Meat Loaf - "The Experience"

In the midst of all the negativity flying around at the moment, I couldn't keep silent for long.

For me, at ten years of age, making my way with my parents to my first Meat gig at the SECC on a very wet April night, I remember every little thing, as if it were only yesterday!

The spectacle, the buildup, the knowledge that something epic was about to unfold before my very eyes, I had goosebumps all over my body. We still had some 45 minutes before showtime.

When the lights came on, and Meat and the NLE made their way on stage, I was buzzing. With each song, came a new story, a new drama, a new dream world, that I disappeared in. I stood in awe of Meat, commanding the stage, belting out these huge numbers, I couldnt move, I was literally frozen to the spot, in complete and utter amazement at what was being created on stage.
It was out of this world, and whats more, I loved every second of it!!!

Now, some 15 years later and similar number of shows later, that feeling of being lost in the fantasy world, created by Meat still gets me at every gig.
The songs change, the band members change, but there is a magic that is created when Meat and his band arrive on stage.

When a Meat gig is announced, I am there, for in this world of fantasy, of pure unadulterated esctasy, I belong there, I want to be there, and the only place on earth this can be found, is when Meat takes to the stage.

Nothing on this earth can compare!!!!!!

Meat, words cannot properly express my feelings, and I can only say, pure and simply,, thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a great post, awesome to read, and you describe it really well how I feel when I'm at a Meat concert. Can't wait to have that experience again in 2012 when he comes back here!

Really great post...loved to read it...
I am one of the few in here that havent been on a Meat Show.
And from what I`v been told and from what I`v read and watched in clips, this Meat Shows is just amazing.
And there is one thing in my life I am going to experient, and that is this show!
And since there is a bigger chance that Meat comes to the UK, than to little Norway..I guess I`ll have to travel. And hopefully I`ll have the chance in 2012

Thanks Foreverinbat, puts it all in perspective to what it's all about --giving to the fans and the fans experiencing a moment in time that ml provides us so well.

What a great post! You described exactly the feelings I had on my first Meat Loaf concert! And with every concert it's like a first time - again! Not many artist around who give you this *WOW*-effect like Meat Loaf does with his shows.

I have to agree with this. Unlike some other artists, Meat Loaf has managed not to let his shows appear like routine and you rarely get the feeling that everything is planned. He regularly makes changes to the performance/set, not all of them may work out but you can watch several shows in a row and they won't be the same.
