I think the name of the project needs to be something closely relating to a song title or something that the majority would know.

A pun from a line from Is Nothing Sacred wouldn't be that.

Think that's what needs to be sorted before anything else.

Who is willing and able to record something for this project?

For instance, who has backing tracks and recording equipment and would be willing to contribute to this CD?

If not enough people are able to contribute, the thing sinks before it even leaves port.

Well, I guess those who are talented enough to actually play musical instruments can get away without backing tracks...so don't get discouraged...

Also, not sure about the whole recording equipment...the right software and a mic should somehow work...

(Note to self: buy keyboards, learn quickly to play them, try to figure out ML music and...ummm...learn to sing)...

As I said previously, I have serious doubts that a CD is ever going to come about, but the good folks over on TheNakedWire.com are willing to host any files that get made for all to download. Anything could be added no limitations in an 'as and when' they get done with no pressure or a timeline. Maybe a poll or something to decide what people want happening, a CD or Internet download? might not be a bad idea.

I can't see there being much point in bringing out a cd online only. Part of the fun for the NBAMN II release was that everyone was looking forward to the physical disc. There is always something more special about that imo. If it is just download only you might as well upload to YouTube, like what this kick ass bat guy is doing.

NBAMN (Nothing But A Mercilees Night) only came about because Brian did most of it and fronted up the cost himself, he wasn't a teenager and was/is very well respected, so his word meant something.

If people want to cross their fingers and go with the CD option then fine, I'm just saying that there's webspace available over on TNW.

I think the comment of uploading to youtube is stupid, since some people might not want to do a video of themselves and they might want the song readily available for downloading.

Couldn't have sang it better...we have nothing but contributions from 2 people so far...at least we need more people to say...I am ready...I have a file...and so on...otherwise, it's pretty much moot point. With this said...I think hosting it on the web, at least for a selection sake is a good idea...after that...hey, if you have enough worthy material for a CD...we can think about it then...

Ok as promised...well to RJ (cause I told him about it) and to Helen and Zina (since they ordered me too :) )...

I went ahead and recorded a very basic, you can tell by the hiss, vocal track version of Cry To Heaven onto my mp3 player

It was more to make a point that it can be done and doesn't have to be the ultimate in sound quality.

Anyway enjoy...

Mike that was really good.
So lets say a total novice want's to try to record a song (me), what would be the best programme to use. Just something basic i have a couple of cds with backing tracks. Again nothing fancy just something that i can mess about with without having to really know what i'm doing lol.
