In a way I'm strangely looking forward to this...on paper I don't think the idea works at all and it's not the kind of thing I'd ever buy, so I'm quite looking forward to seeing what on earth it is that Mr Loaf has up his long red coat sleeve!

Did you mean Silent Night or O Holy Night? The second being one of my favourite Christmas songs ever, which Patti would do a phenominal job of!

"oh Holy Night" is the gold standard of Christmas songs for great vocalists. Thus far I think John Berry did the best version I have heard, but I'd love to hear what Meat could do with. I think around 1987 especially Meat would have been amazing on that song, maybe he can be today as well.

Silent night, holy night. All is calm, all is bright. I can hear it thunderous in a way when she work wit TSO "Beethoven's Last Christmas" something to that effect.

Maybe Paul O'Neill could produce something for the album?

That would be enchanting in a sense that Back Into Hell and Prize Fighter and Elvis In Vegas are/is. And one of the things I associate with Christmas is sleepy eyes and christmas lights!

Thumbs up

I'm very much looking forward to owning a Christmas album Meat's recorded. I hope there's some traditional songs on it. I think O Holy Night would be an excellent choice. It's a fave of mine. I have a cd of the radio show Meat and the band did at a children's hospital, I believe it was, where Christmas songs were sung. The sound isn't real clear on it and it will be terrific to have a nice studio album of Meat singing Christmas tunes. It will go right in rote next December with my Garth Brooks Christmas cds. I think it's nice to have albums of your faves singing traditional Christmas songs. Yes... something really wonderful for me to which to look forward !!! ... ...

Either one would be awesome to hear by Patti.
I'm guessing the album will have some classics and some untraditional holiday songs too.

I would like Steinman to write a x-mas song for this album. Imagine Steinman writing for a holiday album.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn the song Cry To Heaven sung by Meat was a Steinman song... It's a gentle, lovely piece... I could see a Steinmen penned song on a holiday album if done in similar style ...

Are you kidding me no! I am talking about Hot Holidays, a night cold winter night of passion and the kind of pleasure that you get from burning from the waist up!

Not that gentle soothe stuff its gotta get you hot and heavy to keep that california wind chill away.

Take you out of the frying pan and into the fireeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The lyrics of Steinman's Speaking in Tongues (nothing on YouTube, it seems) are quite Christmassy:

Quote:
It's the time to start a fire
And I know we'll make it good
We're overflowing with desire
You got the spark — I got wood

Now the mighty oak's a christmas tree
Ornaments and balls are so well hung
It's time that we start speaking in tongues
Speaking in tongues
