Which CD did you buy today?
The idea is simple: just like in the "What are you listening?" thread, you can post which CD's you've bought (today). Any thoughts about it would be nice too :)
To get things started: "Look! I got a new CD!" http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CMZZZZZZZ_.jpg Well, in fact, I got 5. I bought a complete set of Arturo Toscanini conducting the NBC Symphony Orchestra on all of Ludwig Van Beethoven's 9 Symphonies. The last few months, I'm really starting to appreciate classical music, and Beethoven in perticular. This set is widely seen as one of the better collections, and since it was just released in a "budget version", I decided that this was a nice way to get a load of good music. |
Katie Melua, Call Of The Search.
A few words about it? Awesome! Superb music to chill out and relax to, her version of Lilac Wine is beautiful!! perhaps I could get it piped onto the forum? |
Beautiful Sky, from a band called "Reamonn"
Does anyone outside Germany do know them? If not, try to get one. It's a POP album, but in a positive way (like Kasim say of himself "intelligent pop") I saw them on a life show in january and they rocked! |
I just bought:
http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US...393/639376.jpg Romeo Void compilation Two things: Debora Iyall's voice and some great sax! Why: Saw the "Bands Reunited" thing on VH1.....totally got me hooked again! Three Words: Never Say Never! jo |
Quote:
We had a sort of Idols thing, called Starmaker, where a band was 'manufactured'. One of the songs they did on their album was "Supergirl". In the wake of that, Reamonn released it as a single. |
Not today, but recently.
http://www.zztop.com/bdhrtour/coveranimzz.gif Simple. Straight. Probably the best since Eliminator. :)) |

I've been waiting for a thread like this!
Two goodies today: http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P...2.LZZZZZZZ.jpg http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P...2.LZZZZZZZ.jpg And as for Romeo Void, Never Say Never is simply one of the greatest singles to come out of the 80's. If only for the line "I might like you better if we slept together". Classic. |

Love it!! The vocals are weird, sometimes  but the music is worth it!! |
Star Sailor - Four on the Floor - Lovely..........
(first heard Star Sailor at Twickers Stadium as support the The Rolling Stones) |
"Hell of a tester" by The Rasmus. 8)

Spector's getting on a bit. Starsailor prove this. . .however all the singles have been pleasant enough. Can anyone recomend their new album?
|
Today I bought a second-hand copy of
http://www.thefirstcut.net/lisdoy.jpg because of some unreleased tracks on the B-sides Further, I coulnd't resist buying both http://217.148.171.144/productimages...9_bg_front.jpg and http://217.148.171.144/productimages...7_bg_front.jpg (the last one is an update for my VHS) Bummer that I'm nowhere near a DVD player until sunday evening... |

Katie Melua "Call off the search"
Joss Stone "The Soul Sessions" - proof there are young people who can actually sing! on order/to be released: Eric Clapton "Me and Mr. Johnson" - proof the old guys can still do it! Mike |
Yeah Mike, Katie Melua. I've been listening to her and she is sensational!!!
Diane |
She is, a bit like Maria Muldaur, remeber her?
Joss Stone is a teenager, 16/17 I think, from Devon, very old style soul, excellent, been on jay leno show in US. Better than "fitty cent" and that lot - know wot I'n sayin'? Mike |
I ahve ordered the Katie Melua album.
I love the Crazy song. Also been looking for some country CD's. Just bought Garth- Double Live and Shania - Wild & Wicked And the last DVD: School Of Rock |
http://icedearth.com/img/rel_gb_cs.jpg
The limited edition of Iced Earth's "The Glorious Burden". Had the mp3s for a while, and musically, it kicks butt. Vocally it's okay (their singer left, and they got Tim "Ripper" Owens to replace him - I liked Matt better), but lyrically it's cringeworthy: the album is mainly focussed on wars, and the US Civil one in particular. For my Dutch state of mind, I find it overly patriotic, and too sentimental. |
Just ordered this album
http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg Johnny Cash - Live At San Quentin Worth the momeny purely for the live version of San Quentin which, imho, is incredible. Been having a bit of a browse through Amazon lately and using it's lists feature to make a list of country albums i want!!! |
I just bought the Leann Rimes Greatest Hits today at lunch time.

|
Not today, but earlier this weak:
http://www.afterforever.com/new/imag.../invisible.jpg After Forever's new CD, "Invisible Circles". With the departure of Mark Jansen to Epica, After Forever took a different direction and made a hell of an album. Also, I picked up a 2nd-hand copy of Therion's "Lepaca Kliffoth": http://www.toysfactory.co.jp/hard/ar...s/therion4.jpg |
while doing food shopping again, in tescos ,there was two drums full of c.ds cassettes, videos d.vds. for 50p.£2.00p and £3.00p. :D no covers on them,so dont really know what are on the two double cds i bought :o :o ,,, music to watch girls go by volume 3, and the q awards. i suppose there will be something worth listening to for my £2.00p.
|
Wow, metal, gothic and prog fans here :).
I bought Ozric Tentacles new album "Spiral in Hyperspace" just recently, wonderful, rhythmic and melodic space rock music. Tomorrow I'll buy new Monster Magnet cd. And surely I'll buy new Ayreon and Therion albums when they are released. |

