Looks like Meat could be song hunting in Nashville and taking in a Trisha Yearwood concert while he's there. This info is from a blog not an official source so I can't vouch for its accuracy.

If its true, I guess the album could be a rock country syle as I've heard that Nashville is THE place to go for country songwriting.
Imo though, I have to say country rock's quite good.... ![]() |

I can imagine the person writing this blog made that mistake though... or mix up is the word to use of course
![]() You have a good point there, Diane, about this being true or not. But if it IS, we are likely to hear more about it in the future. |

I'm sure I remember an interview with Meat sometime earlier in the year where he said that he was working with some songwriters who were based in Nashville (or something like that).
And ... to put 2 and 2 together and come up with an answer which could feed the speculation about the new album ... Desmond Child owns a place in Nashville ![]() |

I remember reading that too Andy. It wouldn't surprise me that Meat would be looking for songs in Nashville. He took Mercury Blues and rocked it like it's never been rocked before.

Bon Jovi have gone country, Def Leppard worked with Tim McGraw on their recent album...Meat has always had the country rock type thing going with some of the songs anyway so if it works it works...

Trisha Yearwood has been around for a long time now, and is an awesome singer/songwriter and performer, so i wouldnt be surprised at all if Meat checked her out.
I remember reading too somewhere that he was heading to nashville at some point and lets face it if thats the direction he wants to go in then there's no better place to be. There are also alot of new bands/artists coming thru lately, so many that CMA had to create a new category for the awards, a much heavier rock sound to a very basic country style, in fact in some cases the only thing qualifying them as a country band is the steel guitar. Old established artists are going rockier too. So its no so far fetched that these two genres and their artists are starting to mix and use each others strengths. |

My mistake! I was sent the youtube link a couple of days ago by a friend who knows how much I like Lynyrd Skynyrd so they thought I'd appreciate Metallica's cover. They talked about Metallica's new album so I thought (obviously wrongly) that the song was on there.
Nevertheless it's still a great southern rock song and I can still hear Meat doing something like this. Diane |

![]() ![]() ![]() Either that, or he might simply looking for new songs to play with ![]() As Diane says, he took Mercury Blues and completely changes the style of the song. There are some really good country flavored rock songs though (Billy Idol's "Sweet Sixteen" springs immediately to mind) so it will be interesting to see if Meat adds to the genre. |

testify isnt country by any standard.
I guess it depends how open minded you are to the country genre in general but as mentioned above, country doesnt mean merle haggard these day, some hard rock tunes with a slight country edge are coming thru these days. Yes it is just rumours right now, but the mention of meat visiting nashville fore this purpose has sprung up in several places now so prob a little more concrete than a future jim/meat collaboration ![]() If Meat tried to adopt a rock style from another band or even what 'in' at the moment, it would kill him dead career wise. If the nashville thing is true then i think people need to see the bigger picture rather than focus on 'good ole country tunes' Maybe he shouldve visited just outside nashville lol then folk might not be so stereotypical ![]() |

Just to mention it, Rob Cavallo the potential producer of 'A Bull In A China Shop' co-produced Kid Rocks latest album 'Rock N' Roll Jesus', which has some amazing country rock style songs on it.
You don't have to think that far to see a connection there. ![]() ![]() Keep Rockin' |
