MB said to tukaway:
Since Flying Mouse doesn't seem to be here right now, and he's Law and Order for this forum, a couple days ago, he put a stop to posts dealing with the Meet and Greets, because it got to the point where it looked as though people were buying extra CDs JUST for the M&Gs. Most of us here are doing it because we love Meat. He's important to us for whatever reason that is and he doesn't ask a favor of us very often. It is a great pleasure and a privilege to be helping him in whatever way we are able.

(and went on quite some more ......)

I think Tukaway posed an entirely reasonabe question. This was offered and it's reasonable to ask how it works. It's OK to say most of us are doing this because we love Meat, but I don't think he would ask people, some of whom may not have much money, to go out and buy extra records without saying what he did. And frankly a Loafdom dollar says none will turn down a Meet and Greet, and a few may whine if one is not forthcoming.

So if people come on and ask, I think it's reasonable to say there's a long time to November, nothing is yet known but Meat is always good to his word when it's possible, but not to imply that people who entered into this based on what he said are somehow less of a fan because they ask what the procedure is, or that they should think that it's a privilege to perhaps spend more than they could afford when all they've done is sign on and answer a call to arms which was quite specific, and indeed repeated.

Whoever is "in charge", if a thread starts with a request and an offer, whoever asks about that having done what was asked should not imo be "shushed", but given the best answer available at the time. I doubt many people will be expecting Meat to be handing out used untraceables, but if anyone did need that, then I'm sure he is gentleman enough to oblige them.

Sorry, but I think we need to not get too carried away with a concept that all have bottomless pockets. For some this will have been a sacrifice, done willingly and with love, but done in the spirit in which they were asked.

ok now maybe someone needs to start a different thread for info...
Being devils advocate I can always agrue both sides of anything.
Yes an incentive was offered, maybe some one with relevant info could start a separate thread on this.
If Meat checks in he's gonna see what incredible work has been done by fans attempting to give some payback for years of enjoyment and pleasure.
Its not just cash thats being given up here its time and effort too I hope that no one does anything they cant afford to. There are different this that can be done not just buying, you've only gotta read back over he last few days. This has been a global help line...
Earlier in the thread JC was worried that he couldn't afford 5 singles but he posted loads of valuable info. I think everyone acknowledged this and thanked him.
I cannot envisage Meat making empty promises but at the moment he's gotta a lot on his plate. Arrangements have been made for the Holland fans and when he's figured it out he'll let the rest know.
If i could be bothered to page back i'd quote myself from earlier...summat like: happy to help, don't want my money back, anything else is a bonus, sure who's gonna turn down a M&G but I still think it should be a private party
I think Mouse didn't want this thread to loose its impetus by being bogged down in M&G which is probably why Meat started a separate one re. Holland.

All I said was that anyone who had responded to the initial request and asked about Meets was making a perfectly reasonable request. That has nothing to do with all the other effort that is now gojng into promoting the CD.

All I think they needed by way of a reply was four lines, not a long post about privileges and such.

And no I don't want a party which might be on a date I can't manage. I'm booked for concerts. That would do fine by me.

I agree Caryl!

Only the other day I was browsing through the forums and noticed Meats post about the Meet and Greets. I asked everyone if anything else had been said, as the prospect of meeting the big guy in person was really exciting for me!!

I couldn't believe it when my question was frowned upon by Law and Order!

I thought it was a reasonable question and I didn't think it made Meat's gesture "cheap". After all, it was Meat's idea and Meat's offer to us, so I think he would have expected his offer to spark excitement in his fans.

But there you have it.

Thanks :) .. And I agree the moment is past now .. that was an activity for last week, but those who met the call and ask should be given a bried but standard answer imo .. that nothing is known, November is a way off, Meat does his best to do what he promises, but that the time for that has gone as the CD is now pretty available. .. See .. I can get it into 3 lines

Caryl :)

Hi, Caryl and everyone! Sorry I'm late in responding. Been away from my computer.

Valid points, one and all, that you've made!!

Perhaps, since Flying Mouse considered this to be an off-topic subject the other day, this is something you all need to PM him with or maybe even R., the webmaster, and you can discuss your concerns with them. Both seem like very nice and reasonable people, who could respond to your comments.

