Steinman has spoken...

...of sorts.

This brief snippet is taken fromRockman where you can read the full message.

D) I have had NO involvement in BAT3, and let the Rockman folk know that. Id be glad to wish him the best on his CD, which should be THE MONSTER IS LOOSE. BTW, two years ago I wrote an Email to Meat raving about a few new songs: PARADISE LOST ("No matter how tragic the loss/No matter how heavy the cost/To this very day/ I can stand tall & say/ I fought for paradise/And Paradise lost/ I fought for Paradise/ But Paradise lost/ Was it this/ or was it that/ but Paradise lost in the final at bat/Paradise lost in the final At Bat." That was for Meat, but he showed no interest, as was the case then with "NOT ALLOWED TO LOVE" and "BRAVER THAN WE ARE". But its ok, becase they'll be thrilling with THE DREAM ENGINE. Oh the other songs I wrote to him raving about were GOD HAS LEFT THE BUILDING and THE MONSTER IS OUT OF THE CAGE! (hmmmm, wonder where he got his current title. Mine was: "Whats the point of all this fury/all this bitterness and rage/ Theres no point at all/ We're only young/ And the Monster Is Out Of The Cage"

Some very interesting things being said, especially THE MONSTER IS OUT OF THE CAGE! part, and Meat showing no interest in "BRAVER THAN WE ARE"

Pud

RSG 03 Jul 2006 04:28

I like 'Paradise Lost' lyrics alot.
Shocked Meat shown no interest in BTWA...
Can't please everyone. I always thought the female vocal part would be perfect on Patti's part.

Yeah that was a bit of a shocker to me as well and like you, I think Patti's female vocals would fit perfectly.

I would like to say that despite this coming from Steinman, there are two sides to every story and like most things connected with Meat and Jim, we probably never will get at the actual 'true' facts of what went on.

Pud

Ma.Ra 03 Jul 2006 08:26

All misterious. If this is true, I would be really pissed off, because the lyrics sounds good.

AndrewG 03 Jul 2006 08:57

Well I'm not pissed off because you can never really force anybody to do what you want (slavery has been abolished, the last I heard).

Thing is, maybe Meat thought working too closely with Steinman was the obvious thing to do (ie what was expected) and maybe he just felt he should take Bat III into a different direction.
You can't really prevent someone for not showing interest. Maybe he decided on something else while he was on tour last year (ie rather have more hard core stuff or so). It could also be (and this would not surprise me) that if Meat had taken on these new Steinman tracks maybe there were all sorts of clauses Meat would have had to stick to (bit of the old Sonnenberg influence perhaps? -or taken on the songs meant Meat would have to settle for Steinman's "Bat out of Hell" trademark), the recording timeline may have been to long also or so.

Who knows wtf really happened and what the reasons are! I personally do not care too much as that is all stuff that happens behind "closed doors" (ie only the album releases, songs, music and tours are of great interest to me) Let's see wait and see what Bat 3 will be like. Looks as if we will get to hear these new Steinman tunes at some point anyway (Dream Engine). But "Paradise Lost" does sound like an interesting song, even going by just the lyrics.

DazLoaf01 03 Jul 2006 12:21

How do we know this came from Steinman?

AndrewG 03 Jul 2006 12:39

That Jacqueline woman posted that on Rockman. I think it is quite reliable. Pud knows more about that.

AndyK 03 Jul 2006 12:40

It is from a 100% reliable source.

And as do I ;)

Relating to the lyrics, I didn't like the section that came from Monster\Cage.
Of course that doesn't mean I don't like the song.. I haven't heard it yet. But Meat's recent recording is amazing. And I wouldn't trade it for anything. Kick@$$ job.

PanicLord 03 Jul 2006 19:23

I can't help feeling that a lot of the "argument" between Meat and Jim has been invented (or at least prolonged) in order to keep people talking about the both of them. Something is coming up in a week or two which just would not happen if 50% of what is written is actually meant. I cannot say more than that just now. Hopefully I will be able to soon! :sneaky: :shens:
Anyway, Jim's lyrics sound great (as we would expect) but what we've heard so far from Meat KICKS ASS!! Let's celebrate what we've got and stop mourning what we've not!

