It seems that making alot of nasty comments gets you a reply from Meat himself !!
As much as I like you, Sapphire!
I do not agree, think this only proves Meat is 'a GREAT soul'!

Hi, Sapphire Lady! I like you, too, and enjoy your posts. Perhaps we are misreading what you meant here and if we are, I apologize. But, based on the words you wrote, I think I have to agree with what Mariella had to say.

Although a line from a James Taylor song comes quickly to mind, "...I think it's true what they say about the squeaky wheel always getting the grease...", Meat continues to show us his decency and his generosity by responding to someone who was way over the top in terms of rudeness and crudeness here.

Most of us who visit some of the other major message boards around are VERY familiar with Ryan and his tactics for getting attention. What he did here was a prime example of them and fairly typical.

What Meat did here, though, shows the heart and soul of the man--one who is capable of looking beyond insults and people's rudeness, and trying to reach, satisfy, please all his fans in whatever way that is possible.

(This is slightly off-topic, but not really...) Something else I've been thinking about lately, and this may be a good example of it, is just how frustrating it must be for ANYONE in the music industry today. So much is out of your control--the label which contracts with you and exactly HOW they are going to proceed to release the album and the singles (CHSIB single in the UK showed us all how that can go); record companies waiting to see how albums do elsewhere before deciding whether to pick up them up or not (wonder what companies in what country I'm talking about now??!! ); tying in and scheduling radio and TV promotions with the various releases, not to mention the accompanying concerts....then, there's the whole business with Kazaa and people downloading songs instead of purchasing them....

Talk about the ultimate frustration--especially when you know you've got a great product and all you really want to do is to get it out there and have it heard and have people enjoying it.....

This was the first promotion I've gone through with one of Meat's albums and it was utterly fascinating to watch it all unfold--both the good things that happened and the unfortunate ones. I've learned SO much these past few months--and a LOT of that because of all the wonderful input that was being carried on here at the forum!! Seeing how we fans, too, fit into the mix, how WE react to things and affect things, both in a positive and negative manner. It was truly an eye-opening experience for me--one I don't think I'll ever forget.

One of Ryan's earlier comments brought it all home to me, I think without meaning to. But he talked about how there were never these problems with BOOH. Well, that's not totally true, of course! Just reading Meat's book about all the problems associated with the selling and releasing of Bat is enough to drive anyone crazy. But that was 1977/78. And even with those problems, things were much simpler then. We've just seen how the record industry has changed today and what artists/performers have to go through now, in order to succeed--in order to do ANYTHING.

It makes Meat's achievements SO FAR with CHSIB even more phenomenal!! Over 500,000 copies sold and so many more countries to come...Problems or not, frustrations or not, I guess it shows that good product is good product, and proof enough that "Couldn't Have Said It Better" fits the bill!!

But this message from Meat shows, to me, anyway, that, no matter what the pressures are he is currently under {to get ready for the upcoming concerts, the new single releases coming and the video(s) for them, tying up things in his own life before starting out on this 16-month tour}, he still remains a concerned and caring artist, who obviously loves all his fans and wants us to continue to enjoy his performances, while understanding as much as we can, from his side of things.

It's been really incredible having Meat here during this particular time in his career! So very to happy to be a part of it with all of you good people!!

Love to everyone,
MB

We have been trying to get rid of that snot-nosed little brat
FOR AGES. Let me guess? The evil Steve again!
This man is the bane of existance. He denounces anyone who
Does something differently, or dares to speak out.
He knows not who I am, and neither do the rest of you.
If you knew ME - NOT the sad indulgent writings of my sub-conscious
Distraction - you would be my BEST friend...
But no, you DON'T know me! That is why you continue to elude
My happiness and embarrass me, and denounce me the title of
Steinfan Number 1. "Please don't associate this little shit with
Steinman" is the most gutteral, offensive thing I've ever heard.
That's like taking my life away. Steinman is apart of me,
You ~~~~BAG!!!!!! YOU DARE TO SAY HE'S NOT!!!!!
WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ME?!? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!
ABSOLUTELY ~~~~ING NOTHING!!!!! GOD DAMN YOU!!!!!
YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND A GOD-DAMN THING!!!!!

R from Admin:
Don't judge me through the whinings of my adolescent past.
Gaze into the future and you'll see the other side!

Fireball:
Meat, they are twisting the circumstances -
It's always happened to me, and it'll happen again.
I have nothing but the utmost respect for you,
It's just that a terrible moodswing had gripped me.

You have no idea what it's like to wait seven years-and change
And then to find "a new album" won't come out!
Apologies master. I continue to send offerings to your future,
And I commend you and Jim FOREVER.

Don't listen to them, Meat! They don't know me!!! (Thank God!)

That's exactly what I meant mariella. Alot of very nice things are said about Meat in this forum but when someone said some horrible things, Meat ignored that fact and replied to the post. :)

What I object to you saying is that you are Steinfan Number 1. There are probably lots of people who say that (or think it). Who is to say that you are any more correct than they are? I don't dispute that you're a hard core fan of Steinman, but no one can be sure that they are the `number one' fan of anything. It is a wiser person who says (or thinks) that they just don't know.

When you are rude and display inappropriate behaviour, this WEAKENS your arguments. You said earlier that you will not behave until people understand you or accept you (or whatever it was). That's not going to happen when you act in the way you have been.

Hi, friends!

Don't want to take this thread too much off-topic. (Sorry, R.)

Just wanted to say thank you. Your very kind words mean a LOT to me!!

Each of us here speak from the heart when we're talking/writing about Meat. And I think that's why the conversations sometimes get so heated--OVERheated!! The heart's thermometer doesn't have a regulator. It raises or lowers in a heartbeat!

But I guess it's important to remember that one can gain wisdom even from the most angry and unruly of discussions. So, we all learn what we can, and we move on from there.

Take care, everyone, and thank you again!!

Also very glad we are all in agreement, Sapphire Lady!!

Love,
MB