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P...2.LZZZZZZZ.jpg I cannot recommend the first enough. Truly, wonderful pop record. |
Three Weeks ago, I bought the LP Dead Ringer for $6.00
http://perso.libertysurf.co.uk/lee.g...eadring_cd.jpg And today, my mom and I went to the thrift store and I found 3 records and 2 cassettes Adding up to $6.80 First one I found Nazareth Greatest Hits LP http://www.collectable-records.ru/im...hits/front.jpg Then I found a record full of different artists, I thought I would like it seeing how I know most of the artists Alice Cooper, Boston, so I thought I'd get it, not knowing Meat Loaf is on it! LOL Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad is the song by Meat. The record is called Winners. Made in the 70s. Also an LP they spelled his name "meatloaf" Grr  http://www.ne.jp/asahi/salaryman/asada/jwinn.gif Then I found Bonnie Tyler's LP Faster Than The Speed Of Night http://www.jpc.de/jpcimages/big/5366488.jpg As for the two cassette tapes, I got Edwin McCain (the only song I heard by him is Alive) so I got it. The album is called "Honor Among Thieves" http://surfsc.com/homegrownmusic/images/emhat.jpg Never heard any of the songs by this band, but my supply teacher (friend) says U2 is a great band so I bought their "Rattle and Hum" cassette. http://caratuleo.com/u/u2_-_rattle_and_hum-front.jpg sorry about the big pic  |
Anthony you have been deprived. I suggest you purchase this immediately if you like Rattle & Hum:

I'll be sure to look out for it, Badger, thanks for the Nfo :D
|
to evil nickname,
yes, and I can say that new Ayreon probably will be the best along with Space Opera, should be very good :). Also last week I bought Sirenia "An Elixir For Existence". A step forward comparing to the previous album, a very good crafted album of symphonic dark metal. |

Yes, I agree. Latest Dimmu Borgir album combines extreme and melodic parts of black metal, that's great. I began to really like this band after their concert here in Moscow in November.
I wouldn't say it's commercial, it's too much variable music for it - I would say "succesful" :). |
I first got Puratanical Euphoric Misanthropia (sp?) and was hooked!
I am getting more into black metal now, although don't know exactly where I am going. |
Well, that was the same thing with me few years ago with Immortal "At the heart of winter".
About Dimmu Borgir I would recommend "Spiritual Black Dimensions" - though songs on it has more complicated structure and need even more attentive listening I like it most. It has more keayboard arrangements and wonderful clean voice. Late 90's - 2000+ Black Metal is very fast developing genre, really taking the indie music higher. There were some great releases from Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Limbonic Art, Emperor, Kovenant, some others. |
thanks for the tips Alice :D
|
This week's trend thus far:
http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US...57/6257454.jpg & http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US...33/6133481.jpg I highly recommend BOTH! :P jo |
Hmmm.... got me the Rasmus single of "In The Shadows"... only cos it has the video to the song on it.

The Best Of Meat Loaf
I've never seen this one before. The cover is black with red letters and there's a pic of Meat, obviously from 93 or 94. The cd is black with red letters. Printed in the Netherlands and released in France in April 2004! 1. I'd Lie For You 2. RnR Dreams 3. Lemon 4. Everything Louder 5. A Kiss 6. Original Sin 7. Runnin' For The Red Light 8. BOOH (Live 93) 9. MATLAF (Live 93) 10. Heaven Can Wait (Live 93) 11. All Revved Up (Live 96) I've recognized straight away the live versions. Nothing new but still a good one for the collection. 8) Patricia |

Not got a picture but bought two LP's
The original London cast recording of Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita |
Tenacious D... don't have a title. But its so funny :lmao:
|
|
heard that morrisey is back on the scene.
|
Yup, Morrissey-mania at the moment. It's quite silly, I haven't got any of his solo work, so I picked this up today. Everyone watch Jonathan Ross next week. Special Moz edition. ;)
|
wondered where he went!!!! See he's still got the old quiff.
|
Indeed, the quiff is as tall and gravity defying as ever. . .albeit slightly more receeding.
|
I'm sure he has an anti gravity feild around his hair  but your right, I noticed he's going (I don't like to say this) a bit bald...
|
I do hope it won't have a Samson effect. . . 8O
|
or worse a tin tin effect...
|
Then he'd go around solving mysteries with an old sea captain and be extremely irritating . . .
|
I like tin tin!
I used to watch him at nans over an omlette and chips. |
Funny how Tin Tin manages to be the most irritating character in his own books. . .
|
hows tin tin annoying? (apart from his voice)
