Why does everybody always tend to forget that "you can't demo Bat Out Of Hell"?
So unless that statement isn't exactly true (which it can't be, because Meat wouldn't lie, now would he?), one must assume that there are no demos, and that that 27 minute version of Paradise doesn't exist either.

Yeah I've never for one second thought that the "27 minute version of Paradise" actually exists.

And if it did it would be terrible. 27 minutes of WHAT exactly??

I'm just glad Meat's talking about this project again to keep my hopes up for new Jim / Meat material. I was beginning to think it was looking like it wouldn't actually be happening.

I would think that this would just be a Meat & Jim box set covering all three albums and hopefully the odds and sods on the others but I totally agree that sooner or later there needs to be a complete set of all demos from all the albums.

A complete set would save us scouring all over the place trying to find them lol

27 min version of Paradise may exist, before Bat Out Of Hell came out they made the song longer. When Todd came on board for the recording of Bat 1 and heard it, he shortened the song to 8 min something... cause the longer version was more like a musical than a rock song

all in all there must be a version (of every booh song) which Todd could cut, so there MUST be the 27min paradise.
I believe the you-can-demo-a-booh-song statement was meant that you cant take a short bit to play it to someone so he understands the whole song. You have to listen to the whole song or nothing, a 2 or 3 minute demo doesnt work.

So lets say that wont be the demos, lets say it will be the pre-todding-versions

I would love to see a DVD of all the videos, practically all we see on TV nowadays is Anything For Love and more recently All Coming Back To Me Now. I hope that this box set features some special preproduction songs like the talked about 27 minute version of Paradise and possibly some songs that were slated to be on the albums that never made the final cut.

But didn't Meat say that before Todd produced Bat Out Of Hell they had recorded a 27 minute version of Paradise, which was the original and then Todd went along and cut bits out of it to bring it down to a more respectable size. I might have got a little confused on parts though

Yeah, probably.

He also said that Bat was written for the movie Psycho, that IACBTMN was always meant to be a duet and be on bat 3 and was only given to Celine via a "smart aleck" publisher, despite jim clearly taking legal action against Meat to stop him from releasing it in 95 in order for celine to do so, that he and Desmond translated the lyrics of Seize the night from german despite Jim having originally written them in English and them being the ones they used. ETC.

A good story told to entertain and move stock is just that.

HAHAHA. I love your logic. Well obviously it was longer than 8 minutes before Todd arranged it, so it MUST have been 27 minutes!!

At any rate, enough of that. we all agree that some sort of box set with cool stuff is no bad thing :).

If you wanna take it that way, would you be happy if I say that there must have been a pre-toddig-version, no matter of length, which is different to the version we know?

btw, I dont see any cause why Meat should tell the 27 min paradise story if it wasnt true, Jim is known for writing songs of a unbelievable length, and differently to the other "stories", this is a main fact of the producing process of Bat out of Hell, if there wasnt such a 27min version then there would have been no reason for labels to dont publish the album, but THESE SONG LENGTHS are one very important cause of that.
Sure, it can be 15 min or 23 or even 34, but that doesnt change the facts!!

Yeah, 'cause everything Meat tells is true. It's a fact.

And if Meat only tells the "27 minute paradise" story because it's true, there should be no reason to doubt the "you can't demo Bat out of Hell" story, right?

Anyway, saying that Paradise was 27 minutes before it was recorded, does not necessarily mean that there is a recording of that earlier version.
I mean, if there was a demo, why would they perform live for every record executive?

There has to be such a version cause they needed material which Todd could cut down to what it is now.
Or do you think they sang it live to Todd and Todd told them how to sing it differently and they did?
And THIS VERSION doesnt necessarily have to be a demo as they would call it. THEIR demo would be a shortened version of the song which includes everthing that makes to what it is, and THAT ISNT possible cause the structure is too complicated and there isnt one important hook that caracterizes the song.

PS: If you read my previous post again, youŽll see that I mentioned REASONS why this story should be true! IŽm too lazy to post the whole stuff again.
IŽm definitely not one of these people who think everything that Meat Loaf says must be true because heŽs Meat Loaf.
Read it again and youŽll see that.
