Default Sending to Australian press

See if they will print it !!

>" I would like to extend my sincere apologies to Andrew Demetriou, the AFL, all of the AFL players, the AFL fans, and anyone else I may have offended with my latest interview in Perth. In this 30+ minute interview we discussed numerous topics aside from the AFL such as the concerts within Australia and the related positive reviews from the fans, as well as the wonderful response we have been receiving for the new CD titled "Hell In A Handbasket" recently released in Australia. Unfortunately, the edited interview only focused on the AFL and some key statements. We all say things in the heat of the moment that we later regret and this was one of those moments for me. Yes, there were technical difficulties at the Grand Final pre-game performance which were extremely inopportune, and I didn't come off in the best light, however, the ill-response was extreme. I am a passionate person who leaves everything on stage, and my many fans world-wide know this for fact, but it was this same passion that brought me to lash out when I shouldn't have during the interview. Last, I also want to apologize to my fans. Their unrelenting support in Australia has been strong and hasn't gone unrecognized. "
Sincerely,
Meat Loaf.

Your apology is well written and sincere. I hope they do publish it.

It takes a big man to stand up and apologise for his wrongdoings, you have my endless respect sir.

Headline should be: "Class Act Issues Sincere Apology"

Class act is right. God bless you, Meat.

It's very good but it's sad that you feel the need to apologise for an interview that was taken out of context. It's very good and I hope they print it, because although your comments were not directed at all of the people at the AFL, that's the way the bullies and the press have played it. I can't think of anything more you could say, I actually think you've been quite restrained there, so well done.

I don't believe most will !! They were out to get me from the moment I walked into the country because they put an American act at the AFL final. Then they Quoted money I was paid , which was not true and I think that really pissed people off. All in all the press had put a bullet in my head before I got there.

That's true, I was thinking more in terms of "Oh Meat Loaf's got something to say about it..."

But when you put it like that, very true..... do you mind if we copy this post it on our Facebook pages?

Why not release it yourself on your facebook page, meatloaf.net and perhaps even a quick video of you making the statement released on twitter?

Sadly, you are probably correct. They won't want to take back what they have said now.

I think you hit the nail on the head there but you are doing the right thing in writing to the press and apologising. If they don't publish it, it'll just go to prove that you ARE the better person.

You do not need to apologise to us, we're here, to give you the support you need, when you need it.

Plus the press exist to make money by courting controversy and if they did the "right thing" then they would go out of business because society thrives on malicious, underhand nastiness and bad news.

Beautifully put Meat, I hope they print it. No need to apologise to us fans, we're with you to the end. You are a passionate man, that's what we all love about you. It shows in you music and your shows.

Meat, you're right on all counts, and as you say later ..let's see what they print. But what you've sent is beautifully expressed, sincere and gracious, and also well crafted in that it's hard to imagine how they could use it to put you in a bad light. As others have said you have no need to apologise, but that you have speaks volumes about you

It strikes me that there are broadly 3 groups of people in Australia.

The small group who followed the press lead and jumped on the wagon, who are worth nothing.

A vast number who aren't "fans" although may have heard of your name, BOOH etc, but don't really follow what you do, and who are probably barely aware of what's been happening, and most of whom would be appalled if they knew.

Hundreds of thousands who were the people you went there to see, most of whom have bought HIAH, many of whom went to shows and were delighted, and all of whom know you, value you, and will also be appalled by the treatment you've received. You have no need to apologise to them, but they will as always be impressed by your honesty, stature and decency. (Which also happen to be qualities the first group wouldn't recognise if it bit them on the ass!)

Ride on Cowboy

Good clear statement Meat, they won't be able to spin that one no matter how they try. As you said, whether or not they choose to print it is a different matter. Hope cool heads prevail.

Meat, you once said at your show, never argue with someome who buys ink by the barrol! So don't let net off these low life critics and people get to you! In my opinion you've had the your best few years since arrive in OZ, listen to hang cool teddy bear and hell in a handbasket, 2 off the best albums out there at the minute...you haven't had one bad review since going to OZ! So keep strong, get some rest, and get ready for 2012 and the UK in 2013! I can put money on that tour will sell out with you playing Bat 1 in the second half off your set!

Peace
Rick

Yes I think you have hit the nail on the head there! Still absolutely no excuse for what followed! The press will do anything for a story! They make me sick!
