Well I've picked "Cry To Heaven"

I've linked two versions I did. One I recorded a couple of years back and one I did just this afternoon.

OLD VERSION - http://www.rosspomfret.com/media/mp3...-Meat-Loaf.mp3
NEWER VERSION - http://www.rosspomfret.com/files/Cry..._Meat_Loaf.mp3

I hope you can notice a difference and hopefully my vocals have improven since the earlier recording. Hope you like and enjoy.....

That's actually v good Ross, I like it and....I think I would say the new version is much improved on the older version, mostly in terms of tuning and the strength of your voice. Well done!

Thanks, actually thought you were right about the piano loudness. I've fixed it and added in some other stuff....

I think also some of it is the fact that I've got a great new mic and new recording equipment. Plus I'm gonna study Sound Production so I'm practising with my levels

Oh Andrew.... any chance you could please send me "Surfs Up"? What a great track.. and I really like your version

You know what is a bit strange...that most of the submissions are actually made worse in some way by instrumentals...your voice is actually stunning enough to carry it off a cappella or just guitar...just like Mike's voice is stunning a cappella...

I could probably have sung this better if I wasn't concentrating so hard on playing Surf's Up in E on the piano at the same time. I hate that key. But G is far too high. Rory must be from another planet imo.

I agree about Mike's version of Cry to Heaven. Don't think I commented on that one yet. It is very good, Mike! Probably the best a cappella version of a Steinman tune I have heard. He certainly pulls that off. I would not be so sure I could really.

However I think if all this stuff would end up on an album, I think just a cappella songs would be a bit boring really.

Just an idea Andrew,

Could you record the piano first then record the vocals after if that would make it easier?

I'm just so amazed on how to composite Steinman songs.... you seem to make them yours

I agree with this part...I think you're concentrating on playing and it competes with singing. Please don't take it as being so very critical...after all, I can't even sing at all...it's just the way I hear it and please don't be offended...if I didn't think it's good, I wouldn't have even commented...

Can you record piano and voice separately and then mix them?

Default new links

Okay, I don't understand why that was happening but I have now got some links which will force the songs to be downloaded via your browser and should work for everybody, so please try these instead.

I've improved on the vocal on surf's up, but just a little bit imo. I'm done with this song now. Lol.

Cheers.

For Crying Out Loud

I think a combination of various Meat Loaf album/single covers would look interesting

I'll be at the 'studio' on 13th, recording HCW and probably one or two from WTTN, which ones I'll decide spontanously.

Recorded the Wasted Youth / Love, Death & an American Guitar speech. No effects as I'm not in a Jeff Bova mood at moment.

Think Heath Ledger's potrayal of The Joker had a slight influence here.

Wasted Youth

If this ends up on a cd, I suggest not putting Ross' version of Cry to Heaven straight after it
