Ohhh The Lost Symbol...biggest let down ever. Spent weeks and months looking forward to that coming out, we even ordered two copies so Andy and I didn't have to wait for the first person to finish reading it...what a waste of hours! I adore Dan Brown books but this was hideous, there was one "twist" that I didn't see coming but bar that it was a total let down. It'll probably be a good film as it'll be more direct, we both had the feeling that it was like reading something that'd been written for film and then padded out to make it long enough to be a good book. Total let down!

I've got The Lost Symbol to read next, after I've finished reading ...And Another Thing, which is the controversial new Hitchhiker's Guide novel, that wasn't written by the creator... Can't seem to shake this feeling of déjà vu lol

I'm still reading Angels & Demons by Dan Brown. I watched a good film on tv last night rather than read, so I'm still slow as a snail making my way through the book. I am still enjoying the adventure though ...

Just finished Awkward Situations For Men, by Danny Wallace, the bloke who wrote Yes Man - that books still makes me laugh out loud and is highly recommended!
Next to read is Alison Weir's The Lady In The Tower, about Anne Boleyn. |

I'm still reading Angels & Demons by Dan Brown and still enjoying it. Maybe I'll sneak away to a corner in the basement and finish it this weekend ...

Finally finished The Lost Symbol...f*ck me what a drag. It started off really well but it's about 200 pages too long. Dan Brown spoiled the plot by over-explaining shit that had absolutely sod all to do with anything relevent. Reminded me of when I was at school and was given a 1000 word essay but I could only manage 800, so I filled it out by throwing any old shit in there. As Lucy mentions, it'll probably be a good film.

The Fry Chronicles... Managed to find a signed copy in Heffers in Cambridge on Wednesday to add to my collection of signed-by-the-author books.... Unfortunately I didn't get it done personally by Sir Stephen of Frydom....

I'm still reading Blow Fly by Patricia Cornwell and being re-introduced to characters I'd forgotten about from other Cornwell's other books featuring Kate Scarpetta. I'm enjoying it immensely.

I've just finished two books :
1984 by George Orwell - truly amazing. one of the few books i've read that has kept me hooked throughout and also made me think about its themes and the ideas it gives. Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut - this books definitely different. . though in a good sense I've got a keen interest in history & am sitting an Advanced Higher course as well this year at school, so have started reading 'Battle Cry of Freedom - The American Civil War' by James M. McPherson - very good read so far, although the small print and 880 or so pages make it slightly daunting to me |
