Unhappy I just wanted to say...

About my post, 'Meat's youngest fan..', I had posted that at stupid o'clock and a bit tired and was not thinking of how my words would affect people so I can but appologise, however two wrongs don't make a right. I admittedly was wrong for saying what I did but then some who replied were also wrong in their responces !!

I take it you're including me in your 'some of those were wrong' bit.

No I wasn't wrong for saying what I did. You can't keep doing this and then playing dumb.

You know there's people who have told me that you really aren't as bad in real life as you are online. Well I don't buy this one bit. Nobody can be so mean and especially about kids and be ok.

If people hadn't of reacted like they did and if I hadn't of posted a link to it in the Bat 3 thread, then realistically you'd of not thought for a second you were wrong. And no doubt wouldn't be posting a sorry now. I wonder if the fact that meat might see it now had anything to do with it

It is not unusual for people to respond to what other people say...that's why this is called a forum and not a lecture...

It is very much advisable to think before posting...and maybe not post at stupid o'clock but rather maybe sleep on it and post your answer in the morning...

The only problem there being, the posts posted at a normal time are just as offensive

I've been back to Zina's Stop in the Name of Love Thread and read it again twice now i've been so close to bumping it cos it was so well written and so true!! I've only been a member here for 10 months and i've never seen an apology thread before!! I wasn't offended in the slightest by the original post but then cats are my love not children, not long ago there was a member on here that said they would set their dog on my best friend's cat and rip him apart!! Neither of us reacted to this cos although it wasn't said in good humour we just chose to ignore it and just stay away from that person as much as possible!! Emma is one of my friends on and off of this site and i think its good to have a real mixture of personalities here just like a real community/family!!

Right...
I was extremely offended by the original post, and I sat on my hands when I first read it as you were put in your place by people already. Ok, I don't see that this thread serves any purpose at all, you could have posted sorry in the thread that you made the comment it would work just as well.

I actually find it offensive that people have to some extent justified the comment. If we want a good community when something is unacceptable we should say so not mess about saying oh shes my good friend so it must be ok. Also excuses about stupid o'clock wear thin, when similarly rude comments have been made at normal hours.

I've seen worse, seen someone telling another to go F*** themselves without any objection from the moral majority, guess some people are easier to object to than others.

To be honest that comment was directed to someone who could stand up for themselves, that kid couldn't stand up and be counted. Also, to be honest I don't find it enjoyable here anymore for reasons that this whole thread points out so I don't really read posts.

And you're right, I'm one hell of a postwhore and get into all the threads but I'm not enjoying it as I used to. Glad I'm not the only one.

I didn't want to add anymore to any of this, but a few of the posts since have made me think different. This post IS NOT to have a go at anyone, just to tell another side of things.

Emma (Samcat) your post makes sense and it's good that we can all have different points of views as that's what really makes a community. Trust me I ignore many many posts by many different users that get on my nerves. However, I find it increasingly hard to just ignore Emmas (meatgrls) posts. 9 times out of 10 they are attacking somebody for no good reason. I've lost count of the newbies she's drove away. Infact if I remember rightly I think in Micheals (monstros) first (or one of) post he was jumped on by Emma. I know i'm not alone in feeling this way about Meatgrl, infact i know a lot of people that just don't bother posting here or .net anymore because of it.

I for one would of welcomed some newbies. As I'm not one of the regulars of 'Off Topic' and would like some more people to have a bit more Meat convo with

If you all look at it logically about the only people who put up with all this nowdays are her friends. Which I admire, but not all of us can keep turning a blind eye.

Sorry if this has offended anyone, but in my eyes a forum is where you can reply to other posts. Saying how you feel and i've tried to do this here as honestly as I can without being hurtful.

Deb, you couldn't be hurtful if you tried to be!!!!!!

I consider many people on here to be my friend, something that don't come easy if you know me, I just can't stand the "let's have a go at this person coz it's easy to" mentality.

My problem is with the someone else can do it and get away with it thing. Yes I know Emma (MeatGirl) away from the site but that's got nothing to do with it, I've seen far worse posted on this site with absolutely no comeback at all.

Yes you're right though Deb, first time Anji contacted me was because of a post by MeatGirl, so guess I owe my happiness to her? LOL

Trust me Michael when provoked I can

But seriously...

As far as Meatgrl goes I truly don't think its a case of "let's have a go at this person coz it's easy to" People really are annoyed by the posts.

Yes I've also seen far worse posted. But I think most peoples problem is that with Meatgrl it's continual. And as far as I can make out everytime is in Meats 'defense / honour' In her eyes that may be well and good, but it doesn't come across well at all. If it was only now and again it'd be different

But yep, at least you have something very good come out of it and you know I'm very happy for you both. You are a very lucky man as Anji is a truly wonderful person and a very dear friend of mine. I guess she's pretty lucky to have found you as well

That's it. That's the best way of describing it I've seen posted, she needs to learn that it offends some people.

Nice one Debs, you got it spot on.

Agree totally! I would have been more impressed with Emma if she came up with a reason (Ligit or not) for what she did rather than just say sorry and not mean it. I don't think Emma would have found an apolagy nessasary if the feedback wasn't so negative...... Emma, stick up for yourself in future. Don't just blatently lie to suck up to people!

From a forum management perspective.

The issue of the "continual" tone of posts has hopefully been addressed now. It's no secret that warnings have been issued in the past and not taken on board. As such action has now been taken to ensure that this doesn't happen again, and this action will remain in place until changes are seen to have been made.

Everyone of us has the ability and capability to upset anyone (or everyone) else on this (or any other) forum with the words we type. I know for a fact that I've managed it in the past with posts I've made in what I thought were jest, which when taken out of context caused a fair deal of offence and bad feeling.

Thinking before hitting "Post" is the only option open to everyone.

Default 2 cents

Let me throw in my 2 cents in this thread ...

I have the impression two issues are getting a little mixed up in this thread.

The 1st issue is obviously a content issue, an OffTopic thread with a questionable comment that some people may find offensive. Well, I'm pretty sure that has happened to a few people around here and I include myself in this list, because I have posted stuff that others considered to be at least borderline offensive. How do I know that? Because people told me in their replies and/or PMs, just like they did in that particular thread. Stuff like this happens in real or virtual life as we simply can't have the same views and taste about everything out there. Usually, we voice our agreement or disagreement and then we move on, because there's actually nothing more to discuss, either you like or you don't. End of story or thread. Move on.

The 2nd issue is something completely different, it's an attitude issue.

That's taken from a PM I recently wrote. Luckily, the website team shares my view and consequently we have taken some action that will hopefully address this. Time will tell.

And in the meantime, if you simply cannot stand what somebody's posting around here, add this person to your Ignore List and you will never see a post from that particular person again - instant relief.
