I hope enjoy my hard work on not just reediting the monstrosity, but reediting the film to synch with it.

This is what should have been released, it took me 2 hours to put everything together.

and i'm only 19 years old and used imovie to do it

What was the problem with the original exactly?? I watched it a few weeks ago and can't say I noticed lots of problems. Meat's vocal wasn't picked up during the second verse or so for a few lines but that was all I noticed.

Just listened to both versions and I can spot two changes to Meat's vocals. The "sea is whipping the sky" line has been overdubbed and the first of the last "instead of being bad for just a little while" has been overdubbed thus two bits are as you call it "corrected". But is this really corrected? These "mistakes" are also on the CD, but if this was simply not on the master tape then what to you expect them to do, what you have done? It is really taking the original out of context.

To call the original a monstrosity with only those niggles is quite disrespectful and over the top in my opinion.

Good work but eh I don't get it.

..... I called it a monstrosity because they let that huge audio mistake through. All I did was fix the audio mistake and where he came in early.

I did nothing to enhance his vocal. and nothing was "ovedubbed". The Second "sea is whipping the sky" was placed over where his mic cut off and fixed where his mic cut off the second time with a copy and paste from "Instead of being bad for just a little while" and the third is time his mic cut off I used studio vocal again.

Thats all i did just to make it look better. The performance itself is great, the way it was produced was the monstrosity.

This version is way better than that hideous monstrosity that we call a studio version. But that really ain't saying much because this is a SHIT song anyway, IMO.

I think it's one of Steinman's best actually. Such a good follow up as album opener after Bat, which fair enough he will never top anyway but almost did with AFL imo.

Best part of Meat's version was the little Brian May guitar intro but it could have been better had they not shortened it and more piano.

I still don't see why Wario's version is so much different. I admit he improved it and did a good job but I just don't think much was wrong with it at all. I don't expect live versions of songs to be perfect whatsoever, that's the beauty of going to gigs, it always sounds a little bit different.

I think it's only an ok version of the song but the 3 Bats Live version does not do any justice to it at all. No power in the vocals for me and kind of a paint by numbers mentality when it comes to the music.

but hey that's just my opinion.

i agree with him to an extent. Jim CAN sing, but doesn't have POWER.

The instrumentation of the Jim original is what saves it.

Bat 3 vocal on that instrumentation and you're talking serious win.

I like Mercury and thought it was a nice surprise on CHSIB. I liked how they credited in the booklet "on the bumper". I was like :wtf: is that about until I got to the last tracks and found out about the hidden song. As it was at that time perhaps going to be Meat's last album I think he wanted to go out with a fun rock song hence decided to put it on after Forever Young.

Not all songs need to have deep and meaningful lyrics. Compare a top notch, three course meal to a decent plate of fish and chips; both excellent in their own way.

No I didn't forget about Los Angeloser I do like that song I know you may think I'm contradicting myself but the things I said about it were about how much better the other songs are on the album accept Like A Rose, and that it was a bad choice for a single when you have songs like Song Of Madness, and Peace On Earth. And sorry but opinions change

Hmmm I'm not sure about that (though I do know what you mean about the final pan-shot it's a stunning image of Meat at the end of Bat), during the CHSIB tour it emerged Meat was going to record Bat 3 (WITH Jim at that point) and he was talking about a two night stand type show thing across several cities to perform all Bat songs back to back. During the early months of 2004 he was at times annoyed with the reviews (mostly from here I think) and did threaten to quit but I doubt he really thought MSO was the last Bat performance ever.

Meat seems to go up and down in his thought process after shows but I'm not so sure he thinks those kinda negative things during shows. If you listen to the commentary track on MSO you can hear his excitement at getting out there to tour again which he did in 2005 even though there wasn't a record yet.

i can listen to mercury blues, but it doesn't move me.. i wouldn't go searching to hear it, but if i heard it, i wouldn't skip it. (though its VERY VERY rare chsib gets an outing from me)

bad for good, i first heard on audio cassette on the meat loaf and friends tape, and i liked it... got the bad for good cd, and still liked it... never loved it though... its not a particularly great song in my opinion.. and if i listened to bat 3 much (which i dont) it would usually get skipped.

less and less since 07 on... theyre becoming more like a rare treat rather than the non stop staple they were... purely because the more recent stuff hasn't moved me as much as the earlier stuff... and the earlier stuff i played to death and it needed a rest (or i did)

I really like the way the loudness works on modern recordings. To me, it makes all the instruments and voices clear and distinct with none of the "fuzziness" of eg bat 2. on hctb I do find that this makes the first 7 songs quite exhausting to listen to as everything is so in your face.

But firstly, that to me is just part of what I like about the album and it suits both the songs and the story.

Secondly, it makes me appreciate dyels all the more, for the contrast and the brief welcome respite before the rocking starts again.

But i like it to the extent it should have been given a rest from 2007-2008.

The writing is great!

I mean you cant compare it to the writing in Steinman shit But its still excellent.

Many don't like it, but I personally think it's a decent show and shows some good/average highlights from a "fluctuating in quality" tour. Obviously I would have preferred RAH on DVD (who wouldn't?!) but then there wouldn't have been any space for a cameraman from where many of us were standing.

So you don't agree with Steve6 who thinks that the drums on Jim's BFG sucked and sound like pots and pans? I don't get what he is on about to be honest. I love the instrumentation and drum sound on Jim's whole album. For 1981 it's a fantastic production that still sounds modern to this day imo.

It's just how it sounded to me. I like Jim's version of BFG better than the one on BAT 3, but yeah the drums did sound like pots and pans. I thought it could have been better, but others may think different. Meat does a good job but I'm disappointed they got rid of the "Godspeed" part in the song.

I like Steinman's version of BFG. When I heard Meat was putting it on Bat3, I admit, I wondered if I would like it as much, but Meat took it on and I'm well pleased with the results. I like Meat's version more than Steinman's, but like Steinman's still.

Now, Left In The Dark ? Sorry. Steinman's I can't listen to. It's painful to me, but Meat's version is one of my all time favorite songs.

All imo.
