Paradise by the Dashboard Light:

It's All Coming Back to Me Now:

It's All Coming Back is pretty well done, in my opinion. But Paradise...oh wow.

Listened to Paradise this morning and I *really* liked it. For a Gleeified cover version it was pretty darn good, had the tempo and the boogey-woogie tune that gives the song it's fun feel, and although it's a cut down version they still kept it fairly true to the original I thought. They could have done much worse.

Paradise is exactly what I'd expect from Glee and All Coming Back is very good. I wonder how many Glee fans will discover Steinman for the first time?

I like both of them. I was fearing the worst, especially regarding Paradise, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I must say I am very impressed! It's All Coming Back To Me is fine although not massively different to Celine Dion's version, but I love Paradise! They've made it their own and had tonnes of fun with it.... Good stuff!

I was handling Paradise OK to the 2:02 mark.
It wasn't great, but I thought it could be worse.
Then the backing singers took over too much (they were louder than the singers) and the whole thing turned way too show tunie (and NOT in a good way).

When that happened I actually let out a couple of gasps of honest to god pain

All Coming Back was a pretty decent version.

I like the idea of Glee kids watching the show and discovering Meat and Jim, listening to their music, and then getting all messed up

I really appreciate the energy in the GLEE version. Much more exciting than the original to me. However, that said...I am the person who really likes all of the original Bat Out Of Hell songs now that they have been remade and given a life of their own much more than the originals.

IACBTMN is a really good take on Celine's version, but I have to say I didn't like paradise all that much. Decent effort though

So this episode was on tonight.

IACBTMN was first. Then Paradise. It was giggling fun. This was for the National competition between schools. The judges deliberated and one of the judges, Perez Hilton, said that Jim Steinman should not be allowed to write another song again. New Direction WINS! Go Paradise!!!

I'd be willing to bet money that Jim'd find this hilarious.

And no mention of Meat Loaf anywhere... There was "Celine Dion's 'It's all coming back to me now'" and then "Jim Steinman's 'Paradise by the dashboard light.'" I found that omission interesting... :/

I thought the exact same thing. The girl sounded good on IACBTMN, but her voice was all wrong for Paradise. I thought the guy singing lead did a decent job, but the dancing choir was just annoying. Makes me appreciate Meat & Patti's live performances all the more.

The writer is the one who should be associated with the song IMO. They should both be listed as Jim Steinman songs.

IACBTMN is not Celine Dions and Paradise is not ML's.

They both BELONG to Jim and both singers should feel privileged to be associated with them.

At times the chick with the big nose sounded just like Celine, but I didn't like the omitted verse and the background vocals.

Oh I agree that the writer should be mentioned. I didn't mean to say otherwise. I just thought it was kinda interesting that it was Celine Dion & Jim Steinman, not Celine Dion & Meat Loaf. *shrug*

On listening to Paradise I thought it was ok, harmless and a bit of fun.............

I've just watched it..................

If that is the only way to bring Meat & Jim's music to a new generation then don't bother, just leave it hidden away nicely and appreciated by those that want to, that performance was awful and an insult to the original.

I wouldn't call the Paradise performance an "insult" but it seems as if they didn't understand the song. The choreography didn't fit. They just danced and looked nice, but when it comes to performing, I think that no one is able to hold a candle to a particular fat, sweaty guy.

The singing on both songs was good but it failed to touch me emotionally.

I usually don't watch Glee, is it always like that?

I'm not a fan of Glee whatsoever. I was expecting they would make a complete mess of these songs. However, I'll admit I was wrong

I think they did a good job of Paradise, and Its All Coming Back left me pleasantly surprised x

I had seen these clips on YouTube, and imho I didn't like the way they did both songs Initially I was excited to here that Glee was going to do 2 of Meats songs, but when I watched each clip, I wasn't so excited

Lol, I suppose I just prefer the real thing Meat only doing his songs But hey,.....congrats to the cast on Glee for having a go :)
