Painted Turtle / Walk of Fame ???

After following the "Meat...Walk of Fame" thread, I had an idea. I believe, as others had posted there, that Meat would much prefer that the $30,000 it would cost to "buy" a star on the Walk Of Fame, go to the Painted Turtle. As of this morning, I saw that there were 4,050 members in the MLUKFC. If every member donated $10 we could raise $40,500! I'm sure many would contribute more. Even if only 50% contributed $10 each, we'd still raise $20,250. How great would it be for the members of this site to make a donation to the Painted Turtle for over $20,000 in Meat's name?

Something tells me that Meat would appreciate that much more than any award!

I would be glad to coordinate such an effort, as I'm sure many others on here would too.

(If I've violated any rules on here for soliciting, I apologize....... )

A nice idea, but let me lock this thread for now so the staff can discuss it.

Personally I don't think the idea is doable, as I don't believe we are in a position to collect and pass on funds.
Nor can we promote a link to a third party where funds are collected.
Off the top of my head, the only thing we could do is to promote a direct link to Painted Turtle so people could make their own donations in Meat's name.

We will however give the matter our attention, talk it over, and post an update as and when it's decided.

We've looked into the logistics of a coordinated fund raising effort for Painted Turtle, and i'm afraid we can't find a viable way to make it work.

There has been a stickied thread set up here for anybody wanting to know more about The Painted Turtle, and wanting to make a donation.
