evening to everyone!! Back from a nap and with dinner duties out of the way, I'm here for the evening/morning and looking forward to it.

Been trying to catch up on all your news, while I was gone.

Hey, Chris, if you're still out there, I think Mariella was asking you if PopB*tch was something that could be read online. I think we'd all like to read an early prediction that CHSIB is going to do well in the charts. Of course, we fans already KNEW it's going to. Give us a link, if you can, Chris. Okay?

I'm sure that if there hadn't been this last-minute switch of release dates, then all would have been well and Meat, and we, wouldn't be going through this. But it made so much sense for him to have this week to promote the album BEFORE its release. As for the single, I suppose it, too, should have postponed for the week, especially seeing what has happened, but then, isn't hindsight wonderful?! But no matter...here we all are, working and hoping for the best for Meat!

Hey, Sin! Thanks for the info about the cut-off. The person was probably saying that the chart runs from Saturday TO Saturday, which means we continue to push for sales until midnight tonight for this week's all-important first listing. Good to know this! It's still a shame this is all happening on Good Friday and I have no idea how that's going to affect it.

Tell me, friends, do stores usually close up early on this day in the UK? Here in the States, some businesses close up for a couple of hours--often between noon and two in the afternoon and then, run as usual business hours. But I have no idea what the tradition is there. Might be good to know, if you do.

Way to go, Vicki! You'll probably get yours before I get mine, which shipped yesterday, since you're on the East Coast. We always have to wait longer for things out here in the West.

A big welcome to all you newcomers. Nice to have y'all with us! Meat can use all the help he can get right now from the sounds of his urgent requests yesterday. I do wish we had some idea of how we have been doing, but perhaps, even Meat doesn't know. He might have to wait for the lists to come out like the rest of us. Wish I knew more about this entire process, but I guess we're all learning here, as we go, and will continue to in the days ahead.

Hey, Dan, don't apologize for the questions. I think most of us have just been scrambling here the past day or so, trying to 'get the job done,' to think about that very much.

But I think you're so right, Caryl. He did seem much more concerned about buying back CDs from those who were willing to get extras to help him. I'm sure he'll work out the Meet and Greets later (I always thought it would have been better to have been "Meat and Greets" :) ), or assign someone to help him organize all that. Heaven knows, he's got enough on his mind right now, with promoting the new CD everywhere he can in Europe. And then, he has to get ready for the tour which starts in a couple of months. Not a lot of time to do it all!

Dan, I absolutely loved your line about sending in 'proof of purchase'!! You don't mind my teasing a little, do you? I immediately got this mental image of him validating parking, too! Sorry. I just couldn't resist it!!

But seriously, from the sounds of it, he intended for those who wanted compensation for the extra CDs to bring them along to the M&G and then he'll take them, and autograph one to give back to you. Most of us have indicated that we do not want compensation for any of this. Meat has already given us more than enough through the years, by sharing his talents with us. Besides, this is what fans do. What are we good for, if not helping out the person we care about when asked?? And Meat does not ask very often. So, it's been a real pleasure and joy to be here and be able to do what we can--if only in a small way. :)

I'm sure he'll tell all of us how to go about getting the backstage passes for the M&Gs, when he has the time. Some of us will be looking foward to them as soon as June, and throughout the summer months, here in the States. So, keep checking back at this website and forum, guys. That's the best any of us can say right now.

Thanks for the info on Nottingham, Dan. It does sound as though the Virgin Megastores around the country are the best stocked right now. So, those of you who will be heading out early Friday to go get yours, keep that in mind, as well as your local HMV shops--some of which still have copies and some, apparently, have already sold out.

Freddy, I don't know about tickets to the shows there. I do know that there have been tickets up on auction at ebay--almost from the moment they went on sale to the public. But be prepared to pay a hefty amount there. It's a scalper's world, I'm afraid.

Also, sometimes, in some venues, the Fan Club has special seating reserved for members only. So, perhaps you can check into that, if you're interested. They may not have details yet, since, as Caryl said, you have until November for the concerts in the UK. But it's something to look into. I hope that helps.

Robert, thanks for the info on Wakefield. Let us know what you find out tomorrow there, so others in the area, who might be reading this forum thread, will know what to do.

Thanks for the latest update on Amazon, Termin8orjen. I can't believe how the numbers have changed during the course of one day!! It's really getting exciting. I just wish, for Meat's sake, it was happening THIS week instead of next, when Amazon gets its supply! Oh well...

Let's talk about the 'gameplan' for today, if that's all right, now knowing that it's likely Friday midnight will be the cut-off for this week's chart.

