There's a cost factor involved, who's going to pay for it? and are people willing to pay upfront first?

LMAO, I've been to a few of those parties. If it was a Meat Loaf party though then there'd only be butties...fish finger butties

I may have missed it but I haven't seen any mention of liner notes and contributions for that?!?!?!

you bring the fish finger butties and...surely if the compilation is going to be made as a CD rather than a DL then you just pay whatever the cost is of putting it on a CD...though surely putting it online is easier then those of us who have 8 million music files on an external hard drive or iTunes or whatever can continue doing so and those that like disks can burn it to a disk and print the cover too if they so desire...or for the cost of a cd, a little bit of ink, and postage, someone else can do it for them.

On Rockman one guy basically did all of it, put the songs to disc and got liner notes professionally printed which made the whole thing look very good and paid most of the cost himself, then shipped out the CD's for free. I don't think that is what will happen here, but there is an initial cost to the project if it is indeed going to be put to CD only. If the songs are going to be put online then who's website or is there going to be a special one created? and who pays for the running of it?

I think Wacko needs to outline his plans a bit better.

Those little booklets you get in cd cases with writing too small to be resolved by the human eye. I miss lps for that reason. I could read what it said on their covers!

Alright...how about we take a step back and take a deep breath...after reading this thread I didn't feel like even thinking about anything...not that I can sing...but I did have an idea or two just for this...

How about whoever wanted to do something artistically...anything...1 song, 5 songs, duet, quartet...whatever...actually goes ahead and does it...and has fun while doing it...if it never happens - at least you had fun!!!

Let's see...if you want this done by Christmas...not sure how things work but deadline should be sometime in October?

Whoever is knowledgeable about this, please set the right deadline.

As you have your songs ready, just post here that you're ready...sort of a roll call...if we have even a few people that post "ready"...then we go ahead and decide how to proceed with listening to them, etc.

I am all for multiple versions of the same songs and uploading them online to see what people think...don't mind any input and/or criticism...it is not to sell millions of albums...it's just to pay a tribute to your favorite artist and/or songwriter...

I'm with Zina....those that want to be involved go ahead and do....hoping to things by October....and we'll re-gather to see what people have...but with updates and help and suggestions here if needed...make sense?

I guess it would work if you have a microphone and use the Sound Recorder function?

If I ever get to this, I am relying on somebody's help too...but as soon as I know more -unless somebody actually posts something usable - I will post what I know...

I'm more worried about a backing track than how to record it per se... :S

Maybe Sean plays piano himself...then we can all call him and record backup on the phone...or maybe Andy on guitar...or other various talents we have here...

I cannot tell a lie it was me...but i won't play the spoons indoors again

Ok so back to this again, i think everyone put their versions together, throw them up here or what have you, we all have a poll, vote for 2 discs worth of songs and take it from there.

So with that in mind, everyone should record as many different songs as they want? Sound like a plan?

Just a wild stab in the dark here...but...those that don't have a microphone or a sound recorder function are probably going to find it extremely difficult to record anything and therefor unable to contribute. I could be wrong.

Well, you can always sing into a hairbrush...especially if (as we all know for a fact) you're working on your most favorite song - COM!!!

I was thinking of doing a medley of my most favourite Bat songs Lemon, Break It and COM and call it Crying Over A Broken Lemon
