Default Dead Ringer Digital Remaster???

I was just looking on TuneTribe.com and they have Dead Ringer For Love (1998 Digital Remaster) MP3! And it sounded so good and so clear. No hissing, heard a couple of instruments I had not heard before!

Anyone know if the whole album was remastered (if so, want it bad, right now) or just this song for The Very Best Of (Boooo)?

Would be great to have a proper remaster of that album but I don't think there is one of the whole thing. I say put Ted Jensen on the case. After hearing how crystal clear and loud HCTB sounds I'm sure his mastering skills would do miracles with that album.

A proper, remastered (and dare I say expanded) Dead Ringer issue is long, long overdue.

What they should do is simple:

DEAD RINGER: Remastered 2 Disk Special Edition

Disk 1
  1. Peel Out
  2. I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us
  3. More Then You Deserve
  4. I'll Kill You If You Don't Come Back
  5. Read 'Em & Weep
  6. Nocternal Pleasure
  7. Dead Ringer For Love
  8. Everything Is Permitted
  9. Rock & Roll Dreams Come Through (Never before released recording Meat did in 1981, but traded it for Dead Ringer For Love)
Disk 2: Live in 1981
  1. Come In The Night / Let The Revels Begin
  2. Bat Out Of Hell
  3. You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth
  4. Dead Ringer For Love
  5. Read 'Em & Weep
  6. I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us
  7. Gimme Shelter

Loving the live CD idea but I'm not a big fan of adding extra tracks to the main album - anything extra should go on CD2 imho. Great idea though.

I agree, a remaster would be fantastic.

I doubt RnR dreams was ever recorded during the DR sessions...

Just want to add that I think Meat also did a version of Bad for Good in 1981, unreleased version of the one that went on Steinman's album. Or so it says on one of the Steinman fan sites =D That would be awesome too

I hope the 1981 show is not that Dortmund disaster where Meat couldn't even get in the same zip code as a note. They even did "Paradise" as an instrumental and the band performed a couple of songs without Meat singing.

I wonder if he actually traded Rock and Roll Dreams for Dead Ringer and Read em and Weep. Both the latter two had slightly different musicians on them and the basic tracks were not produced by JS (unlike the rest of the songs) - suggesting they were recorded later after the trade? I bet there is a 'dead ringer' version of rock and roll dreams out there but I suspect the 81 version of BFG by Meat will be the aborted BFG sessions version - not sure that would ever make a CD but would like to hear for curiosity

Between 81 dortmund and 82 wembley I'm sure a decent live CD could be released - bat 82 was released live on vinyl in 83. A better option though would be to do a Springsteen style reissue - remastered album plus live DVD (or 2, both concerts) and perhaps even the rare 'return of meat', documentary. Oh and of course the Dead Ringer movie

I wouldn't like to have heard meat singing r& r dreams from that time , since his voice was nowhere near what it was in the Bat II version.

I'd have thought that the basic musical tracks of BfG and RnRD would have been the same for the versions that Meat tried to record (if indeed he ever got as far as laying down a vocal recording for these tracks) and the versions that ended up on Steinman's solo release.

I was going to do a multiple quote thingy but couldnae be assed.

@PanicLord - I was never keen on Dead Ringer being tacked onto the end of the 'Bat Revamped' album, but this could work if it's from the same session (if it even exists that is!)

@WarioLoaf - Love the live cd idea!

@ Everyone else! - I thought the Bad For Good/Renegade Angel recording was 1979, I could be wrong tho. It'd be good/interesting to hear these recordings one day but understand why they haven't been so far, again if they still exist!

Overall, yes this is looong overdue and would make a perfect double release backed with Jim's own Bad For Good! Wonder who has the masters and/or rights...?

From what I understand - and I don't think anyone knows the full story, BFG and DR projects were quite discrete - the former was more around 79, the latter a little later. JS assembled a pack of songs for meat and had the basic tracks done with a core band (many of whom were part of the BFG cast of thousands) - then it was over to Meat. There was then some negotiation over a swap of songs. Max Weinberg was drummer on DR basic tracks - Liberty Devitto drummed on read em and weep and dead ringer and I believe Allan Schwartzberg drummed on JS R&R Dreams (but nothing else on BFG - so late on perhaps?). All possibly different sessions. There could in fact be 2 R&R dreams versions - an original Meat cut for BFG and then perhaps a re-work intended for DR, but then given back to JS.