First, and I suppose, most importantly, we need to get new people here to understand the urgency of Meat's request, who will continue to buy CDs either online or in their local areas. Most of us have already purchased what extras we can afford to. So, we need 'new blood,' so to speak. If you correspond with people who might be interested, or if you're on a mailing list where you could post what's going on, that would be one way of getting the word out.

Those of you who have Meat-related websites: PLEASE let your readers and visitors know of this situation.

I have a silly idea in the back of my head. I don't know why it came to me. You all know the old wartime poster, with the U.S. Uncle Sam looking straight out, finger pointing straight out toward the viewer and the poster says, "Uncle Sam Wants You"? Well, how about Meat's face in a similar pose. Oh, you get the idea. I suppose it would have to be "Needs" instead of "Wants"...but...I know. I get these silly ideas sometimes. Believe me, they come uninvited.

Anyway, the important thing is to make as many people as possible aware of the situation, so that they can join in and help Meat.

Since there was no emailed message from the other fan club, I'm assuming Meat either was too busy or decided not to involve those people. It's a shame, though. I'm sure they would have loved the opportunity to help him, as we are. But that's the way it is. If you know people, though, in the OFIC, I'm sure it'll be all right to inform them about all this, so that they can choose to get involved or not.

Can any of you come up with other ways to let people know TODAY about the situation? Please post them here. Okay? The more ideas we have to work with, the better!!

Second, as we talked about yesterday, with Sin's plan, it would probably be a good idea for all of us to do our bit today to hit the radio stations around the country. We still need those of you in the UK to help supply contact phone numbers for people to call in and request CHSIB to be played.

Also, since I now know there are also local independent stations in the UK, perhaps some of them have websites. And radio websites often have ways of listening to them online, like the BBC does at their website. Good thing about radio websites: They always have a way to email them to share your thoughts. This is something that ALL of us can do right now, whether we're in the UK or not. Anyone can email a radio website and put in a request!!

But once again, friends, we need the help of those in the UK, who can share with everyone major rock 'n' roll Radio station names/Call Letters (how ever your stations are called). That way, we can find out if they ARE on the web. Stations that are not internet-based will have to be phoned by those of you in the UK.

So, please, begin to build a list of major places CHSIB could (and should) be played. Then, we can all get busy and contact them in whatever way is appropriate.

Getting a lot of airplay right now is vital to the success of the single and the album, which follows next week. Meat's appearance on TOTPs is going to give it a huge boost, too!!

That's all I can think of from here at the moment. As the night and day progresses, if you have ideas of ways to help Meat, PLEASE share them! We've got to put our heads together to create the most effective plan. So, speak up. The more of you, the better!

I'd better send this post off or I'll be typing here the rest of the night.

Looking forward to hearing what y'all have to say and what's been happening there with you!

Let's get this 'Good' Friday rolling for Meat... :P

I THINK i might have a nice way of getting word out to people online, but im not sure i'll be able to create it so short notice in a super duper 'amazing' way or anything, but i'll give it a shot. But i figured since it sounds like this needs to be done ASAP today (its 1am EST here, i'll do my best to get it done by mid afternoon UK time, but i need some sleep first! :) !) for this to lend a hand, i figured to ask for ideas.

I'm looking for quotes for a good description of the single -- hopefully just a sentence or two and something that would catch a potential buyer's eye. Like i said, its pretty late here at the moment and its been a loooooong day, so my 'creative' side is a little slow. The only kind of quotes i can come up with is stuff like: "The passion is building...The Sparks fly once again between Meat Loaf and Patti Russo...in the duet Couldnt Have Said It Better...." -- see, i think it kinda needs work; does anyone have anything better descriptive quote wise?? If not, i'll do my best to come up with something on my own, but feel free to post any ideas!

Oh, basically what this will be is a thing people will be able to send to others that is like a mini animated advert. Ive never done any before, but even before this week, was looking into how to make some, but i thought maybe this is the best cause(the single buy-a-thon) to jump right in and give it a try! Also at the end of the advert, as long as i figure it all out, i can input links and such -- the HMV site is the best site to direct people to, correct? Should i just skip Amazon.uk or is that a good one to send people to as well? Any others? Let me know please, thanks!!

Hi Jen!

What a great idea !! And you're just the creative person to do it :)
Sorry I can't think of any good quotes, but if there's anything else I can do to help, please let me know! Definitely the best link is the HMV site ...... I think Amazon.uk still lists the single as being released on April 21st

Thanks!
