Not according to Scott Ian's book! I think the non drinking thing is another one of his tall tales!

Meat says many things in interviews .. probably to keep himself from falling asleep .. but lager is hardly "beer"

However, some of his shows have had him simulating drinking from a can or bottle as part of the act .. a good case in point was the show in Newcastle where he chose to use a bottle of Newcastle brown (because he tends to try and do things which pay some recognition to the area or city he is in) and then when his vocal chords froze was accused by some of drinking on stage so "he couldn't have been ill" .. it's called acting!

Personally I take Scott Ian's writing with the same pinch of salt I take many things, and what a person does now can be very different to what they did on one described incident over 15 years ago at a time they were under stress Meat would say now he doesn't smoke, and he hates smoking .. but when he was younger he did, and smoked cigars for many years. Not now.

If you want to know Greg, there's only one person who can answer your question .. but does it really matter?

I hate mushrooms. Though when I'm playing Super Mario I don't mind them.

I remember him having a problem with teetotalers during the The Casa de Carne Tour before opening a bottle of beer at the start of Dead Ringer For Love so doubt he hates the stuff that much.

The bottles of beer were brought out of the wheeled cooler as part of the Casa de Carne storyline, and you might recall Meat was responding that night to an on-line comment he'd seen after a previous show in which a daft woman had written disgustedly about him drinking beer on stage ... the fact that they were all three of them acting, and at most had a few sips, appeared to have soared over her head without ruffling her parting

What she made of Patti calling for a bible and a beer one hesitates to imagine .. some arcane devil worship perhaps?

Larger and beer are different as I understand it....

I find it interesting (and amusing) that what a performer likes or does not like becomes such a focus. I've read that Meat has, at times made things 'interesting' when being interviewed..Not sure if he does and it does not matter...I think it is too funny and a clever way to keep some of your personal life away and private and the scrutiny! I would probably do the same thing if I was being asked the stuff he gets asked.
