Try singing your favourite song and see if if parts of it are just forgotten or mixed up, never as easy as it seems.

Believe me there are times, when I'm even trying to practice a song that I've sung 20 times in a day and I can still get a word or two wrong.

As for X Factor supposed to have all these lyrics at there fingertips consider this:

1) They have so many people to see

2) They are never going to stop someone and say "wait you mixed up the first and last verse" etc

3) It's cheap TV and they want a reaction good or bad from the people performing.

Got to admit I'm with Pud and Anji on this, we're all avid Meat fans and would more than likely not really like any cover of AFL.

The song is written as a duet, Rhydian performed it solo and made a valiant attempt at it, it was the perfect style of song for him to sing on X Factor on Saturday. He's not had long with the vocal coaches yet, so it'll be interesting to see how hois voice develops over the coming shows and what other songs they give him to sing, if it's movie songs next week, then I just hope they move away from the obvious for him ...

I'd rather see people attempting Meat's/Steinman's songs than nothing or even rather than the same washed out Bryan Adams/Whitney Housten stuff you hear over and over again on X Factor. I get this feeling here that people don't like if someone does a Meat Loaf cover, no matter how good/bad it is. Also if someone does a cover then the words need to be 100% correct, the emotion needs to be 100% and he/she needs to look like Meat Loaf. I think that is ridiculous, just because we are fans of Meat's music doesn't mean to say we can dictate who can do what. The General public really don't care that much I think. Even Steinman himself lets other people sing his old songs. I mean it's just a song, it's not as if Rhydian is on tour with the Neverland Express and trying to make everyone forget about Meat Loaf. Jeez.

Absolutely agree Andrew. I don't understand why people are so negative when people cover songs that Meat has sung. And like you I'd like to see more Steinman stuff on these shows and less of the old boring crap that they usually go for.

The Rhydian guy comes across as a jerk but there's no doubting he did a pretty good job of AFL. I didn't see the whole show but IMO only he and Nikki hit the ground running - the others had very nervous and rather poor starts.

I agree with you Andrew.

The majority of people who audition for the likes of X Factor are only in it for glorified karaoke.

It's very tough to sing a Meat Loaf song that modern audiences will have heard and the majority of said songs will be very long. Which is why it will always be easier for the whitney and Mariah wannabes that can hit the high notes buffet as many times as possible in the space of 3 minutes, because the majority of the time that's what they are looking for.

Well I'm just curious to know whether the word change was deliberate or a mistake. Have got an acknowledgment e-mail from the X-factor but no actual reply to the question as yet. I think Rhydian has a very good voice that suits the big dramatic type songs and I'm looking forward to hearing what he sings next week.

As a Meat Loaf fan I thought it was bloody awful...I find it odd to hear someone else singing his lyrics anyway and this guy did nothing to change my opinion.

As a music fan I thought it was bloody awful. AFL was the perfect choice for him as I can't think of anyone but Steinman who has that mix of rock and opera and that's what Rhydian needs, but regardless of his voice or the song, his whole performance was (for me anyway) ruined by the arrogance that oozes from him. I couldn't care less what he sings, the attitude annoys the hell out of me.

And for the record I loved G4!

Personally I thought it was pretty awesome. Each to their own of course. Clip below:

Never seen the program at all myself, I just feel that if someone has true talent they will either be spotted while out working to persue their choice or they will make it happen theirself by sheer hard work. Lets be honest if this program is anything like any of the others out there 99.9% of the people on it could not sing for toffee and the majority of the program is judges taking pops at them in order to fill in some time on a TV schedule.

If someone has a real talent they will always find a way without having to stoop to being ridiculed by Simon Cowell et al to achieve it wont they.

Finally as far as other people murdering Meat & Jim's songs please carry on, It gives the rest of the world a chance to appreciate just how good Meat is doesnt it!

I couldn't disagree more.

Leona Lewis perhaps?

I disagree too. Just because the program is shit it doesn't mean the talent isn't real. I don't really watch the show and I don't know who Rhydian is but i do know that thousands of people applied for the x-factor this year and I think it takes sheer guts and determination in order to come out on top. After watching that clip I think it's bollocks that people with real talent don't go on reality tv programs because, as far as I'm concerned, Rhydians voice was shit-hot.

Are you telling me this program has been on since october and has just finished now?! Talk about too much of a bad thing.
Listening to clip now, he just seems to be trying too hard, and like was previously mentioned, too much enunciating. Never heard this guy sing before, don't give a damn about any of these shows, but at least I suppose he brought Meat to the masses.

Another thing: I wish they would ban females from entering studios like this, all they do is scream at nothing. It's like 'Ooh, he's walking! aaaaah!' as if they've never seen someone walk before.

that's a lovely idealistic sentiment but unfortunately in this day and age isn't reality....i have seen and closed for many talented acts who just can't find a way in for various reasons...it isn't as simple as if you have talent you will succeed....there are many politics in the music game now. It sucks but unfortunatly is true.
