Default Celebrity Apprentice Recap

This two hour season premiere started off with the introductions of the mens team vs. the ladies team. Meat was saved for second to last for the men.

They were greeted by Donald Trump and the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. The contestants were instructed to come up with a team name and report to the board room for their task.

They break away to the guys choosing their names where Richard Hatch tried to reign in all the ideas but had his own in mind (he came with a list). Hatch quickly started to "take control" over everything. Gary Busey pitched some idea about Sperm Farmers which had me in stitches. And then I saw Meat laughing behind his hand, which made me laugh harder. The guys came up with the name Backbone. They unanimously chose a team leader as Richard Hatch. The ladies were seen collectively coming up with the name ASAP...and if you listen to La Toya Jackson you'd be all confused cause' she f*cked up the name multiple times. I'm still not sure what it all stands for but it is an acronym.

The first task is to run a pizza parlor for charity. Gary Busey was the Pepperoni Profit dressed in some get up with his hair sticking out like he stuck his finger in an electrical socket. Meat was shown doing prep work with Jose Conseco. Meat was prepping the dough and weighing it. While David Cassidy was on topping prep work. When the doors were open, Meat was stationed at the cash register. Collecting big money, giving a teary fan a nice bear hug, and getting excited for the cause. I think I spotted the blow up from the Casa tour (it was either Meat or Randy) on the sidewalk by the pizza parlor. The ladies were shown doing the same prep work along with Dionne Warwick trying desperately to work a credit card machine.

The ladies had a BIG sale of $40,000 which they executed but failed to make a $35,000 delivery to the fire house after winning the taste test by a Celebrity Chef (whose name is escaping me). The ladies got a little catty in the boardroom but that did not pale in comparison to Jose Conseco going after Richard Hatch who was physically bullying David Cassidy. The ladies ended up winning the task sending team Backbone to the boardroom. Donald asked each of the men who he should fire. Busey went first and stated Hatch...then Meat Loaf stated Richard...Conseco and others said Hatch. Hatch was asked to bring two others into the board room...he chose Conseco and Cassidy. Cassidy ultimately gets fired as Trump senses that he just didn't have the confidence to be a leader.

Next weeks episode previewed Meat Loaf being the project manager for the next task. The teaser has me saying "oh no" because Meat sends the team to the wrong place. YIKES! Then Meat states, I'm doing terrible. Just enough to make me worry all week long. LOL. I'm still not mentally ready to "see" Meat cry, but I know it's coming. Kleenex are standing by.

That is the show as a recap. My take on Meat's participation. I've seen this show before and Meat is playing the smart card. He is liked by the other team members. But he's quiet and letting others blow up. You could see he was laughing in his collar. When things got heated in the board room, you can see him shift in his chair and scratch the back of his ear AS IF saying, I'm not involved in all that. There was nothing to incriminate Meat's image. It was all fine. Edits or whatever, Meat's integrity is totally intact.

Gary Busey was hilarious but I can see how he could get under skin. I like Lil' Jon too.

Great review Suzanne! I too enjoyed watching Meat "lay low" while the squabbling was going on. However, from watching some of the preview clips, we know we will see some passion in the coming weeks! :) The very brief shot of Meat starting to talk about his charity, The Painted Turtle, showed him choking up a little. No surprise there. Genuine people are a pleasure to watch.

Yeah, thank you so much Suzie. A geat review, sounds like it was a great show. What a shame David Cassidy got fired so early on. I thought he might because he was picked up for drink driving in Florida a couple of days after those clips from the pizza shop were shown.

That was an awesome review Suzie! Chef's name is Curtis Stone. And I laughed hysterically when I saw the blow up doll from the Casa tour in front of the pizza place. I thought it loooked more like the Randy one. Vicki would probably know the answer! Will have to rewatch it to see.
So excited that Meat is the next Project Manager! TV Guide Magazine has the description of next weeks, March 13th, episode as: "The stars pen a book for kids, then perform it. But one project manager fails to unite a team." I think Meat will do well on this task. Think of the Bookaboo appearance. It is the Project Manager's charity that gets the money for the winning team. Since Meat said that he won alot of money for The Painted Turtle, I am guessing that Meat leads the guys team to victory next week! I am hoping anyway.

Great Review of the show Suzie Q!

I think Meat will do just fine as project manager. I read something about they have to write a children's book...and read it to children.

I'm thinking Meat may be using his "lamb voice"...LMAO...hilarious moment from a previous show at REH with Cindy!

Can't wait for next weeks show!
Great Job MEAT!!!

The women were using the ASAP acronym for something else...they couldn't get it right when they were asked by Donald Trump what it stood for...and neither can I !! (and I watched it twice..lol) Something about, actresses, singers, professionals...I might have to look again later to be certain :)

Yeah, Curtis Stone is an Aussie, he's very famous here. He was on last year's Celebrity Apprentice and always appears on Oprah's show. He cooked for her and her guests when she came here last year. That sounds right up Meat's alley, the children's book, considering how well he did on Bookaboo last year. Yeah, let's hope Meat's team won.

For the Team Name, A.S.A.P. stands for Artists, Singers, Authors and Professionals with a Purpose. LaToya butchered it...hilarious.

I think it was Artists, Singers, Authors, Professionals for a Purpose. LaToya got me confused too.

Meat did a great job and I'm really looking forward to next week. Great summary, Suzie.

Have just watched the show and it was great - very entertaining! Meat remained pretty much in the background in this first episode, but I can't wait to see him shine - which we know he is gonna do in the weeks to come. Thanks again to Suzie for posting the link.

It was an interesting episode, sometimes riveting and often funny! I can't help but feel manipulated when I watch a "reality" show, because it's the producer's job to filter what I see for the sake of ratings. He'd be crazy not to. So last night, when I found myself loving to hate Richard Hatch, I appreciated it when Trump asked the other men "Who would you fire?" The fact that three replied "Richard" made me feel like I was being shown something at least close to the truth.

Silly question: Why did it take three women to deliver the pizzas? I could have done it by myself :)

I'm already looking forward to next Sunday! But I won't need any "closure" about Meat and Gary, because I'm not sitting in judgment on either of them, except in the small context of how their actions may have affected their team's chances of winning. The way I see it, Gary did something that honked Meat off, Meat got mad and reacted, and that's that. Whether we see it next week or later on, learning the details won't change my appreciation of the passionate honesty of the moment.
