Looks like ticket sales have been terrible leading to the entire US tour to be abandoned.
Not surprising really as Meat hasn't been a force in the US since the mid 90's. |

Sounds like an embarrassing shambles....should stick to the UK.
Feel sorry for the fans, cast and venues who have lost money. |

The LAST thing that springs to my mind when I see that photo of these people is Meat Loaf. ![]() To me this whole thing comes across as Steinman trying to rewrite history and indeed go with that skinny blonde dude in leather pants he had in mind for Bat in the first place. Luckily for most of us history went in a totally different direction. |

IMO it probably went down like this: they got a better offer to do New York and the figures didn't add up to tour as scheduled and do the 8 week residency. So the producers went another route. Very hard on the cast and crew who thought they had 12 months of work. But might all work out for the show in the US. David is a brilliant business man, and there are 4 awesome music & theatre guys working on this show. They know much better than us.

It all comes down to sales in the end.
You'd have thought a theater guy with a panache for repeatedly writing smash hits panning different eras and genres combined, would be able to sell a Broadway show on talent and reputation alone. To the person who cited 'David' as an excellent businessman, well the potential of the art has not to date been realised, and the recognition deserved by both the writer and performer this forum is most enbebted to is diminished as a result. .... And that's a statement that goes well beyond the musical alone. Last edited by ricgough; 22 Nov 2018 at 01:34. |
