Default The live Recording of what you see a

Another live recording question I have is the LATW version of What you see is what you get (I have asked about the Masculine recording in another thread). Is that patty, a reunion with singer Stoney, a pre - Bat 2 Tour thing, or just a sound check? That along with Hot Patootie arn't on any 90's Sets I have seen either ...

It won't surprise me if it wasa sound check because the Crowd of fans would've been more enthusiastic. I mean how would you react if Meat sang this live at a concert you went to??? There would've been more cheering then there was. It world be like Meat singing Surf's Up at RAH ..... I would bet whoever was there would've praised Heaven or something. The backing crowd noise should've been more eccentric if ya know what I mean.

No.

He sang it woith Patti on tour in 1996 and you can find the recording on his Live Around The World album. It's a fantastic version.

Yeah it is on the LATW version but he has since claimed that For Crying out loud was a soundcheck, not unreasonable to think this is the same

The insert gives the name of each band member and their role, and then the names of additional musicians and the songs they featured on, so given there's no mention of any other female vocalist I'd say it's Patti

It's a complilation of live performances 1977-1996 - so I guess it's anybody's guess who it is? Patti seems to be listed everywhere...I always assumed it is Patti but I guess it's not spelled out anywhere, eh?

It says '77-'96 but lets face it, there's obviously nothing there from Meat's early years!

Hot Patootie is from Tallahassee, Florida, '90. Like I said earlier, I'm pretty sure WYSIWYG is from '87.

The live version of WYSIWYG was also a B-Side, along with Out Of The Frying Pan on the Digi-pack single of Is Nothing Sacred, and both are the LATW versions.

The credits on the liner notes of the single says that it's copyright 1995 so it must be Patti singing with Meat on it.

I know this is an old thread, but that is definitely Patti's voice singing "What You See Is What You Get" on the LATW cd. No idea about when and where it was recorded though, but I got the chance to see Meat and Patti sing it live in New York at a Storytellers show and it sounded even more incredible. Wish they would perform it again this summer.

It was recorded in Cleveland, Ohio. As for the date? Sometime in 1995.
