Not necessarily. You know Nirvana's Kurt Cobain was an artist where his recordings weren't polished. Maybe Meat is going for a less than pollished affect with this song. Say if it is him interpreting a classic Dylan song. I haven't even heard Dylan's original..

If Meat does come out and say, this is a Handbasket track. This will be at least the second song I know he has covered Dylan on an album. So Meat covering a Bobby Dylan song wouldn't sound farfetched. Maybe Dylan could be on the album!

If Meat's team is flagging these down. I know some good people who will fight the good fight. And flag this too. Looking forward to February 2011.

Also,

from Dylan's wikipedia page on the album where this song originates, I found this a interesting quote...

The album features a particularly atmospheric sound, the work of producer (and past Dylan collaborator) Daniel Lanois, whose innovative work with carefully placed microphones and strategic mixing was detailed by Dylan in the first volume of his memoirs

Makes me think how special this record is being treated by team Meat Loaf. Makes me think of the sound engineer from HCTB.. Doug... Doug something lol McKean?
He had his own interesting drum recording techniques to record on 'Teddy Bear!'
I think John or Paul said they would put some on YouTube if he allowed. But it never happened. =\

I reading amidst the Wikipedia link on the Dylan album that Roomster posted on the first page of this thread. Very interesting to me, anyways. Truth is I haven't heard the provided links. Not the slightest interested, not right now anyway

One final dish and I'm out for a while :)

Don't like the sound of the girl's texting music video.. Sounds really lame. Especially in comparison of the great Meat/Jim ones from the past.

It's not simply persistence imo, or at least not necessarily the PBM of setting up another account and reposting something you have been ordered to remove.

It suggests Meat's complaint could have been about them using his picture and saying it was his new single. Now it clearly says it's a tribute to .. and in the disclaimer "Tribute to the rock legend Meat Loaf. This video has no connection with Red Pony Tours or affiliated in any manner."

If Meat's complaint (and the removal) was about it being misleading rather than a leak of something to which he holds copyright, the person holding the account presumably believes they have complied.

Why does the repeated mention of Wikipedia in this thread and the persistant reuploading to Youtube ring alarm bells?

I think we can almost take it for granted that this one will be taken down shortly too.

I call fake. Listen closely, the music is identical to this karaoke track. Sync them up:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMGS1WYDQvg

It doesn't sound entirely like Meat to me, and I strongly suspect this to be the work of a certain 'beloved' tribute act known for their YouTube presence...

Well it certainly is the same as that Karaoke track. The vocals sound like meat to me, and if not a very good impression. But i dont believe that the 'beloved' tribute act is capable of doing such an impression, simply because hes not that great, plus he called me a Wan*-er for no reason on a youtube video of mine. lol. Anyway....

Its a lovely song, if Meat is planning on doing it then id expect it to be bigger, as the music is the Adele karaoke version it would seem. Also id be worried that with todays listeners they wouldnt hear it as a Dylan cover. Of course people in the know would but I fear it would just be seen as Meat covering the artist who previously covered it. And as Adele is a young female Meat in many ways then id say its perhaps a no no.

But i dont mind the sound of the vocals, maybe a little too low to be meat, but hey, what do i know? Im just a guy who'll buy the album

peace out!

It sounds like someone trying too hard to sing 'in the style of Meat Loaf'. It sounds unnatural and I think it's very annoying. Also, I find that, by now, covers of 'To Make You Feel My Love' are as useless, unnecessary, and redundant as covers of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'.

Also, that YouTube removes content after receiving a copyright complaint says nothing about the validity of that claim.

I'm hoping it's a fake, and wish they would label it as such, more than "tribute." Kinda sleezy to take down & post again as another account. Of course, that's unfortunately the norm on YT.

If it really is Meat, then I would be on the warpath for something leaking before it's ready.

Edited to add: Yes, Evil One, I definitely hear alarm bells

This is fascinating. Where on earth did it come from?

It sounds like Meat going for a pre-1st take rehearsal. He has so many tones/vocal approaches/sounds to hit the notes but this is the first time I've heard him try them all in one track! (which makes me feel that he's trying to get a feel for the song. He's not a singer by admission.)

The backing track is terrible... but good enough to get a feel for the song. Which is what this might have been for.

Otherwise its a very very good impression.

Can't wait to see if Meat throws some light on this.

Yeah, I never thought that guy sounded even a bit like Meat Loaf. Maybe "Dead Ringer" era Meat, if he was really hoarse and drunk at the time.

But if this is a tribute act, he's far and away the best one I've ever heard. I still think it's the real Meat though. Some performers warm up in the studio to karoake tracks, with no intent to ever truly record them - maybe this one got out. That would explain why Meat sounds "off" at times, cuz he has to sing at a lower-than-comfortable pitch, to match the karoake.

And if he is covering this song, that's great. I always loved it.

This song doesn't really fit the Hell in a Handbasket theme. It sounds too karaoke. Meat has Patti for backup and the NLE musicians, so I know if he actually recorded the song, it would be phenomenal, not dull like this arrangement.

I can't even hear the backing vocal. It might be terrific if it was audible. The music is boring though.

Look at the YT profile of the person who uploaded the video, a 27-year-old from the United Kingdom. How would he/she get a HIAH recording of Meat in the studio?

I don't think it's Wario for one second, and am surprised if anyone is levelling that charge/(accusation/praise?) at him after his many years in the fan community. Besides which, why would he include his own name in the keywords and then deny it being him?

The facts are:
The music is from a karaoke track I posted earlier
The video states 'tribute'

That's a convincing enough argument for it being someone singing karaoke in ML style rather than Meat himself for me. Perhaps it was done in all innocence, perhaps a sneaky attempt to get praise for it actually being a Meat Loaf vocal (i.e. an impersonator trying to get the definitive proof of his success as an impersonator). An outside chance is it's a scratch vocal, but I personally don't think so. Besides my own feeling that it doesn't sound entirely like Meat, I doubt he would record this song at this stage given its recent exposure (or overexposure), and I doubt he demos to karaoke versions. Besides which, how many Meat Loaf demos have leaked over the years? Round about zero by my reckoning. Hopefully Meat can clear this up when he gets the chance.

I'm surprised at the ammount of is it/isn't it Meat speculation going on, considering this is a site for the superfans! XD I'm willing to go hands down that, yes, this is Meat Loaf. And I actually kind of like it as a demo - there's so much potential to Loaf it up.
