Default Empty threats and hollow lies?

I was wondering why Meat left the "empty threads and hollow lies" part of IACBTMN from celineīs version for Bat3.

I think Iīve got an explanation:
In Ms Dionīs version itīs all about a coupe that was falling apart because their relationship just had an end and she feels all again and wishes him back.
And the end of their relationship was described with the empty threats and hollow lies part.

But Meat sings about a girl that DIED long ago, when their relationship was (kinda) harmonic, and there wasnt even enough time for them to come to the time of empty threats and hollow lies and so on.

So it was not their fault (well, not really) that they lost each other.

So the same song got two completely different meanings just because of leaving 3 or 4 lines, interesting...

What do you think?

I agree - Meat's version is looking back on their all too brief time together much more fondly than Celine's did. Celine's version seemed to be about getting back with someone with whom she had a very rocky relationship, whereas Meat seems to be remembering a beautiful relationship.

It could also just be they ran out of time on the album. It's gonna be VERY close to the 80 min limit.

This might be off-topic...but can please somebody explain to me why she runs out of the house in tears when he takes off the mask in the video?

That's the only part I didn't get and I am puzzling this out since I've seen a video for the first time...

I thought this was quite obvious. Meat is looking at a girl behind Marion (you see Marion looking very suspicious to Meat) then Meat drops the mask (this could be some methaphorical reference to the fact: "showing his true colours" ie he is a cheat. She runs out the house. Meat runs to the window to see what she is doing (he then stands behind the window in present time to reflect on what happened) and she crashes and kills herself. To me the video is mainly about regret and a missed opportunity to be happy.

Moreover just before all this stuff you see some chaotic images of Meat and women from the past, I think it is indeed about cheating as many songs/videos are.

But this is my personal interpretation.

I've said this elsewhere and must stress this is only my interpretation:

When Meat looks over Marion's shoulder we see a ghostly male figure - perhaps an ex-boyfriend of Marion's. It is here that I think, Meat says something and Marion storms off upset. Just my opinion, but there definitely is a ghostly man firstly whispering in Marion's ear, then walking away in the background. I personally don't think Marion storming out has anything specifically to do with Meat taking off his mask.

I think it looks quite funny how sheīs "driving" the car
And...why is Meat sitting on this throne with the women around in the beginning of the video?

But all in all thatīs OFF TOPIC

Back on topic...please

I doubt very much that taking off mask has nothing to do with it...there is a big gesture there...and it MUST mean something...

the original 1988 pandoras box version of the song clocks in at 8 mins 22 secs. jim steinman is known for hating his songs being edited or cut down to fit onto an album or to get radio play. lets hope songs like "bad for good" and "the future aint what it used to be" are not also cut to fit. could this be where the much documented problems between him and meat lie. i could see jim pushing for all his songs to be recorded in their former glory ( my preference ) and a double disc issued. hence "loving you is a dirty job" and "making love out of nothing at all" are sacraficed for shorter sixx/child compositions. probably why jim was to sue for the bat title. a plausible theory. if this is meats last album then not recording these songs is an oppertunity lost forever, and who knows what else jim had up his sleeve.

On the other hand though, some of Jim's songs do go on a little longer than they 'probably' need to lol.
