The point of Fred is probably something different for every visitor.
Some people like to chat with "artificial intelligence", some probably don't.
Some people like visiting an empty forum, some don't.
That's why I said that people need to find out for themselves.

Nobody is forcing you to read what Fred posts.
If Fred annoys you, you can get rid of him with two mouseclicks.
That was my advice for you, Sue. But obviously you didn't read my post.

I didn't read what "Fred" posted. I read and replied to Testify in what I felt was a humorous manner... :) ...

I did read your post, however, and being of free will shall do as I please with your advice ...

Actually - no.
The bot comes in two parts, the program and the brain files.
What I did was installing the programm and selecting the brain files. That's all.

I did however spent hours on debugging and fixing that mess.

As Fred has invaded the "Shoutbox" too, I have included the ignore logic in the shoutbox scripts.
If you add any user to your ignore list, you won't see his shouts in the shoutbox.
