Not the first time he's covered it.

:twisted: Gimme Shelter by Meat circa 1981 :shock:

YouTube Video

RadioMaster 23 Aug 2008 19:18

RockPop festival, Westfalenhalle, Dortmund, GER, 1981

duke knooby 23 Aug 2008 19:20

brilliant clip...

is that davey johnstone on guitar, and paul jacobs on piano??

AndrewG 23 Aug 2008 19:51

~~~~ING AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Meat's always put on such memorable performances he's had fantastic backing bands.
Never knew he did the whole Springsteen on the piano thing and crowd surfing at the end, brilliant.
:yodel:
I've always mantained that I should have been born 20 years earlier, this just proves that once again. :D
That whole show looks brilliant. You kinda wonder why they released the Wembley gig on VHS if this one looks so much more intense. But then I've always thought they should just release them all. Lol.
allrevvedup 23 Aug 2008 20:17
can't see the file but if it's the same one i saw on youtube a few weeks back...meat doesn't do much singing and spends more time pumping the fist and jumping into the crowd
because sadly the rest of the show was.....hmmm, how shall i put it...........awful :(
This is the worst singing Ive ever heard of him, it's painful to watch 90% of the time, dont think Ive ever managed to get through the whole tape actually.....
Off Topic:
bit of useless RJ trivia:
The arena where this was filmed was actually the place where I first met Bubbles :D
allrevvedup 23 Aug 2008 20:58
so that's where the romance blossomed... and yeah it is the performance i found a couple of weeks back...his voice was wrecked...and the guitarist spends most of the time singing the song instead of meat
RadioMaster 23 Aug 2008 21:04
somehow strange that both, his worst show on tape, and the worst Ive seen live have both been recorded at this arena :?
allrevvedup 23 Aug 2008 21:11
From his account, he was performing gimme shelter in the late 60's in detroit...would've loved to have heard him sing that with the voice he had then...basing his voice on the more then you deserve stage show performance
RadioMaster 23 Aug 2008 21:21
if you think that would be interesting.....
there's an interview where he claims he sung Martha at a concert in 75.
Now THAT's sometning I would like to hear :cool:
mszee 23 Aug 2008 21:49
Well, that was rather painful...
meatloaf-unofficial 24 Aug 2008 00:21
I hear crowd surfing is painful.... poor Meat
Now thats why I love this guy... so much better than other artists who are live imo...
What a maniac - a :cool: maniac :-)
Wario 24 Aug 2008 07:26
Sadly, My Rip off the DVD cut a few seconds during the end for some reson
Sorry and glad all of you enjoyed it
:kickass:
Battybarb 25 Aug 2008 11:06
was not too keen on this video...
MeatGrl1 26 Aug 2008 11:57
I was sent this on myspace awhile ago and it's great, love the crowd surfing at the end :shock::lol:.
Found Bat Out Of Hell from the same concert I believe;
Only who thought it was a good idea to turn Pamela's mic up so that she sorta drowns him out a bit :shock: :?. Just found Dead Ringer For Love also...
RadioMaster 26 Aug 2008 21:50
it always amazes me that even at the worst shows he's still able to pull off a decent BOOH.
At this point he can do BOOH in his sleep with his mouth taped shut...
