Could you believe surfing's feeling is as same as a night with a girl's feeling?

I'm not a surfer but I can imagine there is a special rush of surfing and when being with a partner is also a rush so I can believe it is like that

Why? Because you don't have a partner to get that rush with feeling "Surf's up" with togehter?

Hmmmm, I'd have been curious to here how much better this track would've sounded if Steinman had produced it..as it is I'll give it a 8.5!

I've really enjoyed JS lyrics with all the different levels of meanings that could be interprited. That is untill I heard this the first time on BFG. I think JS went to far with this one, too blatent. Still I was curious as too what I would think if the voice was singing it. Well here's my answer. ML is in fine form but it's not enough to save this Stienman song.
4/10

Well, here you go you dum swede (I'm a finn...)

I've always understood that it means that he's "up" as well. Surf is up and so is he. And what this "up" means should be pretty obvious.

On Jim Steinman fans tribute album "Nothing But a Merciless Night" there ist a cover sung by a woman. She sings "Surf's wet and so am I." :)

I love this song, it's among my top five Steinsongs but I preger "Jim's" (Rory Dodd's) version of the song. I think his gentle beautiful voice suits better to this type of song, besides the whole production is so much _more_ than on the Meat's version. Other than that, I don't like the fact that Meat's version is faster than the original.

In my opinion the only Meat cover that's significantly better than the original is Out of the Frying Pan.

Meat: 8/10
Rory: 10/10

this song is made for an up tempo disco version! Just like they have done with total eclipse of the heart. I think Jim was inspired by it, cause he made an up tempo 2 outta 3 for Bonnie. Surf's up needs an up tempo house disco rap version! With a big giant female voice : i've got the power!"

I really love this song, the emotions are so powerful, you can't help being swept along by it (just like a really big wave! ).

Of the two versions, Meat's is definitely my favourite: no one can sing a Steinsong like Meat. His voice is so powerful and raw, that it almost makes me get up in sympathy .

All in all a rousing song, strong lyrics, great backing music (although I also wonder if Jim would have produced it better - I'm not sure), and such powerful emotion - classic Meat / Jim .

10 out of 10!

One of my favourites (and I agree with the analogy made as to what is "up!!") I heard the JS version first so tend to prefer that. Great stuff.

How are you if you are "Surf's up"? Any englishman/woman here who can be kind enough and explain it to a dum swede
I'm not English either... but I'll translate it for you: "can't you see my faded Levis bursting apart..."
Got it?

back to topic: I LOOOOOVE this song!
It sounds like an "Objects In The Frying Pan" hybrid!
I wish I could hear it once live...

10/10 of course!

In Jim Steinmans own words.... Surfs Up is a "boner" song

I love the song, but Meat doesn't really do it justice on Bad Attitude, it lacks some of the passion and a touch of the innocence that is there on the Rory Dodd vocal on Bad For Good. It needs the real orchestrations rather than the synthed mid-80's sound.

All in all 7/10 for Meats version - could do better.

I thought I posted this earlier today, but apperently not.
Let's try again: the surf is up, and a part of him too. Do you get it now, or do we need to whip out (pun intended) the E-word? :)