This quote is from a source that is considered 100% reliable in the Steinman fan community.

So you could draw the conclusion that....

A. Jim Steinman is lying.

B. The source is not 100% reliable after all and was not given a message from Jim to forward (i.e. is lying).

C. Meat is lying.

D. There is some sort of misunderstanding (hey, it's a possibility even if not a probability).

I'm not going to speculate myself as I wouldn't like a lawsuit on my ass.

I do hope people realise how potentially volotile this situation is right now, and think of the damage to Meat and Jimmy's relationship that be caused before they post on this.

Lord Kagan 03 Jul 2006 21:57

oooooooh threats lol, i didnt mean pud i meant trex2006 caught out "lying" if he was i dunno but judging by what meat said i guess he was.

I think what all of us should realise also is that these kind of things can be taken out of context so easily. Whatever anybody writes will never truly reflect the mood they are in, so take things with a pinch of salt is my advice. Certainly can't make a study out of all this stuff. Let's just wait till Bat 3 and all our prayers will be answered.

The reason I asked before is the source was reliable was because I though the lyrics supposedly from Steinman were a joke... they are way too cliche'd. Hey, I know Steinman does that sometimes, but in a more imaginative way than that. Typical that people over at the 'other board' are raving about them. I'll shut up now ha!

Just quoted myself above because what I said is true.

I didn't post the link to stir up trouble, I posted it because it's interesting and if you follow the links, there's more interesting things being said about Steinman and future projects.

Some people might want to focus on one aspect of what Steinman said and that's fine, but it should be made clear that that one aspect ISN'T the whole post.

I guess you never get old for the school boy stuff; he said this he said that. To be truthful I don’t care who is telling the truth I just think at the end of the day its going to be very unlikely that Meat is ever going to sing Jims songs again and personally whether you agree or not I find this very sad.
Hey sure maybe I should get a life and move on it’s their life’s why should I care? But I do
I honestly believe that meat is at his best singing Jim Steinman songs, to bad it had to end this way
Meat keep rockin
Jim keep Writing

RadioMaster 04 Jul 2006 21:33

IMO the whole arguement is just Meatīs and Jimīs thing, we should leave it to them.
If Jim says something on Rockman, we should take it as it is and leave it to Meat do decide if thatīs true or not.

For me the only important thing is that I will get a good album to hear. Itīs IMM absolutely unimportant if it could be better or worse with/without working whoever on it, we will got it as it will be and cant change anything, I, for myself, will just enjoy it how it is.

LucyK! 04 Jul 2006 21:34

I think I'm going to wait til October, buy the album and read the credits on the sleeve to see what's what. So many rumours doing the rounds I can't keep up with what's true and what's not

PanicLord 04 Jul 2006 22:25

I actually thought Meat was agreeing with me, as the point of my post was that you cannot believe everything (anything?) you read.

No offence or personal commentary was intended or implied as far as I can tell - the post was purely about rumour mongering. If someone has spotted some personal dig that I missed, I am sorry.

Meat posted back in good humour I thought, and I fully support the mod's no private bitchin stance.

No, too many people THINK they know exactly what's happening and THAT'S the problem. Unless you were a fly on the wall it would be fair to assume none of us is qualified to comment as we have had no first hand involvement. It's absolutely none of our business to interfere or speculate on legal matters and it's not going to happen here. (Read the stickied message at the top of the Bat III forum).

The information given the other day was from a reliable source and was indeed true. The confusion occured when someone thought that they should have been credited for it when in actual fact they shouldn't.

Out of all the people who posts on Rockman if it's posted by JD/Jacqueline you can trust it to be 100% accurate and reliable. Even if you disagree with its content.

BTW: what problem do you native-english citizens with these f*-words? I mean, I was educated bi-lingual, but is it really that problematic to quote his original words? Nobodys complaning, just his own words. Don't worry, I'm just curious, not mad.

Cheers,

I am sure, even not English-speaking people on this forum, will have no problem reading Jim's blog (as his Thought for the Day-comments are not That hard to read lol) - but as this is mlukfc..let them read it and comment on RR, okay?

Love,
Mariella