The way I look at it is that this isn't my world. It's not of my creation, but someone else's. And it has certain rules and regulations set up for specific reasons.

If it were me and my world, I wouldn't mind discussing anything relating to Meat at any time!! I love to talk about him and his music and his films with anyone! It's one of my favorite passions, as everyone can tell!

So, maybe, if you have questions or problems with Flying Mouse's ruling the other day, or any of the other rules, then you need to talk with them about it--probably through a PM, since Flying Mouse, if he were here right now, would most likely tell us that WE'RE off-topic at the moment! (Can't you just hear him now!)

Great discussion, everyone. Keeps the blood boiling and the mind working--just what we need at this late hour!!

Back to my emailing. Talk with y'all later...

By the way, just a quick question...

Does anybody else prefer "Did I Say That?" to "Couldn't Have Said It Better"?

Not that I don't LOVE "Couldn't Have Said It Better" and I think that it was a good move to release CHSIB on single in the UK instead of DIST. As I think it holds more appeal to the modern music market. But I personally think it's the superior song.

What does everyone else think?

Interesting question.

I loved DIST the very first time I heard it. It actually gave me gooseflesh!!! And sometimes, still does, when I listen to it.

But I think--if it is the video, in part, which is helping to sell this first single in the UK, then CHSIB video is MUCH more powerful and attractive, shall we say, than the DIST video.

I love both songs, though. Hard to choose between them. Can't wait to hear what everyone else has to say.

Exactly :) I thought it was a reasonable question .....

Just as now I'm wondering if he'll be able to make the same offer to the fans, such as myself, who live in the United States and have also been very supportive. I won't be able to see him until he's somewhere on the East Coast (August / September perhaps) but I would just like the opportunity to congratulate him in person :)

OK.
I see that there has been some talk about my post while i've been away.
First of all,I would like to make it crystal clear that I am NOT a moderator of the CHSIB forum.Anything said by me on this particular forum is said as a FAN.Nothing more nothing less.
Right now,i've not long come in from work.It is late and I am tired.I will respond to the recent posts at a more apropiate time.In all probibility, this will not be tomorrow. As I have already posted on this topic I am working in the day and the night. However,I will be posting as soon as I am able, and will be more than happy to address anybodys problems and questions.
Sincerly

Yes. I LOVE both songs ... they're amazing and perfect in their own ways :) But if I have to make a choice (a very tough one I might add), it would be Did I Say That. It just seems more emotional, if you know what I mean.

Hi, Vicki!! How's it going? It IS a tough choice between those two songs. I've been thinking and thinking about it since Greavzyboy brought it up. And I'm still not sure which way I'd go.

You know, I haven't heard yet as to how CHSIB (the single--not the album) is doing in Germany this week, have you? It will be interesting to compare how CHSIB does its first week, with how DIST did in its premiere. If any of you finds out anything, please post it. I'd love to know.

Hi, Mouse! So sorry to add more to your already-busy life. I hope your singing and sharing CHSIB with the customers went well for you.

Thanks for checking in on us and taking the time to write, even though you're so tired!

The life of a newbie is never easy, is it?! I think the other day you just spoke so firmly--that plus the "Law and Order" under your avatar --made several of us, who are new here, believe in your authority. (That must come from all the years of doing Meat tributes. Never underestimate the power of Meat! )

Perhaps, when you are able to respond more fully, you'll explain to all of us newbies, exactly what the Law and Order means. I'm probably not the only one who's confused about it!!

Thanks, FM. Hope you and Carol have a wonderful Easter and don't work too hard--except while you're singing, of course. If you're singing some Meat songs, you've gotta work HARD!!! :P

Let me take this moment to wish all of you and your families a very Happy and Joyous Easter, if you celebrate the holiday.

Those who can spare the time on Sunday, come on by and continue the work on Meat's behalf. We'll be here for much of the day and look forward to seeing you then.

A big thank you to Jen who earlier in the day posted the times for the Official Chart Show, which is on Radio 1 from 4 to 7 UK time.

Certainly, since Meat's posting several days ago, "this is the moment we've been waiting for. " Let's hope for good news, for Meat's sake!!

