Default 49. It Just Won't Quit

This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic.
Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!

It Just Won't Quit (7)

Good song. I think this is the most pessimist song by Jim Steinman. It is as dark as light... it is as rich as cheap... it is as good as bad... it is as sacred as cursed...
Hmm... You can think deep inside thr song! But we know better song on this album!

My score: 7

Average: 8.66 (164.5/19)

An amazing song. Typical Jim Steinman. Great Background vocals.

Meat's version is better than Pandora's Box version.
I hope Meat would sing this song live.

My score: 8/9

it's very ironic. Just like Life is a Lemon. Yes it's not a happy song but then again BOOH is also pessimistic and a lot of other songs from JS.
It's great song but not a high light.

Man,has it just got colder in here.
I love the piano instrumental of this song.It sounds almost careless.
If Rock & Roll Dreams is a song about having something to believe in,It Just Won't Quit is the other side of the coin.
There is this guy who used to have everything he wanted until his whole world fell in .He has no beliefes. He doesn't even know the difference between good and bad, happy and sad anymore .
The guy singing this song badly needs to listen to Rock & Roll Dreams .
The lyrics are great, and I love the dark music. The instrumentals are very fatalistic, they don't lighten the mood at all.
10/10 Richer than diamonds.Or is it?

If someone forced me to pick a weak one in this collection this would be it.
Nonetheless it still scores a ten with me.

I've just listened to this song for the first time in ages. I'd forgotten just how good it is. The lyrics are very clever. Excellent

This ranks right up there as one of my all time favourites. I don't know what it is about the song that does it for me but its just vocally and musically perfect.

This song is my bedtime lullabye. Note: it originally came from THE CONFIDENCE MAN, in the infinite form of MELVILLE'S THEME. 10/10.

Favourite part:

"I don't know, I don't know what it is!" right near the end.

Cracking tune and great to listen to when you feel sh!t aong with Life is a Lemon as its guaranteed to make you feel justfied in your misery!

Words can't describe how good this is.

10/10. But then again any Bat II song gets at least 9.

P.S. Did Meat ever play this live? I'd love to hear it at The Point tomorrow but of course it ain't gonna happen

This is a great song, but not one of my absolute favourites because it sounds a bit like a middle aged man complaining...

Still, it's a great old tune and I also love the freestyle piano playing.

I reckon 8/10.

Folks, I have to disagree completely! Have I some problem with english?
If it's the case I apologise!

It's not explicit (a Jim Steinman's song never is) but it's said ONCE, just listen carefully to the background lyrics: "Is this some kind of love?" (4:06)

That's about a soul who used to have a peaceful and selfish life and he never thought that such a thing could ever happen to him: THE REAL THING! he's just in pain 'cause he fell in love and he wants his "life" back 'cause he has no defenses! but IT JUST WON'T QUIT!
And of course he's depressed, he doesn't know how to deal with this new feeling, and of course it's sad... 'cause real love IS sad!

Am I out of my mind?

9/10

nb: please, I would like to share other views about it...

really underrated!
Itīs a stairway to heaven or a subway going down to the pits
But itīs true beside the terrific Bat2 songs thatīs the worst, although this world is really wrong for a describtion of that song.

I like this song a lot! I love the opening few lines but the song gets upbeat far too early in the song. However, towards the middle of the song all of that is forgotten and it's easy to admire the skill and genius behind the song!
