You know what I don't understand, guys? If a chain picks something up, why doesn't every store have it--or at least, know about it?? It doesn't make sense unless your store chains work differently than they do over here. Maybe things are decided manager by manager, although that doesn't really make sense, does it?! Wouldn't that be too chaotic in terms of keeping track of the stock???

It sounds like Virgin Megastores have it around the country, just as many of the HMVs do. I called the Virgin store yesterday on Oxford Street because Sue W had stated they had a lot of them. But they wouldn't ship overseas. But it's good to know that there are two major names out there who DO carry CHSIB.

That's good for everyone out here to know!

Hi, Caryl! Welcome back. Good to see you! You lucky soul--enjoying your single! Can't wait to get mine! But I know it'll take awhile to get across the ocean! Still and all...it'll be well worth the wait! :)

I'm sorry, Mariella, about your credit card. I can't believe there's one they don't take. I thought businesses were so hard up these days that they'd take practically anything!!! But you're still being a big help and that's what counts!!

Great job so far, everyone!! I think Meat has the BEST fans in the whole world!!!!!!!

Gotta leave for a little while to take care of my parents, but I'll be back soon...Wish there was more I could do from here...

Default email contacts

I'm trying to do my part- since I'm in the US (and on work time until 9PM GMT ) I'm working on emailing record stores and online shops in the UK that do not have the single in stock. In case other want to do the same, here are the contacts:

101 CD's (their banner says "perhaps the largest selection of new CD's in the UK"- but no CHSIB!) email: service@101cd.com

At the Zone email: feedback@thezone.co.uk
(this one is returning as a full mailbox)

Tower Records email: ukservice@towerrecords.co.uk
(they have the full album on preorder but not the single)

CD Wow email: help@cd-wow.com
(same story, full album but no single)

WHSmith email: customer.relations@whsmith.co.uk

Now I am off to buy copies at hmv- I hope we can work hard and make a difference for Meat!

Hi Sherrie,

How great of you to do this at work!

Seems HMV is the place to buy, wonder if they have enough copies.
Are you as tired as I am? But it is worth it!

Great day to you,

Hi! I'm back from giving my parents breakfast and trying to catch up on the news that happened while I was gone.

Barmad--that's terrific! You cleaned out your area!!! Can you tell us if the stores you got them from were chain stores or independents? If they were part of a chain, post their names here, so that others can check them in their local areas to see if CHSIB is there!!

Sin: You hit upon the perfect idea--contacting the radio stations. That has to be our next major move, I would think. The more people who hear the song, the more of them who will want to go out and buy it--if they can find it right now, that is!

Help me out here, friends, since I must plead innocent to how your radio works in the UK. I know, of course, about all the BBC radio stations because they are online. But are the stations in the UK ALL national ones or do you also have local radio stations? We used to have major national radio stations here--still do have few, but mostly, we have evolved into lots and lots of local stations for every city.

If you only have national ones there, then start hitting them hard with requests and don't take no for an answer. You've been waiting to hear this song. You KNOW it's been released and you WANT to hear it! If they tell you that their playlist is made up elsewhere, find out where and then, like Sin, begin to hit THEM hard.

Now, if you have local stations as well, it will be up to each of you to hit your area's radio and do the same thing. If we get enough of us doing it, then, we should have some success, at least.

If any of you want to post contact numbers for your major radio stations here, that would be great and make it easier for everyone to begin hitting them with requests!

Great idea, Sin!

Hi, Sherrie, you naughty person, working on the clock!! Don't worry. WE won't tell on you!!

Looking at your list, I'm wondering if the Tower Records you contacted is the SAME as our Tower Record chain over here. That's major, if it is. Does anyone know if they are one and the same? Keep it up, Sherrie, if you can, but don't get yourself into trouble because of it. Maybe by contacting all these online stores, they'll begin to realize there's a demand for this CD and at least, order it!!

Mariella: Congrats, girl!! Way to go! As they say, "Where there's a will..." NO, I'm NOT going to say--there's a relative!! Oh, would I do such a thing???!!

I gotta share a story with you before I end this post. About 8 months ago, we moved my parents in with us to take care of them for the rest of their lives. They both turned 89 a month ago.

And of course, since they moved in, I've been sharing Meat with them. Now, in the beginning, I didn't expect them to like the music because, quite frankly, it's not typically their kind of music. But much to my surprise and delight, they loved him!! Almost immediately!!

I've been playing the videos and playing all the CDs for them. My dad's so cute. He gets this funny little look on his face when he's watching Meat. He really likes when I play one of the older tapes with Bob Kulick on it. I think it's because my dad doesn't have a lot of hair left and he sort of identifies with him.

By the way, do any of you remember--just yesterday on some show, if memory serves (and very often these days, it doesn't), Meat was giving the age range of his fans and I think he said it was from 9 to 72 or something like that? And I remember smiling to myself when I heard that because I KNEW I had it beat!! From now on, he's got to say from 9 (or whatever) to 89!!!

I have reached a point where I am no longer amazed at his ability to reach beyond the generations and touch people's hearts!! Stop worrying about your birthdate and year, Meat. You are timeless. You are ageless...

Anyway, sorry--getting back to my story: When I was downstairs a little while ago, I was telling my folks about everything that's happening here with Meat and the problems with the CD. And don't you know, they told me to go and buy 10 more CDs for THEM to try to help out!