And once again a reminder to those of you who might just be joining us for the first time. Although most stores will be closed on Easter, the online music shops are still open for business. If you'd like to order either a copy of the CHSIB single, with a bonus song not on the album AND the included video, OR you want to order the album, itself, which will be released on Monday, this is a good, reliable site: http://www.hmv.co.uk

Thanks, friends. Hope to see you all soon!!

Goodnight from California. Time for some much needed sleep here, too!!

Couple of points and then I'm off for the day.
My opinion on queries about Meat's offer was not directed at FM who I know is not a moderator, but at all/any who take the tack that such questions are in any way out of order. I think they are genuine and reasonable as was his request for help at the time.

It's right people should understand that it was a special thing for a couple of days and that now promoting the CD by requests to radio stations for playtime etc are what is needed. The original request was in despair at the non-availability of the CD in the shops, and was to counterbalance this. To continue would look like Meat had no faith in the ability of the CD to sell, and that neither was, nor is the case.

This will make a third .. I can count JCM .. I was referring to the lines of explanation not my post when I said 3 lines

Good luck all today

GOOOOOOOD Sunday morning, Meaty fans!!

And a very Happy Easter to those of you celebrating the holiday today! Hope your Easter eggs hunts were successful and fruitful. Do you do Egg Hunts in the UK? Or is that more an American tradition??

It's 12:30 California/8:30 in the UK. And this is the BIG day for us all--the day the UK Official Charts are released and I'm sure that will be the highlight of the day. We get to find out exactly how we've been doing these past few days, since Meat's urgent pleas for help!

Jen was kind enough to let us know yesterday that Radio 1 will broadcast the Charts from 4 to 7. An email I received overnight said 5 to 7, so it's sometime during that timeframe. Last night's email also indicated that the charts would be showing up at the same time on Radio 1's website, for those of you who may not be able to receive the audio feed for one reason or another.

So, I think it'll be a tense morning, as we await the news. But at least we'll be together here to continue the work on Meat's behalf and begin to work toward's NEXT week's charts.

If you read Meat's message from a couple days ago, he wrote that he was hoping, with all our help, to move CHSIB up the charts, so that he and the band could appear on Top of the Pops next week, which would certainly give another boost to, not only the single, but the album which is scheduled to be released TOMORROW!!!

So, he has set our next goal for us and we're off and running. If you can't stay with us today, but are only popping in to see what's happening, relax and have a good day with your families. Meat would certainly understand. Just join back up with us, when you can, as all your help is certainly still needed!

Since this is a holiday, stores are closed. But Radio and TV stations are not, so requests and talking about CHSIB to all of them you can get to, is certainly high on the list of to-do's. Meat, in his message, was very proud of the fact that, at the time, he was Number 1 on The Box. According to Greavzyboy here, all day yesterday, he was Number 3, with the video being played at least once an hour. I hope he'll keep us informed today as to how Meat is doing there. If you have digital TV, call up their Hotline, if you can, and help that along.

As you work, if you receive reactions, please come back and post them here. It's what keeps all of us going. It's also a great day to get the news about CHSIB out, as you're with your families and friends, who might not yet know about it. Some here have been playing the single loudly from their car radios, attracting attention of interested people in their towns. Some folks have been passing out printed materials to people on the street and getting new sales from them!!

It's a time for great creativity for everyone. Find a way (or ways) that will be good for you to help Meat and the new album.

Online stores are open, for those who wish to help out by actually purchasing the single and album. Amazon has FINALLY gotten its copies in and has begun sending out the album. The single is due to be received tomorrow, so I'm supposing they'll begin shipping those as soon as they can. The website, http://www.hmv.co.uk has been there for us from the beginning, continuing to renew stocks of the single, as they are sold....

So, there is lot to be done. And everyone's work in this is just as important as the next person's. Let us know what you're doing, when you can, throughout the day.

I'm off to begin my emailing for the day. Looking forward to being here with all of you, dear friends, as our countdown begins toward the Chart Release later this morning.

Talk with you later...

Quick question everybody, just curious!

How come the single "CHSIB" on the HMV website and in all the adverts I've seen in the papers shows the cover with a red background and just the legs of the blonde girl, with the words "Couldn't Have Said It Better" across the cover?

My single is identical to the album cover but in red.

Does anybody even know what I'm going on about?!
