Just now I discovered several videos that I added as a favourite to my Youtube account now got a few little red words added: video no longer available. Not only vids from you, Wario, but amongst them are also ones of Aputey....

Also I have to mention it includes vids of other artists, hence I think it ''only'' has something to do with the owners of the site.

aputey will return, probably. He was just hacked off with youtube for doing that to WL, he want to save the site for other stuff in future so took down the videos to avoid falling to the same fate as WL. He's left some vids up there and has put one or two others up that he's not posted before

The grammar is not that bad for a late at night post!

Warioloaf is right in his interpretation. I, long time lurker and aka 'aputey' (as in Arthur Pewty, that well known monty python typing error), was just a bit brassed off with youtube so I was contemplating drawing a line under my video sharing exploits and getting back to some real work. I took the vids off but they may well reappear (all fully backed up daveake!) in a different order with some new ones perhaps. I could repost some rare ones that warioloaf put up - he had a few that I didn't but I'd need his copyright permission for that!!!

Alternatively I may just go back to chartered accountancy, or lion taming

I don't care about grammar...I just really didn't get it but I understand now...

If I had to chose between lion taming and chartered accountancy (something that I do do)...I would choose lion taming...simply because you die fast and hopefully don't suffer as much...

Good boy!

I've been pretty anal about backups since an incident when transferring my 200+ albums to mp3. After each conversion I'd copy the mp3 to a second hard drive, so if one failed I'd have the other one. I was about 6 months into the process when I needed some spare hard drive space temporarily for something else. So I deleted the mp3s from one of my 2 hard drives. Within hours the other drive failed!

So these days, all my mp3s are on 2 drives at home, 2 more at my office, and another set on a portable drive used to update the office copies from the home copies. Same goes for videos, photos and anything else not easily replaceable. There are DVD backups too. So unless an earthquake goes through my home and office, or someone nukes both locations, I'm safe

I share Dave's obsession with back up but the real key that he (and I) have sussed is off site back up. A couple of friends have all my rare stuff also so I'm pretty convinced I have all bases covered.

Apple time machine takes a lot of the fuss out of regular back ups to cover things like disc failure

Funny - in the old days we never worried about things like offsite storage of photo negatives and duplicate copies of LPs. Life is simpler they say?

Talking

As SJP says in one episode of S&TC:

"It's me the girl that doesn't back up !!"

I have learn't my lesson now though at the time I didn't have my own computer and so it seemed logical to load them somewhere then delete them but as I now have my own computer I feel less at ease in keeping any data on here as I know I'm the only user and so can save whatever the hell I want to on it !!
