Oh my god ... it's really horrible how Meat's voice lost his power. For me it's a very sad moment to realize that fact.

why not, just wait for the dvd, have a listen, maybe several times (in 5.1 surround perhaps) and then, make an informed opinion on the performance.. just a thought

I'm making an informed opinion on the audio that was aired. What's wrong with that?

absolutely nothing, thats your informed opinion on what you heard broadcast, which may sound quite different to what the dvd will sound like, or indeed sound exactly the same. we wont know untill we hear the dvd. all im saying is, this isn't the best way to judge the dvd, when we have yet to hear it. (bit like trying to judge a (good) cd on a shitty cheap yellow pack cd player, its not necesarily a good representation of the cd/dvd is kinda what i'm trying to say)

Sorry but, how is saying 'I hope the video is better because sad to say the audio isn't much' "Judging" the DVD......? The only thing being judged there is the quality of the audio. If you actually read what he said!! I haven't heard the audio yet but it just struck me as a little 'hillbilly' to write what you just wrote.

I agree that the audio isn't a full reflection of the dv, but with that said this show was broadcast to a reasonably big audience in germany and was not just some bootleg that has come up on the internet.

If it was meant to provide a platform for the European tour then I'm not sure it did the job, but then i'm only coming to this conclusion having only heard Blind As a Bat.

I liked the MSO dvd and didn't realise that parts of it had been overdubbed, but i guess it's not a surprise. It seems to me they could've done the same thing for this dvd but hey maybe they will.

What i could tell in Blind as a bat was that parts of Meat's original vocal, during the chorus, were in the background. Again it's something that happens a lot, listen to any live version of Living on a Prayer in more recent times and you will the same thing with Jon Bon Jovi.

i just cannot understand people who want meats voice overdubbed on LIVE dvds. People, lemme tell ya something: if you want that, just watch the original videos of the songs, dont watch a damn live dvd! Yes Meat like most of the artists when you see them live sometimes misses a note or two, and due to extensive touring his voice has changed, but that guy still has breath to let those words out and boy can he put on a a great show (but never as good as the one I saw in 1994, in my opinion).
So, people, respect the man, and respect the fact that Meat wanted an honest dvd with no overdubbs, what's wrong with you people! Just listen to the cds if you want clean sound with a pavarotti voice! Live is live people. And Meat, if you are reading this, you still kick ass and thanx a LOT for being HONEST with that dvd.

I think Meat sounds pretty good on this live show except for IACBTMN. He can't properly control his voice at the start and at the end of the song, while the middle is not bad. Other than that there is hardly anything to fault in my opinion. Bat stood out quite a bit (band sounds fantastic with super drumming at the start). Probably the best live version I've heard since MSO.
This I think came quite close to how things sounded at RAH, though I still would have preferred a release from that show. Overall I think the production sounds great and can't see why people would think Meat has lost his voice based on this. If you compare this to the Ken Bruce show from last year I think this is a gazillion times better.

Based on this show, recorded early on in the tour, I can't either. Based on the two shows I saw in June, I can.

I think this summons it up pretty well, and yes especially compared to Ken Bruce. I think he sounds a lot better in this release than a lot of the MSO, especially R&R Dreams, which I thought was woeful on MSO, this one is performed far better. Anything for Love was far better too than MSO and the World Tour 2003 Bonus CD that came with CHSIB.

I think this is as good a live recording we'll get from Meat now without overdubbing. It's certainly far better than the 2003 official tour recordings, especially the production too, think it was Kasim that produced them, everything about them was bad i thought. Looking forward to this release.

a funny side note:
The presenter talked a lot about Meat being in Cologne last june, and as being so successful, returning to our state, to Dortmund in October, BUT she didnt say one word about the DVD. lol

Some of the stuff I heard of Meat from June was the worst singing I've ever heard him do
I hope he will sound like he did on this recording in October / November as I am thinking the European touring days are drawing to close.

Well i can honestly say that i would not base my opinion on an audio radio version of the upcoming DVD.(i have heard the radio version)
I will wait to see the DVD,then decide what its like, see being the operative word for me.

As for seeing Meat, in May every show for me was awesome, and i did not see much wrong with Meats performance,he missed a few notes,so what.

I have listened to anything and rock'n' roll dreams yet and it isnt that bad!
IMHO it isn't that bad how some saying here. I have already listen to worse performances of the big man. I have no problems with small overdubbing, but the german download release of IACBTM was too much overdubbed.
I prefer the MSO much more than the storytellers dvd and I never had the feeling that the MSO was overdubbed

I thought they were all excellent recordings, except maybe Blind As A Bat where you could hardly hear what was being sung at times - it was loud, but sounded slurred. That may be just because it was streamed and mp3d though, so best to wait to see what the final release is like.

I guess the thing is, a smallish band will never be quite the same as the MSO, but Meat sounds terrific, so hopefully it will be one helluva show!
