There's no chance of a simple life Deb

Lucy - I had a similar response when I spoke to a guy from Celtic Manor yesterday.

As far as I can gather, RM, no one knows for definite who the final American players will be & I'd guess that organizers of the American team are frantically trying to sort everything out!!

I would not be surprised if Meat himself doesn't know for certain whether or not he is playing - perhaps he is trying to juggle various promotional activities!

If that interviewers telling the truth and that was yesterday, then I think meat will be there. If he's telling fibs to make it sound better and it was really when they were here for the Listening Party, then i don;t think meat will be there lol. (God I even confuse myself)

Have to laugh at this bit from the interview....

Presenter: And what will we see in the autumn time?

Meat: The leaves changing colour

Ok, this is getting a bit too obsessive now but I have just phoned Radio Ulster &, for what it’s worth, the lady there said that the interview definitely took place yesterday

I'll be going on the Monday if all goes well and Meat is there - I can't make the earlier days.

Sounds like fun though! Hopefully I'll see some of you guys there if you go! Enjoy Sat and Sun if you go to them too!

LOL. Quite true Deb. But if we end up standing in a “field” in south wales (possibly in the rain) for the whole of the bank holiday weekend & only manage photos of Alice I don’t think we’re going to be particularly happy!! (no offense to Alice or his many fans)

Here's the meat (so to speak) of the feature:-

"I'm Going to be wearing a nice little outfit" laughed his royal Meatness, counjouring the image of him in plus-fours and a lemon yellow Pringle jumper.

"But Tiger Woods plays golf, what I'll be doing is something else entirely. I don't play golf in my spare time because I don't have spare time but. But when I had to ride a horse for a film I went to horse riding school and what I learned was not how to ride a horse but how to look like I could ride a horse. Likewise I went to golf school for a day to learn some techniques and they gave me some great advice. Am I expecting to win? Let's put it this way, I play golf a certain way - I'm the golf illusionist. I don't like people to be quiet when I'm playing. In fact I encourage people to shout at me on my backswing and make loads of noise so that when I hit the ball I can reply to those shouts so the crowd are looking at me and not where the ball goes. It's a deception."

Meat Loaf is back in the UK to promote his latest album Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose, the second sequel to the eighthmost successful album in history. It's had a troubled birth with El Loaf involved in a legal wrangle over the rights to the Bat Out Of Hell trademark with his partner and songwriter Jim Steinman.

"The problem is that Jim hates my manager and I hate Jim's manager, we each think the other is the Devil incarnate. So the communication broke down and if Jim and I could have just sat down and talked about it we would have been fine but once other people's agendas interfere it becomes a different thing."

The dispute was resolved and Steinman has contributed 7 songs to the new album so are they on good terms?

"Yeah, me and Jim are getting on fine. After this album there is a boxed set coming out so I see e-mails flying between him and my manager."
But do you actually talk to each other?

"We talk on e-mail"

It seems a tense relationship based on mutual need but he sharply countered the intimation that he need Steinman to succeed.
The new album has several influences outside of Steinman with performances from Brian May and Steve Vai and writing from Nikki Six and John 5. It's produced by Desmond Child who has altered Meat Loaf's vocal style to make him hold back more. The result is a record that, while perhaps inadvisably harder-edged in production to make it more 'now', features some of Meat Loaf's best vocal work to date.

"I read interviews with people in magazines and they talk about what their influences are, who their contemporaries are, but I don't exist in that world. For me it's about the lyrics and the emotions because all that matters to me is what I'm doing. Bat Out Of Hell is like nothing else out there."

Bat out of Hell III is out on October 31. Tickets for the Golf are available at the gate on all three days with parking available on park and ride only.

****************

Phew! That took some doing! Pretty good interview for the Echo I think - especially interested in the box-set due out, hopefully with some bonus features (though I'll probably get it even if it doesn't).

Hope you guys appreciate all that typing and that someone hasn't beaten me and scanned the page!!!!
