Default Has the new DVD given you a new love for Break it?

It has for me... YOU GOTTA BREAKKK IT!

I think its one of the highlights of the DVD. Meat is have a BLAST and it brings you back to 1987.

Not particularly but then again I always did quite like the live versions of the song anyway.

No. I still don't like the arrangement and prefer the Wuthering Heights/Mike Vogel version.

Have always thought Break It! to be a terrific number, and great opening one for a live show .. Meat can really make it rock, and it sets the scene for what is to follow; an amazing night of rock and roll. So it didn't take the DVD to convince me

"Break It" never was my favourite - although it was nearly perfect on "3 Bats Live" I thought it wasn't good. But now ... it's another side of story ... On the newest DVD "Guilty Pleasure" this song ("Break It") is not nearly perfect ... it's perfect All is superb - Meat's voice, music arrangement ...
So my answer is YES - the new DVD has given me a new love for "Break It"!

Was this the one with Brian May on guitar? And did Vogel have anything to do with DOTV demo recordings or otherwise? I like the NLE arrangement, studio and live. Haven't heard the Guilty Pleasure Tour tho..
I would like to know if the arrangement from the Guilty Pleasure Tour DVD is different in comparison to 2006's The Monster Is Loose. And if the arrangement is different from 2007's 3 Bats Live DVD. Are they the same?

um... no Brian May. Steinman did the soundtrack to MTV's remake of Wuthering Heights some years back. In the film Mike Vogel sang 'If It Ain't Broke, Break It', which gave the song its first release. It has nothing to do with DOTV. Brian was featured on Meat's Bat 3 version of Bad For Good. Is this perhaps what you're thinking of? He was also on HCTB as well, on the 'Love Isn't Real/Next Time You Stab Me In The Back' track, alongside Steve Vai.
On a side note, to my ears, the GP arrangement of Break It is as near as dammit the same as previous versions (apart from the abridged intro)
Obviously Mark and Kasim aren't around any more, so the bass/keys are played by different guys, but they don't sound all that different from Casa De Carne/3 Bats to me at all.

i have not heard the wuthering heights version of " Break it" for comparison but I love all of Jim's songs. I have the Dream Engine 3 set Cd, got it back in about 96 from the original meat loaf/steinman fan mailing list before they split. I will say this, I was still disappointed in the "Bad for Good". I love all of Jim's songs from those early Cd's , including Stark Raving love. I think Bad for Good needed a younger voice and I love the way Jim produced it. I thought Meat's " The future ain't what it used to be " was good, but not as good as the original singer. I would have preferred to have heard Jennifer Hudson do it solo. I really liked what Meat did with " In the land of the pig the Butcher is king" and the "cry baby". That was A+ Meat loaf.
currently I can't quit listening to " what part of my body hurts the most" . I may make a Sig line for that, it is outstanding.

I enjoy If It Ain't Broke on TMIL album, kinda like it on 3 Bats Live. Digged seeing it last year in PEI live, And enjoyed so much hearing and seeing it on Guilty Pleasures DVD tour. I could be mistaken, Paul throws in a extra guitar solo in the most recent release a minute or so before the song concludes :) The song itself is definitely a highlight. Because to me, it may not be like the material Meat and Jim are well known for, but the track is a lot of fun. And a pleasure to experience being the jam that is by Meat and NLE.

I don't remember it to well on the live disc that comes with Hang Cool album. But that's okay. I do recall playing it and liking it just the same. I like how the song is stapled into the last handful tours. If it gets replaced or stays in from here on out. I'm great either way.

So I get home a little late last night and put on this disc. And it was mid-way thru If It Ain't Broke I just said, that is a perfect band. I understand perfect may be too much. But these guys just keep getting better. And they're still going. Meat is the man, and today I just want to say I am happy to be a fan. The filming and everything is so slick with the songs. It's all good. It's just all good! Love the DVD.