So, like Mariella, I'm off to HMV again to order more, hoping they still have some left.

Talk with you all soon!! Keep it going, friends!!!

Yes, the Tower records email I posted is the same parent company as the Tower records in the US- this is just the UK base for it.

I just got back from ordering my copies of the single from hmw, and they ARE remarkably low priced, even when shipped to America. I got five copies plus air mail shipping for just a touch over $25 American. For you Brits, it would only be 14.95 (pounds) plus shipping- order a few there too!

I'll be giving extras to my coworker, my best friend, my parents (who are Meat's age).....anyone who I can to convince them to buy the full album once it hits our shores.

Telephone number for Capitol Radio 020 7766 6000 they also control the playlists for local independant radio stations.

I've just had a telephone call from a VERY helpful lady called Lorraine at HMV she has check HMV stocks across UK and says that the only HMV stores currently without stocks of CHSIB are:-

Bradford
Cabary Warf
Covent Garden
East Kilbride
Heathrow Terminal 1
Reading (Friars)
Tunbridge Wells

She says that all stores have had stock although it was late and those stores that are now out of stock its because they've been SOLD.

Lunchtime today HMV in Rotherham (Parkgate, if anyone knows it) had approx 15 copies in the "new releases" section. Bought what I could afford, of course!

But, if anyone in the area wants to buy the rest, they are in stock.

Hope we make it!

Default Amazon Sales Ranking

Sorry I disappeared for a while, but somehow work interferes with my love of great music. Just home for my lunch hour, will disappear again. MB, great job keeping everyone inspired! Don't worry about sending an email, this is way more important. You can find the sales ranking on Amazon right above the track listing on the description page of the item. The single is now ranked 320 and the ablum 5.

Will be back later, great way to band together guys!!!!!!

ROCK ON FIRE BALL!

Great news, Sin! Actually, that's really great news, because earlier today we heard that several HMV stores around the country did NOT have CHSIB in. If that means they didn't have it because it was sold out, then sales may have been better than was first thought. We can hope that's the case, anyway.

Thanks for the Capitol Radio phone number. Sounds like it's a good one for everyone to start calling and requesting that CHSIB be played!!

And Dottie--congratulations!! Glad to hear your area has finally gotten things in! If the independent store there has already SOLD OUT the album, I'm confused. Is it for sale NOW? I thought it wasn't being released until April 21st. I guess maybe some stores are selling it early?? Can they do that?? Still, no matter what, it's good to know the CDs are going!!! That's the main thing!

Good job, Dottie!! Hope others in your part of the country will see your post and get going on these things, too!

JM: Thanks for continuing to look!! Sounds like your area just won't be getting it until the 21st! That's a shame, but it's out of your hands! At least, you tried!!! As for the album deserving to go to the top, well, you know what we all would probably say to that...C. H. S. I. B. (myself). :P

Mikey: Good find!! Let's hope someone else in your area will see your post and go get 'em!!

Thanks, Jules, for understanding about not writing. I'm going to go take a quick peek at Amazon now that I know where to look. The CD single is REALLY selling there!! Terrific news! You know, if we CAN get it into the Top Ten this week, then next week, with Amazon and everyone else finally fulfilling their orders, this song could go all the way to...well, maybe I won't jinx it by saying it here. Having a little superstition is always good, I think.

I'm not sure how much more we all can do with 'physical' stores today, since it's getting late in the UK.

But for those of you just finding and reading this thread, who want to help Meat, it's never too late to order online--doors never close, open 24 hours. :P And the best place for that (the most likely place to have it in stock RIGHT NOW) is still at http://www.HMV.co.uk, as you've seen in Caryl's posts!

If you want to strike out early tomorrow to buy what you can, as you just read from Sin, most HMV stores have (or had) it. Maybe call first to make sure. Also Virgin Megastores around the UK also seem to have it readily in stock.

Tomorrow, in addition to buying what CDs we all can, we should think about continuing the campaign Sin started by phoning and/or emailing radio stations around the country to request CHSIB be played. The sooner people hear the song and the more they hear it, the sooner they will want to go out and buy it!

Right, Meat?!!

You've gone quiet on us today, mister. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Here's hoping this did you some good today and that we can continue that good through the night online and on Friday.

We still need to know how long we have to make this push for you. Is Friday the end day of the Chart Week? Or, if you released the CD on Monday, do we have until Sunday to push for sales??

I'll be back later today and through the night (early morning UK) and catch up then on what you guys have continued to share here. Right now, I'm off to grab a couple hours of zzzzz. It's been a while since I did a 24+hour stint. I don't think my body's used to this anymore.

Take care, everyone. Thanks for a productive day!! It's been fun being with all of you. Hope the sales continues through the night online, as more people join us!!

Sending love and peace to each of you!! See ya all a little later!

I May go to Teeside Retail Park or Middlesbrough instead and look in the HMV there

Hi JCM.
To save you making too many journeys, check out the HMV website.
In the right hand side of the page, there is a store seach facility.
If you click on it,you will be asked to type in the name of a town.
When you do that,a list of branches will come up.Click on the branch you want, and you'll get the contact details including the phone number.
It could save you a lot of time.
Good hunting .

Keep going everyone.
Let's do this for the big guy.
