My brush with fame is not too terribly exciting....when I worked at a movie theatre in high school I once sold comedian Howie Mandell (is he known in the UK?) popcorn. He was appearing at Ruth Eckerd Hall, the same venue that ML has performed at in my town the last several times he has been here.
I also met Indigo Girl Amy Ray on the street in St Petersburg Florida after a concert at Jannus Landing. (Again, the same venue that ML was at in the early 90's- why do I run into everyone who comes to his venues except him.
I also used to be a big Doctor Who fan, so I've attended a lot of sci fi conventions where I met Peter Davison, Patrick Troughton, Colin Baker (all former DW's), Nick Courtney (the Brigadier), all the guys from UNIT, lots of other DW folks, and George Takai (Sulu from Star Trek)
There are lots of baseball teams that train in my area, so I've met most of the Philadelphia Phillies whove been on the team in the last 20 years, as well as hall of famers like Enos Slaughter, Warren Spahn, Willie Mays, Ted Williams and Eddie Matthews. Those are probably not well known names to non-Americans but I was thrilled to meet them. Oh yeah, and several WWE wrestlers live in my town so I've met Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker and a few others.
I'm interested to read about other's brushes with fame. But- no one can beat Dotties, that for sure!!!!

Met Meat at the M&G in Amsterdam (well, I saw him, he signed my CHSIB and oversized Bat II (from the cartwheel edition) booklets (apperently he had never seen it before, he looked surpirzed by the size)
And I once spoke briefly with Chris Caffery from Savatage, after the show way back in '98...
Other than that, I've met no-one 'famous'. Had some emails from Arjen Lucassen, Erik Norlander and Steve Buslowe though...

My claim to fame is that i told Charlotte Church's Auntie to F**K OFF!!!!!
When i worked as a bouncer at a pub, Cheryl Church used to do the rounds as a caberet singer, and as Mousie will know, when you sing in a pub, you hafta have loads of equipment with you, amps, speakers all that kinda stuff.
Well, Ms. Church had finished her set for the night, and was packing up - she started carrying her stuff outside - me being the perfect lady  held the door open for her, so she could get by, and she starts mouthing....saying things like 'well...i can't believe i have to carry my own stuff...you could give a hand' and all that crap. If she'd have asked in the beginning, i would have, no problem, but then she said 'Do you know who i am???'
'i am Charlotte Church's Aunt' quoth she. 'i don't really care' said i, and informed her that i was there to work for the owners of the pub, not as her personal lackey.
She wasn't very impressed, and told me so. I then told her that i didn't really care, and asked her why she just din't F-off and stop annoying me.
So that's my claim to fame......

I had a chat with Mel C (sporty spice) at a Music Festival - she had just performed and her set didn't go down too well and was 'Bottled Off' stage, but she was very nice and quite chatty.
Also met a few soap stars and l met Steve Lamaq (Radio 1 DJ) and Ben From Cooper Temple Clause (newish punk band) at Glastonbury last year.
I met David Coulthard at a car show. Met Ali Paton (gladiator Siren) a couple of times, once at school where she and a well known footballer (completely forgotten who though) were opening our new gym hall and once in the street.
I've also known Gail Porter since I was about 6 months old, she used to live across the street from me and I still see her when she visits her mum (would it make anyone jealous if I said that I've been in the same bed as her, many times   ). Through Gail I've also met TV presenters Tim Vincent and Chris Jarvis (anyone remember them?), Kieth forgotten his last name from The Prodigy, her husband Dan Hipgrave (ex-Toploader guitarist) and Craig Charles (Red Dwarf)
I don't really remember this as I was only a little kid at the time but apparently I met David Attenbourgh when my mum was at a book signing of his.
Meat and Co. many times
All of Bon Jovi
Bryan Adams
Lionel Richie
Tori Amos
Cast of friends
Leo Sayer lol
Tom Jones
Eminem
I dunno Im sure theres more but I can't think

Dottie,
Wait a minute....you've been in bed with Meat (via G. Norton) AND met the Beatles? I'm sorry young lady, but you have exceeded your celebrity good fortune quota for your lifetime! Forthwith, if any celebrity is within a mile of you you'll have to stay in your closet at home. :P Just kidding, but that is amazing! Oh my goodness, Meat was holding you hand under the covers- that is very, very cool.
Sherrie
Nice stories, I met David Beckham at Manchester Airport, not going to say much more because that's all we hear about nowadays, Posh and Becks

Don't want to lower the tone here but can't resist it
Notice Dottie makes no mention of what she was holding 8O
I have met quite a few celebs inc. Meat and it has always been a lovely surprise to find how kind these people are. The one exception was some years back in a London Hotel that shall remain nameless I was at the bar when a bloke barged by and yelled at the bar staff who hurried to serve him. I promptly gave him a mouthfull told him he was arrogant ignorant etc etc......and marched back to my table where my by this time bright red husband informed me it was Paul Gasgoine the "crying" footballer...............never liked the bloke anyway
hee hee, nice one original sin, sounded like he deserved what he got.

Renegade Angel I was luckily enough to meet the Beatles for a brief chat (although so young and ovewhelmed in their presence could only mumble) when I appeared as an extra in Hards Days Night.. I attended Barbra Speake School of Dancing for ballet, tap, acrobats - yes really  and was chosen with others from the dancing school. Its not as glam as it sounds, we had to scream like crazy, weep and generally throw ourselves about as the Beatles arrived at the theatre, and then in the audience clap, stamp our feet, and generally behave in a way that young adults behave when they meet their idols. Some times I do feel a little embarrassed when I watch a re-run of the movie - much prefer the mature me as on g.n. with meat
 Thanks Dottie.
Now if you could just send out tea and bickies that would make you the best stalkee in the world  .
